Ably led by master director and arranger Michael Gellart, this energized ensemble from Brooklyn, Maryland, brings us an entertaining mixture of 12 songs from the '40's to the '90's including pop, blues, jazz, show tunes and classics. HCMC recently won first place, mid-size chorus at the Sweet Adelines International Regional Competition in Ocean City. Favorites are Gellert-arranged "Fly Me to the Moon," a powerful "Shenandoah," Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Unexpected Song," Lennon/McCartney's "Baby, You Can Drive My Car," The Mamas & the Papas' "California Dreaming" and a heart-tugging "Jimmy Webb Medley." Not unexpectedly, very good stuff! |
