The group continued to perform worldwide. They recorded commercials with Gilda Maiken (Anderson) of The Skylarks singing melody. The group stayed with Decca until 1949, when they moved over to Capitol and later to Era. In 1954 Vern Rowe took over for Dick Baldwin. The foursome of Judd and Ted McMichael, Marjorie Garland McMichael, and Vern Rowe continued the group's activities until 1964 when the act retired. Their last American performance was a 1968 reunion at the Hollywood Bowl. One of Ted's daughters, Geri Benson, became a second-generation lead singer of the Marry Macs, keeping the group's tradition alive. Ted is the only surviving member of the group and lives in Hemet, California, with his wife Carolyn.
The Messiah Choral Society is a not for profit, 501(c)3 civic organization based in Winter Park, Florida. The society is not affiliated with any religious organization. We are open for all singers to participate. Each year, with generous community support, we raise all the funds necessary to continue our mission of providing a fine performance which is free to the public.
Over 40 years ago, William Eugene "Bill" Jarvis, a prominent Orlando music director, formed the society with the philosophy that Handel's Messiah was worthy of a group dedicated solely to the performance of this masterpiece. The extraordinary vision of William Jarvis continues to inspire us to perform this classical oratorio annually as a gift to the Orlando community.
MECC is open to all who love to sing. No audition is required but some choral music experience is recommended.
Inspiring - Exciting - Entertaining
These words describe this top-notch women's chorus. From standard classics to contemporary favorites, Metro Mix Chorus will dazzle you with performances not soon forgotten.
You'll find yourself tapping your toes to the energetic, rhythmic, upbeat tunes, and then humming the dreamy ballads expressed in distinctive 4-part harmony. It's entertainment at its best with a touch of humor, stunning costumes and snappy choreography.
Metro Nashville Chorus was chartered as a Sweet Adelines International chorus in 1971 and has performed and promoted 4-part barbershop harmony in middle Tennessee for more than 40 years.
We are blessed to be under the direction of Master Director Kim Wonders. There are over 20,000 women and other marginalized genders involved in Sweet Adelines, and more than 600 choruses around the world. Every chorus, like every family, is special in its own way.
Our chorus is made up of members who are committed to each other and the music we create together. A coach once told us we "sing like we're holding hands" - with a connection that the audience can feel - and we try to live up to that with every song. We love to rehearse, we love to compete, we love to perform...and we'd love you to join us!

A quartet was organized by four employees at the Bell & Howell Company. Marty Mendro, lead; Forrest Haynes, baritone; and Bob Corbett, bass. Haynes had been a member of a quartet that was one of the last to appear on the Keith road show circuit on stage and radio. Mendro, a soloist in church choirs during his younger years, was introduced to barbershop harmony at Bell & Howell during World War II. The foursome became 6th place international finalists in 1945 and 1946 and were Illinois District champions in 1946.When three of the quartet members left Bell & Howell, the group changed its name to the Mid-States Four. The president of the Mid States Insurance Company had taken an interest in the quartet and offered to sponsor them, providing uniforms and expenses in return for jobs done for his firm if they would use the corporate name.
The Mid-Columbia Mastersingers was founded as "Consort Columbia" in 1986 by Estyn Goss, as an elite choir of auditioned singers. Since its beginning, the group has been a versatile one, having embodied at times a musical theatre group, symphonic chorus, operatic chorus and also serving as the umbrella organization for a children's choir. Mr. Goss led the group for 10 years, and following artistic directors included Reginald Unterseher (1996-2004) and Robert Bode (2005-2008), with Justin Raffa taking the position in 2008. Since his arrival, the choir has continued to grow in musical excellence, has become more widely-known throughout the community, and has dramatically increased its budget. Our musical selections run the gamut from sacred to show tunes; varied and diverse as is our membership. We strongly believe more voices makes for a stronger chorus. Because of this, we don't hold auditions. We use Open Rehearsals as a way for potential new members to find out if they are comfortable singing with us.

The Midwest Motet Society was formed in the winter of 2006. With a mission to bring quality chamber choral music to Chicago's Southland, the Midwest Motet Society is the only chamber ensemble performing this repertoire on a regular basis in the area.
The Midwest Motet Society is a chamber choir, based in the southern suburbs of Chicago. There is a whole repertoire of music not usually performed in our community and we believe it should be. The music we perform is a very specific kind-written for only a few voices on a part, such as madrigals and motets and even Bach Cantatas. Brahms wrote music for vocal quartets and piano and we have performed two of those works. With only a few voices on a part, each person and their voice is very important.
There is a greater opportunity to really know the other singers and to react to them musically. As a chamber choir, we usually perform in smaller venues, such as churches or people's homes. There is an intimacy not only with each other in our ensemble, but with our audience.

The brothers were highly successful and well liked. They were recognized nationally, then internationally. In 1934, The Mills Brothers became the first African-Americans to give a command performance before British royalty. They performed at the Regal Theatre for a special audience; King George V, Queen Mary, and the very special woman sitting in a box seat, their mother. Soon after this, while performing in England, John Jr. became ill. He was months recovering from pneumonia. Before he was completely well, the Brothers returned to England. John Jr. once again became sick, then died in the beginning of 1936.
After signing the three-year contract with William S. Paley, they became a national sensation. Their first record recorded for Brunswick, a remake of their "Tiger Rag" became a nation wide seller, the only record at that time to sell more than a million copies. Other hits quickly followed -- "Goodbye blues", their theme song, "You're Nobody's Sweetheart Now," "Ole Rockin' Chair," "Lazy River", "How'm I doin'," and others.
