This loosely-knit congregation of singers have been singing for Colorado audiences for 26 years. Known colloquially as the Wizards, they, in turn, founded the Colorado Vocal Jazz Society. The 14 songs on this CD, nearly all arranged by Ed Wolff, former Wizard and Whiffenpoof, are of premium entertainment value, sort of like a sing-along at your favorite drinking establishment - only with much better pitch! Whether the '50's hit "I'm Going To Sit Right Down And Write Myself A Letter," the Muppets "Bein' Green," or the hilarious "The Mississippi Squirrel Revival" ("he thought he had a weedeater loose in his Fruit-Of-The-Looms"), the Wizards have got chuckles up their sleeves and a tune in their hearts. "Indian Prayer" shows a moment of solemn reverie, and an "Ellington Blues Medley" finishes off the proceedings with style. A great gift idea, with something for everyone. |
