Lake Country Chorus is a group of women who gather together to participate in the art form known as Barbershop music. We are a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, a world-wide organization dedicated to performance and education.
Lake Country Chorus was chartered in 1968 as the White Bear Lake Chapter. Women of all ages and backgrounds come together to form the chorus and create the wonderful sounds of four-part a cappella harmony, barbershop style. We are thankful fo this hobby that not only allows us to sing, but also gives us the opportunity to make life long friends and to participate in activities we never imagined. Some of our members travel from as far as Cambridge, Wyoming and Isanti because we love to sing together.
We enjoy entertaining for our community, singing for senior residences, church services, park performances and other local events throughtout the north and east Twin Cities metro area.
Membership in our local chapter includes membership in a larger regional and international organization and the opportunituy to participate in their education and performance events.
Singing a cappella harmony, the Lake Country Harmony Chorus is a 503c non-profit organization serving East Texas. Performing four-part harmony, our repertoire crosses generations and genres, combining barbershop with Broadway, merging jazz and pop. This talented chorus competes annually with other choruses in a five-state region.
The Lake Effect is an award winning group of 5 men unified in one common goal; the promotion and performance of all-male a cappella music. The Lake Effect is the next step in the evolutionary process of a cappella music in the Western New York region. The group's focus is new, intricate a cappella songs of both original & popular tunes that can be appreciated by people of all ages.
The Lake Ridge Chorus was founded in 1976 by Director Emeritus, Jean Knight and charted with Sweet Adelines International that same year. The Chorus has performed throughout Northern Ohio, including at more than 30 stage productions, fundraising events, community events, nursing and assisted living facilities and producing an annual holiday show with a regional men's chorus. The Chorus has also sang the National Anthem at sporting events in the area.
The members of LSJ come from various professional backgrounds, but we find common ground through our love of music and a cappella. We have sung at various venues, both publicly and privately, including major professional sporting events, stages at Navy Pier and once at Millenium Park! Lake Shore Jive is available for hire for private events, and our vast repertoire makes for an enjoyable time for all.
Lake Superior Youth Chorus is a nonprofit organization based out of Duluth, Minnesota, whose mission is to cultivate an active and inclusive community of young choral artists, centered on a holistic music education. performs a wide variety of musical styles. We have a strong sense of community and friendship in our group. This is achieved through participation in our community "mini-concerts" (approximately 5 per season) and in helping with various tasks needed for our Spring Dinner Concerts, which are our big fundraising events. Please see our Rehearsals page for information on dues and when our seasons run.
Lake Washington Singers is proud to annually award a vocal scholarship to local high school students. The scholarship recipient is invited to perform at our Spring concert. Please see our Scholarship page for information about our scholarship program.
Founded in 1967, the Lakeland Choral Society, is a large auditioned chorus with a history of singing classics (and classical), show tunes, spirituals, hymns and anthems, from Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert to Lauridsen, Walton, Copland, Rutter and many others. Now under the direction of Beth Cummings, the Lakeland Choral Society enjoys the benefit of a long relationship with Florida Southern College, which provides rehearsal space.
The Choral Society presents two concerts of its own in the Fall and Spring, performing a variety of choral literature, often with small orchestra. The Choral Society has also performed with the Imperial Symphony, the Lakeland Community Band and we participate in numerous community events.
Composed of approximately 40 Lakeland students, high school students, school music teachers, directors and community members, the Lakeland Civic Chorus performs under the direction of Leonard DiCosimo and piano accompanist Nada Vencl Montgomery. There are three choral ensembles available for singers: Lakeland Civic Chorus, Lakeland Women's Choir and Lakeland Chorale.
Lakeland students and community members are encouraged to audition for the Lakeland Civic Chorus.
For over 2000 years, choral music has been inspiring the hearts of people throughout the world in their concert halls and places of worship. The Lakeshore Chorale carries on that significant tradition today and into the future. It is a diverse group of musical friends whose common interests are a love of singing and choral music. The ensemble is unique in its sense of community, and in its commitment to musical excellence and growth in a strongly supportive and welcoming environment.
For more than 36 years, the Lakeshore Chorale has been giving local audiences affordable opportunities to hear live performances of wonderful, exciting music. Directed by Neil Bubke, and accompanied by Joseph Hauer, the Chorale has provided the singers and accompanying instrumentalists the opportunity to participate in performances of high-quality sacred and secular choral works.
