We are the 2017 Region 3 Championship Chorus and will be competing against some of the best choruses in the world at the 2018 Sweet Adelines International Competition in St. Louis. M0. What an honor! Our director is Joan Boutilier, tenor of the International Top Ten quartet, Spritzer and tenor of the The Four Bettys, the 2008 International Quartet Champions. She directs us, teaches us, guides us, and inspires us. We're always looking for new members, so if you're a woman who loves to sing, check us out.

River Heights Chorale

As a volunteer choir and 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, The River Heights Chorale is committed to sharing quality music with the surrounding community and has made it a priority to help students, through scholarships, achieve their musical goals beyond high school.

We perform at least two concert series per year and have added a third, special concert, collaborating with local groups to join together for a evening of choral music and fundraising.

By collecting a free will donation at all of our concerts, we are able to donate a portion of these proceeds back to students that are continuing post secondary education and would like to include choral music into their education, either as extra curricular activities or into their field of study. We believe the student does not have to major in music to receive a scholarship from RHC, but rather commit to being involved in a musical activity.

River Lights Chorus

The River Lights Chorus performs in various venues throughout the year, selling out their annual shows. Riveters

Based out of Oakland, CA, The Riveters had their live debut last June at SheSings Women's A Cappella Festival and were received with acclaim. In September 2013, The Riveters were nominated for an A Cappella Community Award in the category of "Favorite Newcomer Group" and one of their singers/arrangers, Lisa Forkish, was nominated for "Favorite Arranger." In addition to receiving praise from the a cappella community, U.K. soul artist Laura Mvula shared The Riveters' cover of her song "She" and exclaimed, "Oh my goodness, oh my goodness, oh wow!" Coming from various high school, collegiate and pro groups including 'Til Dawn, Vocal Rush Divisi, Noteworthy, Ro Sham Bo and The Backbeats, this fierce fivesome is armed and ready to bring their fresh, soulful sound into the world. Rock River Valley Chorus

The RRVBC has 52 active members, ranging in age from 16 to 88. While many of its members live in the Sterling - Rock Falls area, it has members that come from all over Northwestern Illinois.

In addition to weekly rehearsals, RRVBC's annual events include a show each Spring; the Youth In Harmony workshop, which provides high school students from over a half a dozen area school in the Sauk Valley area the opportunity to learn barbershop style singing; Sermon & Song Programs at Area Churches; participating in area Christmas Walks; and Singing Valentines throughout the Sauk Valley. These performances allow us to raise money. While a portion of the funds covers chorus expenses, we are most proud of our ability to make financial contributions each year to many area organizations. Since 1995, we have donated over $32,000!

Rock the Ages

There's the kind of rocker you sit on, traditionally on the front porch. And then there are the 30 members of a rather extraordinary choral group called Rock the Ages. Formed six years ago, Rock the Ages was inspired by a 2008 British documentary, "Young@Heart," that focused on the novelty of a New England senior citizen chorus singing contemporary rock and pop songs. Under the direction of Barry Blum, a professional musician and multi-instrumentalist, Rock the Ages has headlined at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley twice, opened for Huey Lewis and the News, and brought the house down at a recent concert of Bay Area choirs, most of them youth groups, at the Masonic in San Francisco.

Rock Voices

Rock Voices is a community choir that only sings rock music! There are no auditions (unless you want a solo) and anyone can sing. Actually, it's less like a choir and more like a rock band with a lot of singers. We perform concerts, we raise money for organizations in need, and we have fun together. There are even social events for choir members (e.g. holiday-themed parties, karaoke nights, potlucks, etc.).

Conceived in 2011 by Tony Lechner, Rock Voices has spread to three states (VT, MA, and CT) and has grown into a real community of people just like you; people who enjoy singing the music they grew up with (as well as some current music, too!). Come to a rehearsal near you and check it out.

Rockapella

As one of the progenitors of the astonishing full-band sound of "contemporary" a cappella, Rockapella has shown every audience the raw power of pure vocal talent and originality. "There's nothing in the way between us and the audience; it's very human music," says Rockapella's human beatbox Jeff Thacher. No instruments, no tracks, no mirrors...but never lame.

Since the early '90's when they first achieved national television fame on PBS's Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?, they've toured the globe and provided a funky powerful soundtrack to several generations of vocal music fans, while keeping it all fresh along the way. With buckets of catchy original pop songs, and complete contemporary revisions of sparkling Motown, pop, and soul classics, this group has always been the one to watch.

Rockbridge Choral Society

ormed in 1976, the Rockbridge Choral Society is a community chorus of amateur singers performing in and around the historic town of Lexington in the lower Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Its performances are frequently augmented by a professional chamber orchestra and soloists with instrumentalists and singers from across the region and the country. The Rockbridge Choral Society is the parent organization for the Rockbridge Chorus, the Rockbridge Youth Chorale and the Rockbridge Chamber Singers. Together, these groups bring to the area's audiences an eclectic repertoire of vocal literature from Renaissance to contemporary.

The Rockbridge Choral Society's mission is to present choral music at the highest level of excellence and to encourage in both singers and listeners an appreciation for the art of choral and ensemble singing through live performances, education, and the encouragement of new choral composition.

