The Chorale, directed by Elena Sharkova, has become known in the Bay Area and beyond for its eclectic mix of concert programs: from choral-orchestral masterworks to contemporary, jazz, and folk-inspired compositions. As the chorus-in-residence for the recently renamed Symphony San Jose (https://www.symphonysanjose.org/) , the Chorale performs regularly with world-renowned vocal and instrumental soloists and conductors on stage of the historic California Theater in San Jose.
Symphony Silicon Valley Chorale is the chorus of Symphony Silicon Valley. The Chorale performs programs with the professional Symphony and offers standalone concerts.
The Boston Globe calls Syncopation "the 21st Century Manhattan Transfer or Lambert, Hendricks and Ross" and it is easy to see why. Like those legendary vocal groups, Syncopation performs jazz and pop music in four-part harmony with a style that is both timeless and up-to-the-minute. As an added treat each of the singers also plays an instrument or two like trumpet, trombone piano and percussion providing the excitement of a band much larger in size.
You may have seen Syncopation on WBZ-TV singing with the Boston Pops on their 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular (2009). The group often performs with instrumental accompaniment of piano, bass and drums, but they are equally renowned for their a cappella singing, which has earned them regional and national awards from Harmony Sweepstakes.
Syracuse Chorale is a non-profit community organization dedicated to the art of fine choral singing. The group was founded in 1953 with 25 singers. We are a non-audition choir whose members have a variety of musical backgrounds and training.
The Chorale provides professional leadership and an opportunity for new and experienced singers to perform great choral works in a variety of musical styles. These include classical masterpieces such as the Requiems of Brahms, Mozart, and Durufle, as well as the contemporary works of varying size and scope. We pride ourselves on providing our singers and our audiences with culturally, geographically, historically, and linguistically diverse repertoire.
The Chorale prepares three major concert cycles each year, with one in the Fall season, and two in the Spring. We employ professional musicians as director and accompanist. Our instrumentalists and soloists are sometimes hired, but other times we interface with other community organizations including schools to provide opportunities for artistic collaboration. We love our community, and we cherish the opportunity to work with other artistic organizations in the Syracuse area. A nine-member volunteer board of directors, elected by the membership, administers the affairs of our organization. We rely on the generous support of various individuals and community organizations for our success, and we appreciate the support our sponsors and donors give to keep us filling our community with song.
The Syracuse Gay and Lesbian Chorus is a community choral ensemble of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people and their allies.
Since 1973, the Syracuse Vocal Ensemble has served the musical arts in Syracuse, and its surrounding regions, with excellent choral programming and performances.
SVE's artistry, range of repertoire, and quality of sound have been established by invitations to collaborate with The Dave Brubeck Quartet, Open Hand Theatre, Society for New Music, Skaneateles Festival, Syracuse Chorale, and the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra.
Following a highly successful community mentoring program in the past, Syracuse Vocal Ensemble is now venturing into the planning of a multi-grade level education initiative.
SVE has a long history of excellence in a cappella music. In recent years, with the help of generous private donations, the ensemble has expanded its repertoire to include collaborations with instrumental chamber ensembles, and local soloists.
As a nationally-acclaimed and award-winning a cappella group, T Minus 5 is known for delivering a high-energy musical performance that combines pop, classic rock, a bit of country, and even elements of comedy
The group has been together since 2000 and traveled throughout the country performing for Universities, Arts Councils, city events, and corporate conventions. Simulating all instrument sounds with just their voices, T Minus 5 is a high-energy a cappella group providing fun for the whole family.
T Minus 5 claimed first prize at the Denver Harmony Sweepstakes in 2001. Having only been a group for a year, they advanced to the national competition, and have been on a performing rampage ever since. Their energy and humor win them new fans wherever they go.
The T Sisters are an authentic family band based out of the San Francisco Bay Area. Rachel, Chloe and Erika Tietjen are all songwriters and switch off on lead vocals. While their voices blend seamlessly, each has a distinct singing and writing style. The combination results in an eclectic repertoire unified by a landscape of close harmonies. The group's subtle throwback aesthetic calls to mind classic trios past, from the Andrews Sisters and 1960s girl-groups to the sirens from the film O Brother, Where Art Thou? Anchored by influences spanning folk, country, gospel, klezmer and early-90's R&B, each sister brings a unique vocal and lyrical style to a sound that is at once modern and timeless. Though the T Sisters sing and perform often with instruments, they are known to silence a crowd with their soulful and enchanting a cappella numbers.

Back in 1980, Claude McKnight formed an a cappella quartet, The Gentlemen's Estate Quartet, at Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama, where he was a freshman. He auditioned fellow students for the hobby group. The Gentlemen were rehearsing in a campus bathroom, getting ready for a performance, when Mark Kibble walked by and heard them singing. He joined the harmonizing, adding a fifth part, and ended up singing with them onstage that very night. Mark later invited Mervyn Warren to join the group, and the sound of Take 6 was born. Although the sonic structure was now firmly in place, the name was not; the group performed under the moniker "Alliance."
The group performed in local churches and on campus over the next years, with members changing due to college's inevitable comings and goings. In 1985, the lower half of the group (bass, baritone, and second tenor) left upon graduating. At that time, Alvin Chea, Cedric Dent, and David Thomas joined.

