The Rapscallions, formed just four years earlier by four Bowling Green State University students, amazed the barbershop world when they won the 1984 international quartet championship in St. Louis. The quartet, in fact, placed in the top ten internationally each of the three years they competed: 9th in 1982, 6th in '83, and first in 1984. Tenor Dave Smotzer, lead Dave Wallace, bari Tim Frye, and bass Jeff Oxley formed the quartet in 1980 while working summer jobs in Cedar Point, Ohio to earn money to return to Bowling Green U.
Ray Charles is the stage name of Charles Raymond Offenberg (born September 13, 1918, in Chicago, Illinois), an American musician, songwriter, and vocal conductor. He is best known for a series of easy listening record albums which he produced in the 1950s and 1960s as the Ray Charles Singers. This vocal group also sang backup on most of the recordings of Perry Como from 1950 to 1987, and Charles and his singers also appeared with Como in his live performances and on television. The Ray Charles Singers (with Charles featured prominently as lead male vocalist) sang the theme song to the television series Three's Company ("Come and Knock on Our Door"). He is sometimes known humorously as "The Other Ray Charles" to distinguish him from the great soul musician of the same name.
Ray Conniff was born on November 6, 1916, in Attleboro, Massachusetts. Ray was exposed to music at an early age, his father was the leader/trombonist of the local Jewelry City Band and his mother played the piano. As a junior in Attleboro High School, Ray and some of his buddies decided to start a dance orchestra. Taking some musical tips from his father, Ray started practicing trombone and wound up playing first trombone for the band. It was for this group that Ray did his first arrangement, his fellow musicians loved his interpretation of "Sweet Georgia Brown."
Ray survived in the music business for over 65 years, he recorded over 100 albums and sold over 70 million albums, cassettes and CD's. He was the proud recipient of a Grammy Award for his recording of "Somewhere My Love", two Grammy nominations, over 10 gold albums, 2 platinum albums ("Somewhere My Love" and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas"), CBS Records-Best Selling Artist for 1962 Award and countless international awards. On 12th October 2002 Ray Conniff passed away in San Diego.

The Reading Choral Society is one of America's oldest musical ensembles, and from its earliest days has pursued performances characterized by vocal excellence and musical distinction. Under its first music director, German-trained Edward A. Berg, the Society flourished, in part from Berg's personal connections to the musical leaders of the day, particularly his friendship with Theodore Thomas, the most dynamic and foresighted orchestral conductor of the nineteenth century. Berg's enlightened direction and his mission-to perform great choral masterworks, without ignoring contemporary composers-has guided the Society since its founding. Berg and his successors performed the major choral/orchestral repertory (Messiah, The Creation, and Elijah were particularly popular), often accompanied by the New York Philharmonic Club, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and similar groups. The Society, like its many sister choruses across the country in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, brought musical stars and quality repertory to the Reading community, long before orchestras usurped that role in the public's perception. In its first half-century, the Society performed with such vocal stars such as baritone Nelson Eddy, and Metropolitan opera regulars Margaret Harshaw, William Hargrave, Julius Huehn, Wellington Ezekiel, and many others.

This Los Angeles-based vocal jazz group has been singing together since 2003, and has developed a loyal and enthusiastic following for its unique A Cappella style and lively personality. When the Regents won the international quartet championship at Kansas City's 1974 contest, it may have seemed to some that they had an easy road to the gold. It was their fifth international contest, and they had placed third on two previous tries, in 1972 and '73.
But collectively tenor Harry Williamson, lead Joe Mazzone, bari Ron Knickerbocker and bass Hal Kauffman had logged 44 years of experience in nearly 25 different quartets. They lived in four different (albeit small and neighboring) states. And they comprised a quartet that had evolved through four editions since it was formed in the mid-1960s.

Impressed with his performance, his professors urged him to pursue his musical talents in the field of a cappella music. Together they formed a quartet and committed to learning, writing and performing a cappella songs.

