The African Children's Choir is made up of some of the neediest and most vulnerable children in their countries. Many have lost one or both parents to poverty or disease. The African Children's Choir helps these children break away from the everyday cycle of poverty and hopelessness. Before being selected to join the Choir, children, generally aged between 7 and 11 attend Music for Life camps. These camps are fun and stimulating environments that provide a break from the daily hardships the young children face at home.
From the hundreds of children who attend the camps, approximately 50 will be chosen to audition for the Choir. Games, crafts, music and devotions are some of the activities the children look forward to at camp. Once the children are selected, Choir Teams will spend a few days visiting the children's homes to determine their needs and suitability for tour life. They then have the difficult task of selecting the group of children who will form the next African Children's Choir.

We are the A Cappella Harmony Quartet. First of all, we love God and wish to lift Him up in everything we do. He is the most important thing to each of us. We also love to sing. Anywhere. Anytime. For anyone. We started in the spring of 1995, the spontaneous result of four guys with a desire to harmonize. We started singing occasionally for our church, and other invitations began trickling in. That combined with persistent practice spawned the recording of our first album, Let Me Tell You 'Bout Heaven, in 1996.
Since then we've sung at, well, most anything we've been invited to. At least when it fits into our schedules. Trying to mesh the schedules of four guys, especially in the early years, posed a substantial hurdle. But weekly practices always allowed us to improve and kept doors open.

In the years to follow, the renamed Akron Symphony Chorus performed much of the major choral repertoire of the last six centuries, as well as several regional first performances and world premieres.
Highlights have included Honegger's Joan of Arc at the Stake featuring world-famous actress and dancer Vera Zorina, and in recent years, Mozart's Coronation Mass with guest conductor Jeannette Sorrell, Handel's Messiah directed by James Mismas, and an all Brahms program conducted by Grammy and Emmy award-winning guest conductor Vance George, retired choral director of the San Francisco Symphony Chorus. In 2007, the chorus performed Verdi's La Traviata, conducted by Christopher Wilkins.

Albany Pro Musica was founded in 1981 by University at Albany Distinguished Professor Dr. David Griggs-Janower, who created a community chorus capable of performing at a professional level. He remained the group's Artistic Director until his passing in August 2013. Dr. Flores-Caraballo came to Albany Pro Musica with an ambitious vision to build upon the group's impressive and cherished legacy and elevate APM to be among the best choirs in the nation.
APM has made numerous recordings and was one of only 16 choruses selected for inclusion on the 2005 National Public Radio (NPR) CD Christmas Around the Country. In 2004 APM collaborated with the Albany Symphony Orchestra and composer Michael Torke to record the opera Strawberry Fields for mass distribution. The group has toured nationally and internationally, including to France in honor of the 60th anniversary of D-Day at Omaha Beach, and to the Czech Republic, Spain, and Ireland.
The repertory of The Albert McNeil Jubilee Singers is focused on the rich genre of African-American music known as Negro Spirituals. The arranged spiritual became known in the Winter of 1870 when an intrepid group of 11 singers -- seven women and four men -- representing the newly-established Fisk University in Nashville appeared at the Court of St. James in London. Queen Victoria's immediate acceptance helped this a cappella four-part singing by an ensemble of students to become known worldwide as a creative religious music evoking a deep sense of personal spiritual fervor.
Over 40 years ago (1968) the Singers undertook their first European tour. Today, after 18 sold-out European tours, 12 tours of the United States and Canada, tours of the Middle and Far East, Africa and South America, they are among the most honored singing ensembles in the world. They were selected three times to serve the U.S. State Department and USIS Cultural Exchange Program in areas of the world, known in those days as "behind the Iron Curtain," including East Germany, Hungary, Romania, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Iran, India, North and West Africa, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates.

Alexandria Choral Society aspires to enhance the cultural life of the city of Alexandria and surrounding communities by presenting diverse and engaging musical programs at the highest artistic level.
There were four godfathers to the chartering of the Alexandria Harmonizers. Godfather-in-Chief was Dean Snyder, who had just been elected President of the DC Chapter and who, several years later, was to transfer his barbershop allegiance to Alexandria. Godfather Number Two was Eugene Barnwell, then Director of the City of Alexandria's Dept. of Recreation. His chance meeting with Dean on a cold and rainy November night in 1947 on the George Washington Parkway began a chain of barbershop events that has continued for over 59 years. Godfathers Number Three and Four were Jean Boardman and Louis E. Metcalf. Dean had a long history with barbershopping that began well before there was a Society: he sang in his first quartet, The Troubadours, at the age of nineteen; he was the third person to to sign the charter for the DC Chapter in 1945; and was the force behind establishing a new barbershop chapter in Alexandria.
The Alexandria Singers was founded in 1975 by 16 Alexandria residents. The group's American popular music repertoire distinguishes it from other area choirs. Interim Music Director Nancy Reid was succeeded by Barry Hemphill (1975), then by Roger Oliver (1978 to 2006). Les Cameron became Interim Director in 2006 and Bill Colosimo became Music Director in 2007. Ms. Reid served as accompanist until 2000, succeeded by Lisa Gibbs-Smith until 2006, Meg Slachetka until 2009 and current accompanist Linda Hemphill. Choreographer Pier Stock was succeeded by Geri Geis (1990 to 2005) and current Creative Director Karen Reedy.
All About Buford is a pop-funk vocal band from Boston, New York City and Philadelphia who switch seamlessly between an a cappella format and an acoustic guitar format, delivering pure vocals, complex arrangements, and intricate harmonies. The rhythmic background of AAB is the complex vocal percussion (beatboxing) of Del Coy, who simultaneously does percussion AND bass. You might not believe the sound is being created vocally, but there are no drum tracks! Performing an eclectic mix of covers and originals, All About Buford has been described as both sexy AND sophisticated. They have performed steadily at venues large and small since their inception in 2000, and were the 2003 Boston Regional Harmony Sweepstakes champions (runner-up in 2002). All About Buford does a high-energy, surprising show that gets an audience involved.