Rockefeller Chapel Choir

Singing sacred masterworks of all periods and styles, this choir of 30-40 voices performs at Sunday morning services in the magnificent acoustics of Rockefeller Memorial Chapel. Firmly rooted in the tradition of Palestrina, Victoria, Bach, and Mozart, the choir also performs music of Africa and South America, modern and forgotten treasures, and even liturgical chant from Hildegard to Anglican. With an infinity to the great academic cathedrals of Europe, the choir strives to provide professional level performances, with a University of Chicago flair for innovation and recreation. The choir also presents three additional concerts per season, such as performances of Bach's St. John Passion with period instruments and world premieres of new music. From within the group, the Decani (formerly the Rockefeller Sixteen) sings 2-3 Sundays each quarter, concentrating on music written before 1700. Thanks to a generous grant from the University of Chicago Women's Board the Rockefeller Chapel Choir will be awarding four $4,000 scholarships to outstanding undergraduate singers of all faith and cultural backgrounds.

Rogue Valley Chorale

The Rogue Valley Chorale is Southern Oregon's oldest public choral organization. It was founded in 1973 by a group of local musicians who were eager to provide a forum for performing fine choral music. Forty-five singers presented the premier concert of the Rogue Valley Chorale on December 4, 1973. On the program were Bach's Komm, Jesu komm and Respighi's Laud to the Nativity.

The Chorale Organization has grown in number and musical stature in the past four decades and now includes 100 adults and 200 youth. The group has conducted five European tours and performed in Salzburg, Austria for Mozart's 250th birthday celebration.

Rogue Voices

Simply put, we love to entertain. Our goal is for our audience to leave our shows with a smile on their face and a song in their heart! We sing all sorts of a cappella music. Our repertoire ranges from classic harmonies, to doo wap, patriotic, spiritual, blues, rock & roll and novelty songs, all in close four-part harmony.

We welcome visitors to every rehearsal. We are always looking for men and women and who are interested in singing a cappella harmony (many of our best singers had no formal singing experience before joining us. We will gladly help you gain the skills necessary to sing harmony with us!).

Rolling Hills Chorus

Rolling Hills Chorus is an all-women's chorus founded in 1980. Based in Pasco, Washington, the chorus brings traditional a cappella barbershop harmony to their repertoire of American popular song. Barbershop harmony is a uniquely homegrown American vocal sound produced by four voice parts, with harmony parts both above and below the melody. Any woman can find a voice part that fits her vocal range, from high lyric sopranos to those who sing in men's tenor range. The warm sound is combined with energetic original choreography.

Chorus members range in age, occupation and come from all over Eastern Washington, from Selah to Walla Walla, to rehearse each Thursday evening at the Pasco City Hall Activity Center.

The Chorus entertains at community events, private parties, sporting events, and hosts an original full-length scripted show each year. Each spring, the chorus competes in the Sweet Adelines International North by Northwest regional competition. Highly competitive, they have earned first place in their division numerous times, including the last four years running.

Getting the sound and choreography just right is important to chorus members, but the friendships formed on the risers are important as well. In addition, Sweet Adelines as an organization is focused on lifelong learning to develop both music and leadership skills.

Roomful of Teeth

Roomful of Teeth is an eight-voice vocal ensemble that embraces the full spectrum of vocal practices and, through an on-going commissioning project, develops new compositions for voices.

Founded in 2008 by singer, conductor and composer Brad Wells, Roomful of Teeth is built on the premise that the membranes that separate one vocal technique or style from another are permeable, that any singer can learn any "non-native" singing language.

International experts in a wide range of vocal techniques - throat singers Ayan-ool Sam and Sean Quirk of Alash, belting coach Gayle Lockwood, and master yodeler Kerry Christensen - trained the singers in their respective styles. Next, composers Judd Greenstein of NOW Ensemble and New Amsterdam Records, Rinde Eckert, finalist for the 2007 Pulitzer Prize in Drama, and Brian Simalchik of Williams College wrote music tailored specifically to the singers and their now wider range of vocal techniques. The collective performed these works, as well as compositions by members of the ensemble, (all music written in the space of eight days) to a sell out audience on Friday, June 26 at Mass MoCA.

Root7

Root 7 is a contemporary a cappella group located in the Burlington, Vermont area. We are a group of working professionals who make time to embrace the joys of singing with one another. We perform regularly throughout Vermont, including at the annual Burlington Independence Day celebration, 51 Main in Middlebury, the Champlain Valley Fair, the Common Ground Center in Starksboro, local farmers markets, weddings, private holiday parties, and at many other events, large and small. We have a lot of fun singing together, and we love to share that with new audiences.

Rose City Timberliners

The Rose City Timberliners is a multi-generational inclusive Barbershop Chorus that requires no audition. We meet on Wednesday nights from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Rose City Park United Methodist Church, 5830 NE Alameda Street in the Rose City Park neighborhood of NE Portland. We typically perform 30 to 40 times per year at various venues, including senior living facilities, parks, hospitals and community events.

