With Joel Cohen, we have performed at Tanglewood and served as the chorus for the Boston Camerata, winning several prizes for recordings ranging from Early American Shaker Music to Spanish Music from the New World. Schola Cantorum has also sung at the Boston Early Music Festival.

For 30 years the Schola Cantorum of Santa Fe has shared the sounds of sacred music masterpieces in the chapels, missions, cathedrals and basilicas New Mexico and Colorado locally, and Italy and Ireland internationally. Schola is known locally as "Santa Fe's Sacred Music Ensemble" and "Santa Fe's favorite ensemble."
Dr. Billy Turney founded Schola in 1990 during his 25-year tenure as principal organist and Director of Music of the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis in Santa Fe. With 37 continual years of active sacred music duties at the Cathedral, he knows nearly every acoustical nuance of that sacred space.
Turney is a Santa Fe native and began his music studies with the Sisters of the Loretto Academy at a young age. He experienced the Sisters singing the chants of Vespers in the Loretto Chapel, an experience that shaped his sacred music career.
Turney studied Gregorian chant and polyphonic music of the Renaissance at the Vatican at the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music, and has the unique perspective of presenting this special sacred music in its' intended context and environment.
Fundamental to Schola's core values is the belief that music has a unique power to affect the human heart and soul, inviting each of us to become fully aware, mindful individuals.
It is part of Schola's mission to extend the role of Art beyond that of its own intrinsic value, leveraging it to bring visibility and expansive thinking to issues of human significance.
The areas of social significance selected for full-season thematic exploration are supported by advisory task force activity and podcast promotion.

he Schuylkill Choral Society, formerly the Schuylkill County Community Chorus, was formed in 1973 by its founder and first conductor James Rickley with the help of the group's first accompanist Miriam Small. The original group consisted of thirty members mostly from local church choirs and students of Mr. Rickley. The original rehearsals were held at the Catholic War Vets in Pottsville. The group's first public performance was held for the residents of Rest Haven in Schuylkill Haven. Francis Portland assumed the conductor's stand during the late 1970s and introduced the chorus to its first major work, Handel's Messiah. Catherine Zimmerman followed as conductor during the early 1980s. Under her leadership, the group continued to expand its repertoire, including a performance of Brahms's Requiem. During the mid 1980s Dr. Mark P. Thomas assumed the position of conductor and music director. He continues in that role today.

Founded in 1993 by Artistic Director Jean Strazdes, the Seaglass Chorale is a non-auditioned adult choral group of 50-60 voices that has established itself as a voice to be heard! The chorale represents some 20 southern Maine communities and regularly performs throughout the area, with concerts in Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, Wells, Sanford, Saco, and other regional venues. We are well supported by our longtime accompanist, Kimberly Karchenes.

Benefiting organizations include Habitat for Humanity, St. Thomas School in Sanford, the Sanford/Springvale Food Pantry, York County Shelters, Wells Historical Society, Noble High School, Child Abuse Prevention Council, and many others.
The chorale is often called upon in celebration of such diverse community events as the Nasson College Community Center dedication, Franciscan Monastery Anniversary, Laudholm Farms Building Inaugural, Holy Family Church (Sanford) Jubilee, and the Sanford Mainers baseball team playoffs.
In short, no other regional group integrates more fully in its diversity of intended audiences, music, events, and venues - always with its mission focus of performance opportunities through community service.

Seatown Sound is a refuge for a cappella nerds for whom college is only a happy memory. Part social group, part professional chorus, our goal is to bring community members together to create and perform a unique variety of challenging choral pieces. United by our love of music, we've created a collaborative community of talented performers.
In 1984, Dr. Wallace Golecke founded the Seattle Bach Choir with the idea that performances by the group would highlight the works of composers of the Baroque period, and Johann Sebastian Bach in particular. Under the direction of Louis Magor, Dr. Gregory Kent Vancil, Dr. Anne Lyman, and our newest director Daniel A Mahraun, the repertoire of this chamber choir has expanded to include music from the Medieval period through very recent years, including some premiere performances of works by current composers. It continues to be our goal to present high quality performances of music that is not often performed, but that is significant within the canon of choral literature. While many of our performances are primarily of music performed either by a cappella choir or with piano, we also perform pieces with orchestra, such as Haydn's Mass in Time of War, Handel's Dixit Dominus, and the St. John Passion and Mass in B Minor of our namesake, J. S. Bach. Our programming is accessible for audiences who are hearing their first choral music program, or those who are seasoned choral music aficionados.
The Seattle Bach Choir programs music that is especially interesting and beautiful, but not always frequently performed. This includes music from well known composers in addition to music from those composers who are not yet well known, but who should be. It is our interest to perform a balance of music from the Renaissance to music of today, and that has been our consistent offering in our programs for the past several years.
Among the many offerings of the past several years are compositions by Dufay, Josquin, de la Rue, Victoria, Palestrina, Schein, Schutz, Byrd, Gibbons, Handel, Mozart, Haydn, Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Strauss, Verdi, Poulenc, Pizzetti, Harris, Eben, Musgrave, Ives, Hawley, Stanford, Kechley, Lauridsen, Youtz, and many, many others. We have uncovered works long-buried and hosted some northwest premieres and world premieres.