Allegro's mission is to enrich the lives of Kansas City students through outstanding choral education and numerous performance opportunities.
Our singers come from a variety of backgrounds, but they share the common value that every individual voice matters as the singers work together to achieve one sound.
Our singers really are proof that "lives are changed through song" as individual character, standards, and friendships are molded for life.
By bringing their own contemporary style to tunes from the 1950s and 60s, The Alley Cats appeal to fans of all ages, breathing new life into everyone's favorite doo-wop classics. The four members of The Alley Cats are a perfect blend both vocally and personally. More than a decade after they began, Royce Reynolds, whose solid bass vocals create the Cats' musical foundation, and Mando Fonseca, the second tenor always ready with a pun or quick quip, have the ease of familiarity which make their camaraderie and vocal play radiate from the stage. Baritone Sean Devine, whose smooth vocals melt hearts the world over, and newest member Juan Del Castillo, re-creator of all of those soaring 50s first tenor lines, bring their freshness and talent to an already solid foundation of a cappella tradition. Together they are truly the Cat's meow!
The Alliance Chorus is a men's barbershop chorus formed in 1999 for the singing of four-part barbershop harmony by men who shared a vision to focus their time, efforts, and energy on singing and performing at the highest possible level. They believed there were other male performers who shared their passion to be "In Tune With Excellence," and they were correct. Members of the chorus span an age range of nine decades; and, while most live in the Columbus area, many travel from throughout Ohio, as well as from Pennsylvania, Michigan, and West Virginia to prepare and perform with the ensemble. All are dedicated to developing their vocal, visual, and performance skills and to maintaining the chapter's world-class performance level.
Aside from a common love of four-part harmony, the men of The Alliance are a very diverse group comprised of students, corporate executives, construction equipment operators, doctors, and a host of other callings. Our range of ages, occupations, and experiences help to create a distinctive brotherhood rooted in harmony.
We join as amateur and professional musicians to share the joy of music. We believe this is best accomplished with 60-70 dedicated singers and the world's finest music: global, eclectic, timeless. We choose this avocation with the intent of broad promotion of the choral arts. Mingling at the well of taste and excellence, we experience and share together a world that would not otherwise be possible.
We value our rehearsal process, the community it creates and our combined growth and learning. Together we develop our unique and expressive voice, The Alpine Sound. Flexible voicing is critical in support of a broad and expanding literature base, as our performance objective is excellence with continuously improving attention to detail.

Dr. Dale Roller asked his friend, Mr. Billy Talley, to direct the first season of the Amarillo Boy Choir that Fall and the rest is history! The interest in the community started strong and has stayed that way through the seasons as we've grown, added choirs and changed directors. The mission to provide exceptional musical opportunities and education to the children of the Panhandle has never wavered and as we head into our 30th year, AYC is still committed to that promise.
In 1990, a year before beginning her master's degree in choral conducting at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Kristina Boerger decided to form what she advertised as a lesbian/feminist chorus called Amasong. The group's name was a play on the words amazon and song. Boerger said, "The word amazon conjures up images of strong women who make their own decisions. It was a way of coding our group in a certain way."
Boerger posted flyers around town about her new choral group, Amasong. Many local women responded to the flyers. A roomful of women showed up at the first choir rehearsal, consisting mainly of lesbians, feminist housewives, and students. The decision to label Amasong as lesbian/feminist was important. In the PBS documentary The Amasong Chorus: Singing Out, produced by Jay Rosenstein, Boerger explained, "There's lesbian-feminism with a hyphen, which refers to women who are lesbian and feminist. But if you put a diagonal slash between, then it means either/or. And that's very important.
This chorus, an effort of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, increases social engagement for those with dementia.

When we perform, our goal is to give a gift that will change the lives of the people in our audience.
This six-month-old quartet won its regional competition in the spring of 1986 and lost its bass immediately afterward. With a new bass, the members of Ambiance were as astounded as everyone else when they won the 1986 international quartet championship just six months later. It was their first international competition and it has been said that they owned the stage - everyone knew this was no ordinary quartet.
Ambiance soon became a Sweet Adeline legend, maintaining a full performance schedule for the next nine years before retiring in 1995 with a sold-out, farewell concert at New York's famed Carnegie Hall. It is fortunate that the quartet's unforgettable Fats Waller package, and their impressive vocal gymnastics on Rhapsody of New York (an adaptation of George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue), are preserved on cassette and CD. Ambiance was named first runner-up in the 1992 Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards in the category of best recording by an unsigned professional. The award was for their 1991 recording, I Hear a Rhapsody. The awards are given by the Contemporary Society of America (CASA).
The Ambler Choral Society traces its roots back to the community performance of the Messiah at the Wissahickon High School in December of 1979. A number of singers at the concert wished to continue as a choral group, which became known as the Ambler Community Singers. The first concert was presented in April of 1980 with Michael Joy as conductor. Five years later Mark Daugherty was chosen as conductor.
In order to reflect the style of the music in the concert, the name was changed to Ambler Choral Society. Some of the major works that have been performed are Handel's Messiah, Mozart's Requiem and Coronation Masses, Haydn's Creation, Brahms' Requiem, Bach's Magnificat and St. John Passion, and Bernstein's Chichester Psalms.
Officially, we are the Pikes Peak Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society doing business as the America the Beautiful Chorus.