The Chorale consists of auditioned members from Sheboygan and the surrounding counties. Typically, four concerts are presented each year between September and May offering an extensive and varied repertoire, including Palestrina, Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Brahms, Gilbert and Sullivan, Spirituals, Folk Music, and PDQ Bach.
The Lakeshore Chorale has performed in Germany, Austria, Great Britain, Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic in four separate tours. Performances in Sheboygan's sister city, Esslingen, Germany, the Abbey at Bath, England, the Karlskirche, Vienna, and the Jesuitenkirche, Innsbruck, have been thrilling highlights for the ensemble. The Chorale has also performed in some of the finest concert halls and churches throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest.
The Lakeshore Community Chorus was born in early 2010 from the joint musical passion of director Tim Heck and assistant director Nancy Plantinga. Their desire to offer a musical experience to singers as well as the surrounding communities produced 24 excited members. Today, under the direction of Nancy Plantinga, our 40+ members represent nine lake shore communities!
The ensemble rehearses weekly from March-June and August-December. Many members are busy and often travel, so two "sessions" every year were created to allow singers the opportunity to be involved when they can. Sessions begin with opportunities to audition for part placement and conclude with a formal concert. Other performances and joint concerts are also planned during each session. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings at Saugatuck High School (map). There is a participation fee for each session which helps supplement our expenses.
Founded in 1999, The Lakeside Singers are dedicated to bridging the worlds of classical and contemporary choral music with a membership that is drawn from both disciplines. The chorus comprises professional singers, composers and arrangers who have performed on TV and radio commercials, operas, early music ensembles, film scores, Broadway shows, jazz clubs, cruise ships, cabarets and classical concerts around the country. Members are selected entirely through auditions and must re-audition every two years. The Lakeside Singers' programs combine cross-cultural classical literature from around the world with stylistically authentic arrangements of jazz, gospel, rock, folk, R&B and other contemporary genres. Headquartered in Evanston, The Lakeside Singers come from all around the Chicago area - from as far away as Oswego, Lake Zurich, Elmhurst, Oak Park, Batavia and the city's south side.
In 1962 Ross, tired of touring, called it quits. Lambert and Hendricks choose Yolande Bavan for the impossible job of replacing Ross. Lambert, Hendricks & Bavan recorded three albums for RCA. None were as successful as those of the previous trio, and the group broke up in 1964. Sadly, Dave Lambert was killed in a car accident in 1966. Jon Hendricks continues to perform. Annie Ross also continued singing and working in films. Though they only graced the musical landscape for a few short years, Lambert, Hendricks & Ross left an indelible mark in the world of vocal jazz that has yet to be equaled to this day.
Celebrated as central Ohio's premier all-professional chamber choir, LancasterChorale has established its role as a vital force in choral music by performing challenging repertoire drawn from the rich treasury of the past, commissioning new works to inspire the American public to more fully understand its present, and supporting educational programming with young singers to promote the future of the choral arts.
Engaging the region's leading professional vocal artists, LancasterChorale garners high praise for its beauty of tone, musical integrity, remarkable blend, and exceptional commitment to elegant text phrasing. Under the direction of nationally recognized composer Stephen Caracciolo, the ensemble performs an astonishingly wide range of choral literature including plainchant, Renaissance and Baroque motets, German-Romantic part songs, French chansons, the sacred literature of the English and Russian churches, opera choruses, carols of every variety, American folk songs and spirituals, and works by living composers. LancasterChorale performs in cities throughout Ohio and appears periodically with ProMusica Chamber Orchestra and the Lancaster Festival Orchestra.
The chorus is now a fully-auditioned ensemble, which presents a series of three concerts each program year. Quality performances, featuring a large variety of music styles, organized into interesting and entertaining concert themes, have rapidly become hallmarks of what LCC is all about.
Talented singers that comprise our chorus give generously of their time and energy in preparing each concert. Since we have only eight rehearsals to prepare for each performance, the singers spend much time between practices learning their music on their own. LCC performers come from many communities in the central Ohio area, and also come from many different backgrounds, including professional musicians, educators, students, and those who have raised their musical hobby to an advanced level. All share a great spirit and a willingness to give their best to bring alive music for our audiences.
Although LCC sings for the intrinsic value of the music itself, the enjoyment of that process is heightened by the wonderful audiences that come to enjoy our music. We have been blessed from the outset of this musical journey by large and enthusiastic crowds at our concerts, thus creating even more audience members.