The mission of the Seattle Peace Chorus (SPC) is to communicate through music the desire for a just and peaceful world; to consistently present SPC's message through choral excellence and nonviolent activism; to celebrate life in all its diversity; to build and sustain harmonious relationships and cultural bridges locally and globally.
The Seattle Peace Chorus was founded in 1983 under the leadership of Helen Lauritzen (SPC Director, 1983-2000). The founding of the Chorus was inspired by Target Seattle, a region-wide activity formed to raise awareness about the growing threat of nuclear war in that era. Helen's involvement in the effort led to further dialogue about the nuclear threat, and the need to offer peace activists a way to communicate a positive vision of the future - a way to express musically their desire for peace. In Helen's words: "...this (the chorus) seemed like a way to do it joyously." By reaching out through music and making personal connections, the chorus hoped and continues to hope now to make a difference.

Selah Gospel Choir (SGC) is a Black and women-led community performing arts organization that serves Los Angeles County under the fiscal sponsorship of Fulcrum Arts' Emerge program, a 501(c)(3) that provides resources, communication services, and other support to artists and cultural organizations to further their artistic endeavors. Founded in September of 2007, SGC has cemented itself as a space for people who want to sing gospel music birthed by the spirit of the Black church and the ancestry of Black community but are either unable to find it in their home place of worship or do not identify with being in a church at all. Gospel music was introduced to the mainstream through the radically unifying activism of the 1960's Civil Rights Movement. That collectivist spirit is the foundation of our mission to uplift and strengthen our communities through an individual connection by singing inspiring, soul stirring gospel music. Rooted in our mission, SGC's primary goals are to make gospel music available to all who wish to sing it; improve musicianship among our singers with focus on ear training, music theory, rhythm and movement; and share the good news by making a joyful noise to broad audiences via our bi-annual concerts, community events and various other performing and recording opportunities.
The Sensational Nightingales were assembled in the '40s. In 1957 they appeared on the Gospel Train tour with The Clara Ward Singers and five other big-name gospel acts. Members included Julius Cheeks (lead), Carl Coates (bass), JoJo Wallace (tenor), Howard Carroll (baritone), and Paul Gwens (tenor). Their noted hit was "See How They Done My Lord." One of the earliest gospel quintets, they recorded and toured throughout the 1990s. Many of their '50s and '60s sides (found on MCA reissues) feature the stunning vocals of Rev. Julius Cheeks. As with Archie Brownlee, Cheeks reaches an intensity that distorts the actual recordings, and his style has been heavily "borrowed" by Bobby Bland, Wilson Pickett, and others. The later recordings by Charles Johnson are smoother and slicker, but still top-notch. ~ Bil Carpenter & Billy C. Wirtz, All Music Guide

Over the past decade, we've become known as the choir that tries the new, the off-beat, the unusual. We've even done doo-wop and vocal percussion.

The repertoire includes classical music, contemporary music, folk songs of many cultures, newly-composed works and sacred and secular songs with emphasis on love, peace, and friendship. Concerts are given both locally and in major centers of the United States and the world. Rehearsals are conducted with strict discipline with emphasis on regular attendance, preparation, punctuality, and excellence. Technical knowledge is imparted through practice and performance. Solfege-inspired teaching is at the heart of the rehearsals. Because learning to read music is an important part of SVCC participation, choristers receive weekly solfege instruction and will complete solfege memorization, practice sight-singing, and homework based on these lessons. Children with treble voices in grades 3-12 who have passed an audition may participate. Financial assistance is provided to qualified, interested children who would not otherwise be able to participate.
The Sheps are without a doubt one of the most popular acappella groups in the N.Y.- N.J. circuit today. We have the credentials to prove it! The five part vocal group consists of original members, Tommie Shider and Richie Camacho, along with Charles Coleman and Johnnie Barlow. All residing in New Jersey. Tommy Lockhart, the fifth member lives in New York. All five members have "paid their dues" so to speak, as in gaining experience to form one of the most unique blends of harmony today! They are all committed to singing many songs that other groups won't even touch. It is for the fact that they do these obscure songs so well, that it is no wonder that a fan club was formed immediately after their very first performance! Upon receiving awards and plaques over the years, this has not changed the way the guys feel about 'really keeping the music alive!" Also these fellows have one of the highest reputations for being back-up forces for such greats as Pirkle Lee Moses, leader of the Eldorados, Otis Williams leader of the legendary Charms, Ray Wooten, leader of the Mellow Moods, Johnny Bragg, leader of the Prisonaires, Ray Pollard, leader of the Wanderers, the incredible Ruth McFadden, Bobby Mansfield, leader of the Wrens, Harvey Fuqua of the Moonglows, along with an impressive list of many more. With all this going for them, they still find the time to create their original songs in which they are constantly turning out.
Now in our 20th season, we are a four-part chorus with over 40 members of various ages and Jewish affiliations. Our repertoire is inspired by the richness and diversity of Jewish music from around the globe, ranging from moving liturgical pieces to contemporary compositions and updated arrangements of world folk music in many languages.