Our music and our community are energized by our joy in singing together and by our commitment to the shared project and to each other.
Resonance is a gently auditioned chorus open to all singers who can match pitch, blend with others, and make a strong commitment to rehearsal and performance schedules. By working together with individual integrity and deep mutual respect, we resolve the paradox of how to embrace singers of widely varying musical backgrounds while challenging everyone to achieve the highest standards of musical excellence - how to create a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. We achieve this by combining clearly stated expectations for impeccable presence with rehearsal processes that respect the different musical backgrounds, learning processes, and experiences of each singer. The communal task of learning and memorizing music stretches us, sometimes wearies us, and ultimately delights us through the thrill of performing and the emotional response of our audience. As one singer writes, "We are rewarded for choosing to be present, for choosing 'doing' over 'watching.' In learning to trust each other and

In early 2008, under the watchful eye of Dr. Timothy Seelig, a chorus of volunteers from throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex assembled for its first concert on the fifth anniversary of the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom. This concert was a call to peace for the DFW community. The Voices of Peace concert drew Dr. Maya Angelou to Dallas to be the keynote speaker for the event. After the resounding success of this event it became clear that this chorus had a purpose, a mission, and a vision that could not be ignored.
Soon afterward, a group of 10 people gathered in a conference room to plan for the chorus that would soon become Resounding Harmony. With a framework laid, invitations were sent out to local choruses, churches, and social groups looking for singers to join the chorus. The first rehearsal of Resounding Harmony was expected to draw about a hundred singers. To the delight and amazement of the organization's founders, the first rehearsal brought in one hundred and seventy-five enthusiastic people that wanted to join this group. The rest is history.
Resounding Harmony's unique mission is built on the theory of musical philanthropy. To date Resounding harmony has donated almost $175,000 to our beneficiaries.

Reunion was formed in the spring of 1981, when members of two disbanded street-corner groups, (the Chime-Times and the Memo's) joined together to drink some beer and sing some songs. It all started when two old friends were reminiscing about their teen-age years, and singing in a street-corner group, in Brick, NJ. The two, Dennis Chervenak and Ron Meyer, wondered if there were others who still enjoyed singing the doowop songs they grew up with. They put a classified ad in a local paper, and waited to see if there was any response.
The first call they had was from a guy who said that he sang lead in a group when he was a teen-ager in Brick, and the group was called the Chime-Times. Ron said,"Is this Steve Schmidt", he answered yes, who's this! The next day another phone call brought us "Singin Eddie" Velasquez, and two fellow members of the Memo's, Lou Spinelli and Steve D'Onofrio.
So, we started out as six-man group, with Steve Schmidt, and Steve D'Onofrio doing most of the leads. We never intended to perform for anything other than friends and family, but soon found ourselves singing in a Talent Show. A friend of Lou and Ed's, got us our first paying job, singing in a bowling alley bar in Union, NJ. We were the opening act for the main groups, Mixed Company and The Emery's.
Reveille continues its mission of CHANGING LIVES THROUGH MUSIC via community outreach, volunteer work, and musical productions filled with humor and heart.
The Revelers were an American quintet (four close harmony singers and a pianist) popular in the late 1920s and early 1930s. The Revelers' recordings of "Dinah", "Old Man River", "Valencia", "Baby Face", "Blue Room", "The Birth of the Blues", "When Yuba Plays the Rumba on the Tuba", and many more, became popular in the United States and then Europe in the late 1920s. In August 1929, they appeared in the Netherlands with Richard Tauber at the Kurhaus, Scheveningen and the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam.
All of the members had recorded individually or in various combinations. The quartet, organized in 1918, performed under the name The Shannon Four before changing their name to The Revelers in 1925. The original Revelers were tenors Franklyn Baur and Lewis James, baritone Elliot Shaw, bass Wilfred Glenn, and pianist Ed Smalle. Smalle was replaced by Frank Black in 1926. The group (with Black at the piano) appeared in a short movie musical, The Revelers (1927), filmed in the sound-on-disc Vitaphone process. This one-reel short film, recently restored by "The Vitaphone Project," shows the group performing "Mine", "Dinah", and "No Foolin'". A second