Talisman A Cappella was founded by Stanford University students to research and perform culturally substantive music. From its inception in October 1989, Talisman has been committed to the belief that harmoniously blending cultures of diverse origins creates the richest and most beautiful experience both in music and in life. Thus the group embraces varied musical genres and traditions, celebrating cultures not ordinarily represented by vocal ensembles.
To challenge social and political injustice with both its music and its message has been an ambition central to Talisman since the group's founding. In its fourth and fifth seasons, not only was Talisman asked to sing for Nelson Mandela during his visit to Stanford University, the group also perfomed at a memorial service for Amy Biehl, a Stanford student slain while in South Africa promoting women's rights. The music from that service was later featured on the ABC news magazine program Turning Point.
The Talk of Tulsa Show Chorus was founded in 2000 with just a few members, and has now grown by leaps and bounds. Members of the chorus come from all walks of life and range in age from 16 - none of your business!

Originally formed under the joint sponsorship of Boston University and the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the all-volunteer Tanglewood Festival Chorus was established in 1970 by its founding conductor, the late John Oliver, who stepped down from his leadership position with the TFC at the end of the 2015 Tanglewood season. In February 2017, following appearances as guest chorus conductor at Symphony Hall and Tanglewood, and having prepared the chorus for that month's BSO performances of Bach's B minor Massled by Andris Nelsons, James Burton was named the new Conductor of the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, also being appointed to the newly created position of BSO Choral Director. Mr. Burton occupies the Alan J. and Suzanne W. Dworsky Chair on the Boston Symphony Orchestra roster.
What do a woodworker, a secretary, a government employee, an artist, a midwife, a plumber, a teacher, a priest, an actress - and many others - have in common? Singing! These volunteers joined their individual voices together to learn, practice, practice, practice, and perform beautiful and uplifting choral music. This is the Taos Community Chorus.

Tapestry has been directed by Marilyn McLoon (1990-1994), Kathy Chamberlain (1994-1995), John Thorpe (1996-1997), Beth Preston (1998-2006), and Harold "Sandy" Falconer, M.D. (2007-2014). The Te Deum Chamber Choir performed its first concert in spring 2009. Since then, the chamber choir has built an impressive and varied repertoire that spans centuries of time and wide ranges of composition style.

It all began with two guys who loved singing a cappella harmony. But they just wished they didn't have to drive so far to do it. Jon and Arbe were Temecula Valley residents who drove the 160-mile-round-trip each week to sing with the Masters of Harmony in Santa Fe Springs. Not a bad group to sing barbershop with, but what if the boys could make some of that music right in their own backyard? The crazy scheme of starting a local chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society was hatched. Shortly thereafter, rehearsals began with Jon and Arbe lending some of the craft they learned from the Masters. And Temecula's Wine Valley has been filled with harmony ever since.

The Art Mob has been entertaining its loyal fans as well as itself since 1979 with outdated and unfashionable songs that we find by pawing through musty hymnals, tattered choral books and boxes of disintegrating sheet music. Our performances hark back to a time when singing in groups was a popular form of entertainment for farmers, preachers and robber barons alike, a time long before smartphones-or any phones, for that matter- when people friended each other by meeting face-to-face in real time.
Although several Art Mob members have virtuosic voices, extensive musical training, and professional performance experience, we strive for a blended sound rather than star turns. Our new director as of the fall, 2021 season, Cynthia Shaw, helps us with that blend and a great deal more.
The Choir School at St. John's opened its doors in the Fall of 2015. Since then, we have more than doubled in size and have already begun to have a dramatic impact on community life in Portsmouth, NH. We use music instruction as a tool to expand community and build confidence in our students. We hope and expect to expand more in coming years, and look forward to the many students who will come through our doors.
Vicki, Chari and Dixie all began quarteting at Lansing (Michigan) Community College, where barbershop quartet singing was offered as a two-credit class. Already an accomplished music arranger, Chari arranged most of the music the quartet sang, including four of the six songs that won the championship.
They performed with The 4th Edition in several USO shows. The Front Office Four retired in 1980 after five years performing across the country.
After winning the international contest two years later, the quartet flew home to Iowa tourist class while the cherished but oversized trophy got a first-class seat - a sympathetic airline attendant noted the quartet's struggle to find a place for it. Margaret and Jean are sisters and were charter members in 1960 of Sweet Adelines' Mt. Pleasant Chapter. Jean was chorus director, a certified music judge, coach, arranger for the quartet, and an accomplished costume designer and seamstress. When the bass retired in 1979, she was replaced by Jean's daughter, Lynn Ellsworth. In 1971, The Galatones made a 17-day USO tour of military hospitals in the Far East. They continued to entertain audiences until 1982.
