Chicago Master Singers (CMS), an Illinois not-for-profit organization, was founded in 1979 as The New Oratorio Singers. Under the guidance of founding director Thomas Wikman, the chorus' goal was to perform concerts in the northwestern suburbs of Chicago and bring great music to audiences outside the cultural center of the city.
Over the years, CMS has refined and expanded its artistic mission to include the presentation of great choral works at the highest artistic level for the cultural enrichment of its members and the communities it serves. From 1989 to 2020, the chorus was under the artistic direction of Alan Heatherington, and during this time CMS expanded its annual performances from three to six, grew to a membership of 140 singers and diversified its venues to include performance sites throughout metropolitan Chicago. Divine Word Chapel at Techny Towers in Northbrook became a regular performance location.

The Chicago News experienced a meteoric rise in International Barbershop annals -- from finalists to second-place medalists to the coveted International Champion gold medals in only three years! This feat was not due to luck, for these were seasoned performers in prominent quartets before forming the Chicago News. The NEWS have had the pleasure of singing hundreds of shows from coast to coast in the U.S., Canada and in Europe. They've been heard and seen on the nation's radio and T.V. stations, including the Phil Donahue Show. Along the way they have shared the stage with such famous singing groups as the HILOS, the Kingston Trio, the Four Freshmen, the King Singers and the Singers Unlimited before hanging up their pitchpipe in 1985. The idea of a possible redux grew several years ago when they came out of retirement at the request of a Florida chapter to do a show honoring the NEWS, immediately followed by another show at the famous Chicago Theater for the Chicagoland Association of Barbershop Chapters.

One of the first actions of the group was to argue long and hard about what the name of the group should be. There were a whole host of possible names: WeWopDoo (from Peter Harlan, master of cheese), New Caboose, Vox Populi, Digital Voice Exchange, Five Guys named Moe, etc. Eventually, a compromise was reached with Chicago Voice Exchange. Hurrah.

There's a nice close-up photo of one of the gold medals won in 1988 by this quartet from Des Plaines, IL on the back of 'Solid Gold,' and it's a beautiful thing-an apt match for the beauty of the performance that it takes to win one of them! There's also some great pix of the guys in Irish green outfits, in WWI military uniforms and in a nice group picture. 12 songs, some favorites: 'Looking at the World Through Rose Colored Glasses,' 'What Kind Of Fool Am I,' the very funny 'I Used To Call Her Baby/Baby Face/I Want A Girl Medley,' 'It's A Great Day for the Irish/It's A Long Way to Tipperary/MacNamara's Band Medley,' 'They Were All Out Of Step But Jim,' 'Lonesome, That's All,' Ricky Nelson's 'Mary Lou' and 'Kiss Me One More Time.' 'Solid Gold' is a finely-crafted, spirited collection from a hugely talented quartet who were named 1988's International Champs!
The Children's Choir of Central Virginia was established to serve children and youth from Charlottesville and Crozet, as well as surrounding cities and towns. Our goal is to provide a full range of youth choir programs for ages six to eighteen.

The children will have the opportunity for local, national, and international tours.
To truly and fully enjoy making music with others, singers want to be fluent in the language of music, as well as in vocal training. Choral music education, especially for children, should always lead to music literacy (the ability to read and write music). We believe that music literacy is a basic tool of self-expression and enjoyment that everyone can enjoy

Welcome to the Choo Choo Chorus, a place to join in song, fellowship, and fun! We are 30+ male voices blended in four-part barbershop harmony with romantic melodies and entertaining humor that appeal to a wide variety of audiences.
The Choo Choo Chorus is the performing unit of the Chattanooga Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. While preserving and expanding the presence of barbershop harmony in the greater Chattanooga area, we also try to encourage harmony in local affairs. We sing for Memorial Day and Veterans Day at the National Cemetery, at nursing homes and retirement centers, for special events like the grand opening of the remodeled Chattanooga City Hall, etc., mostly for free. We earn our operating budget by singing at events like private parties or corporate events, and we put on a Christmas show every year for the benefit of a local charity. Singing Valentines and our annual shows are our major fundraisers.
We also compete twice a year with other choruses from Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia.
The Society was founded in 1899 by Boleslaus Michalski, a Polish immigrant, who served as organist at St. Adalbert's Basilica. It was there that the Society first found a home. The Society soon moved to its own premises located at 1210 Broadway. Subsequently, it purchased property at 18-24 Kosciuszko Street where it was located for over sixty years.
The Society was incorporated as a cultural and educational Society in 1914. The incorporators were Joseph Dulski, father of former Congressman Thaddeus Dulski (also a Chopin member) and Lawrence Nagowski, long-time treasurer of the Society. From that period until 1949 the Society enjoyed growth and a high level of excellence in its choral work. In 1912, the Society won first place as best men's chorus in the International Singers' Alliance Competition. In 1990, the choir won first place as best overall Chorus.
Chor Anno is a mixed choir of 32 singers, most of whom direct choirs in schools, colleges, and churches in four northwest states, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Wyoming. It was fun coming up with a name for this group and we admit it's a slight stretch with the Latin translation to say "Chor Anno" means "The annual choir." So, we argue...it's a name, not a translation!

Some of us even hunt for Bigfoot! We differ in many ways. What brings us together? Is it the music? Friendships? The sparkly costumes? Absolutely! But most of all it's the exhilaration of doing something we love, the satisfaction of doing it exceptionally well, and the joy of sharing it with others.