Round Rock Community Choir

The Round Rock Community Choir sings with excellence while celebrating the joy and power of music. From sacred requiems to American Folk music, Broadway hits to holiday favorites, our performances reflect a wide range of musical styles. Our membership is as diverse as our repertoire. Our volunteer members hail from across Central Texas and represent a wide variety of ages, musical backgrounds, and training. But we agree on one thing. Since 1985, our commitment to artistic excellence and community enrichment remains the cornerstone of the organization as we provide concert-goers with the finest choral experiences, featuring challenging and exciting programs performed by a talented ensemble of singers.

Rounders

In a relatively short amount of time, Rounders has made quite a splash in the world of barbershop harmony. A new group on the scene, Alex, Sean, Dan, & Kenny bring many years of quartet singing together to create a wonderful blend of vocal excitement, musicality, and just plain fun. After only one month of singing together, Rounders qualified to represent the state of Florida in the International Quartet Competition in Louisville, KY. Following this early success, they went on to place 12th in the world after only three more months, edging out many of the seasoned competitors! What's their secret? Dedication, personal commitment, and a whole lot of hard work...a combination that spells almost certain success in the future for these four musicians. We think you'll agree when you hear them, so make yourself comfortable in that seat, get in your best listening mood, and enjoy the exciting new sound of Rounders!

Roxborough Male Chorus

Producing two concerts a year, during the spring and winter seasons, the Roxborough Male Chorus sang its first concert on April 24, 1923 at the Green Valley Country Club (Lafayette Hill, Pa). Its first director, William C. Ames, and its first accompanist, William E. Tippet, created the singing group for men, who loved music and resided in and around the neighborhood.

Royal Counts

Jersey based group from the 60's had a loyal following in the area but never enjoyed the national success they desereved. Combining elements of doo-wop and soul, the Royal Counts were produced by Relic Record's Stan Krause, as were his later discovery, the Persuasions, and the sound of the two groups is similar.

Royal River Chorus

Enriching. Empowering. Life-Changing. Fun. Barbershop, an original American art form, is a four-part (tenor, lead, baritone, bass) a cappella harmony style of singing famous for its "ringing" chords, which produce overtones that sound like fifth notes.

Sing. Learn. Connect. Sparkle. Royal River is one of a 500-strong worldwide family of barbershop choruses that women join for the love of a capella singing and stay forever because of friendships formed and a depth of support that can't be found elsewhere.

RPM Voices of Rhode Island

RPM Voices of Rhode Island's mission is to create a musical space for all voices to participate in the African American choral tradition through an ongoing experiential education cycle of instruction and performance.

RPM Voices of Rhode Island is a non-profit 501(c) (3) arts organization. We offer an experiential educational curriculum committed to the preservation of African American folk traditions and cultural expressions as preserved through choral music. Founded by Dr. Clarice LaVerne Thompson, Artistic Director, and Shaunne N. Thomas, RPM Voices began through the efforts of Dr. Thompson, who offered the first Choral Music workshop during the winter of 2003 on the campus of Brown University. The first workshop chorus, originally called the RPM Singers, later became RPM Voices of Rhode Island and received non-profit status in 2010.

Rue Claire

Rue Claire is a close-harmony vocal-trio sisterhood, although only two are related. Mother-daughter combination Susan Miller and Rebecca Rand trade high and middle parts, while Theresa Madeira rounds out the trio as the alto foundation for bluesy-folky selections that range from bluegrass to Appalachian, and from Gershwin to contemporary indie.

We are driven by a common love of beautiful music no matter the genre, and are bound by mutual respect for what each of us uniquely brings to the expression and art. Founded in the Bay Area in 2012 as an a cappella group, we continue to explore our sound and expand our range, adding new arrangements and original songs to our playlist. All the while, a cappella remains at the core of our collective soul and we are humbly excited to bring our passion to the Harmony Sweepstakes.

Rumors

Rumors, the 1999 International Champion Quartet of Sweet Adelines International has been singing together for five years, but have known each other for more than 20. When they were jailed in 1993 for falsely representing themselves as sane individuals, they found that singing together didn't make them deathly ill, just mildly dizzy, sometimes nauseated. This was an acceptable trade off for ringing chords now and then.

All four are career women in very diverse fields. In a field in Richardson Texas, the baritone, Dale Syverson, is the entertainment director for a nudist community. She has donned clothes especially for the publicity picture and, as their contract specifies, for all show performances. Any afterglow performance should be viewed as an "attend at your own risk" proposition. Lead Judy Baxter, a north Dallas outfielder, is a crisis counselor at the same community. She is the top ranked professional in the field for creating crisis in a controlled atmosphere. Only Hurricane Andrew has a higher ranking..

Rural Route 4

When the Rural Route 4 won the international quartet championship in 1986, they did not exactly qualify as an overnight sensation. Organized in 1971 by four residents of Cass County MO., the quartet would not win the gold until 15 years and two personnel changes later. Along the way were dozens of contests, from the chapter to international level, and years of hard work. But there was fun too, ar the RR4 gradually built a reputation as on of the most entertaining show quartets around.
