Five talented young male singers and musicians come together to form Almost Recess, an a cappella band from the DC area, whose goal is to "bring kickin' a cappella music to every single person in the world." Their backgrounds range from jazz drumming to trombone to piano, but what unites them is their love of singing. Their debut CD "Full Speed" has 10 covers, beautifully arranged to take advantage of the group's solid vocal percussion, strong leads and crisp, fresh sound. Particularly nice are "King of Wishful Thinking," "Never a Second Embrace," Smoky Robinson's "My Girl," "This Everyday Love," "Carpe Diem," "Everywhere," "Burned" and "Harder to Breathe." Almost Recess has attitude, spirit, talent and they aren't afraid to use any of them! We like this group a lot, and "Full Speed Ahead" is an impressive debut CD for them.