As a young Marine on weekend liberty almost a half-century ago, Craig Carmody-Anderson accompanied a friend-reluctantly!-one day in 1962 to hear the Vienna Boys' Choir. By intermission he knew that, though he had scant musical training or experience, this is what he wanted to do one day. A chance encounter the following year with a suddenly director-less choir at the Minneapolis Boys' Club ("Well, they were not the Vienna Boys' Choir," he notes dryly) led him to learn the rudiments of directing-on the job, from the accompanist. But soon other obligations and interests intervened-family responsibilities (he had married the accompanist), the Boys' Club, a career as police officer and coaching boys' gymnastics. For years, having a choir of his own remained just a dream. Finally, in 1976, "Andy" was asked to form a choir to sing at a celebration of the country's bicentennial in his native Elk River, Minnesota. He agreed-on condition that it be a boy choir. An ad in a local newspaper and in church bulletins drew 18 boys to the first rehearsals, and when the celebration was unceremoniously cancelled, parents convinced the director to continue, and the Land of Lakes Choirboys was born.
One evening in the fall of 1999, six men gathered around a piano. These six, all alumni of the Wayne State University Men's Glee Club, were holding the first rehearsal of what is now the Langsford Men's Chorus. Since the beginning the chorus has welcomed all men who sing; by the end of the first season about a third of the members were non-WSU alumni. Over the years our adherence to the principles of excellence in choral music has allowed LMC to grow to over sixty members, all with very diverse musical backgrounds.
Today, the Langsford Men's Chorus stands on its own, proud of our heritage, and dedicated to perform, promote, and perpetuate the art of men's choral music through the brotherhood of song and the fellowship among men.
LMC's season runs from September to May of each year. The concerts are typically held in December- traditionally devoted to Christmas and 'seasonal' songs- and May.
LanSINGout Gay Men's Chorus, a voluntary, not-for-profit community chorus, was organized to provide the opportunity for gay and gay-supportive men to sing together. The primary purpose of the chorus is musical excellence in performance. While striving to achieve this purpose, the chorus provides social and fellowship experiences that deepen and enrich our lives and the opportunity to present a positive image of the gay community to the general public by being an organization of individuals who are making a positive contribution to the community

The Las Vegas Men's Chorus (LVMC) was founded in 1993 by a small group of men who simply wanted to sing. Over the next 30 years, the LVMC found itself providing much more than music: a place to create and foster community and safe spaces through live performances. Social justice, inclusion, diversity, and equity are now at the forefront of LVMC's programming. From humble beginnings of 10 members and 30 patrons, we now boast 85+ active members and 2,000+ patrons in the audience annually at three fully-produced Mainstage Concerts with many Community Outreach Events benefitting thousands more interspersed throughout. Patrons describe attending an LVMC concert as experiencing joy . groups_bio_short : The Las Vegas Men s Chorus creates safe spaces for our community and allies through musical experiences which inspire all of us to be stronger together.
Our story begins on January 3rd, 1978, in a Capitol Hill living room, where enthusiastic singers gathered together to harmonize, after meeting through a Denver Free University class. Our name derived from our unerring ability to find the last note of a song regardless of how well or poorly the rest of the tune was carried. Although we strive for musical excellence, we balance that pursuit with an emphasis on social interaction and inclusiveness.

They were a young, crisply harmonic quartet of sisters who called themselves simply The Lennon Sisters and they made their singing TV debut in 1955 on Lawrence Welk's old-fashioned variety show with sixteen-year-old Dianne (Dee Dee), fourteen-year-old Peggy, twelve-year-old Kathy, and nine-year-old Janet Lennon on board. Their a cappella version of "He" proved a scene-stealing success and America fell hard for these four attractive little innocents and their angelic blend. Welk professionally adopted the girls and The Lennon Sisters became regulars on his show every Saturday night for the next thirteen years. Dubbed "America's Sweethearts of Song," they recorded their first of many albums entitled "Let's Get Acquainted" in May of 1957. So popular were the girls that they became a merchandising factory with coloring books, lunch boxes and doll collections all doing very brisk business.

The most famous line-up of this very successful US close-harmony pop trio comprised Tony Butala (20 November 1940, Sharon, Pennsylvania, USA), Bob Engemann (b. 19 February 1936, Highland Park, Michigan, USA), and Jim Pike (b. 6 November 1938, St. Louis, Missouri, USA). Pike, a letterman at Utah's Brigham Young University, released an unsuccessful single on Warner Brothers Records in 1959. In 1960, he and fellow student and ex-Mormon missionary Engemann formed a trio with Los Angeles-based supper-club singer Butala, who had recorded previously on Topic and Lute and had been using the Lettermen name since 1958.
