Review: This 8-minute work has three distinct sections that flow together without stopping. The Gloria section that opens the work is exuberant and rhythmic. The miserere middle section is poignant and stirring. The et in terra pax section is assuring and comforting. Other accompaniments are available by rental: Brass Quintet and Percussion, Chamber Orchestra and Full Orchestra.

Selected for the David Dickau Signature Series, this love song opens with touches of counterpoint this English folk song before moving into the familiar refrain. The balance of accompaniment and a cappella moments make this an excellent work for developing balance and blend.

Three French Canadian folk songs make a superb set for any concert program. Roll On, My Ball, Roll On tells a tale of ducks and hunting and silver guns and an evil prince, all the while you can picture a small child rolling a ball down a lane. Provided in the original French, all three songs enable an exploration in French-speaking Canada. The complete set includes J'ai Cueilli la Belle Rose, Petit Rocher, and En Roulant Ma Boule Roulant.
Arranger: Matthew Emery
High school choral director, Jonathan Adams, has composed a number of beautiful a cappella pieces. This setting of Ecclesiastes 3:11 contains those yummy suspensions and cadences that choirs yearn for. A great church anthem, this piece also fits the concert hall for high school, college and community groups.

Can learning Solfege really be fun? Is it possible to sing a song on Solfege in a concert? Ken Berg answered that question in a big way when, years ago, he wrote the first Galop for young voices. 100,000 copies later, plus an SAB voicing, it seemed only right to release a voicing for SATB. The song is a concert-pleaser for sure, and the learning of Solfege is undeniable. Easy.

Brian Tate is a master at creating a new song that sounds seasoned in time. Equally amazing is how natural the vocal parts are - almost singing themselves. Gather at the River reminds us of a hymn but sounds like a spiritual, and yet the message remains ubiquitous - both sacred and secular. Middle schools, high schools, churches and community choirs will find this an excellent piece to program. Easy.

It's got soul - it's got rhythm - it's got spirit - it's a great piece to sing. With barely a nod to the classic Spiritual, Ellen Foncannon has created her own spirited tune and gospel-type words. The character of the song lends itself to either church or school. Great for high school choirs and festivals too. Easy.
Composer: Ellen Foncannon
From the Book of Common Prayer comes a supplication of gratefulness for all that God has provided. Memley's setting is immediately captivating. A strong melody and fulfilling accompaniment make this a worthy offering for Thanksgiving or any service of gratitude.

This great spiritual arrangement with optional djembe accompaniment could be the winner release for 2007. You can't sit still for this one. With optional solos and driving ostinato statements this piece does not let you down! Another super arrangement from Canadian composer, Brian Tate.

The text was found on a basement wall in Cologne after WWII, and embodies the strength of optimism we grasp at times of despair. Dedicated to the Katrina victims, Jonathan Adams has created a moving musical setting. In close harmonies he produces a melody that rises with the poem. Equally effective for church or school.

This African song contains easy ostinato patterns that are simple to learn but sound wonderfully complex when all put together. An excellent selection for concert or festival use.

Three French Canadian folk songs make a superb set for any concert program. The Small Rock finds our poet climbing the hills to find comfort, wishing for wings like the birds she hears, and finally praying to God and the Holy Virgin for help. Provided in the original French, all three songs enable an exploration in French-speaking Canada. J'ai Cueilli la Belle Rose, Petit Rocher, and EnRouland Ma Boule Roulant.

This energetic processional for a cappella voices and percussion defies categorization. This fun original work includes some alternate text ideas that make it useful for almost any occasion. The rhythms are hypnotic and the harmonies engaging.
Composer: Graeme Langager
Reminiscent of the 1980s but joyfully transcendent to the present day, Brian Tate gives us a gospel style song of optimism and hope. This tune will get an audience or congregation swaying. All choirs will gravitate to this upbeat song.

This new spiritual became a fast favorite when the SAB edition was released several years ago. Can it be - the SATB voicing is even hotter? This will be great for church or school. Available: SATB, SAB.

It was time for a new piece to serve as the concert closer and this is it. Selected for the Mike Scheibe Choral Series, this benediction uses the text of an ancient Scottish blessing that is delightfully generic in nature. Warm, deep and melodic, this is a benediction that can be used anywhere - church, school, college, community. Provided with both a piano and optional organ accompaniment (available separately), this selection is a precious end to any event. Easy to medium in difficulty.

The love poem by James Stephens begs for a beautiful melody and David Dickau has complied. Above his signature harmonies and tasteful dissonances, Dr. Dickau places a gorgeous tune, first presented by a solo baritone voice. Perfect for high school, college and community choirs. Medium difficulty.
Composer: David Dickau
This is beautifully crafted piece with an expressive melody, enticing harmonies and a meaningful text. Originally written as an accompanied piece for high school graduation, an a cappella setting was created later. Both versions appear in this publication and can be performed individually or as one extended anthem. Appropriate for church or school.
Composer: Jonathan Adams
The Road Not Taken is one of America's favorite poems from Robert Frost, one of America's favorite writers. Respected composer David Dickau has given a new tune to this classic text. The musical writing matches the text superbly and with the melodic and harmonic flavor which are hallmarks of Dickau's compositional style. High school and college choirs will love this piece - an American classic.

The poem is attributed to Leonardo da Vinci and it is one of hope and possibility. Jonathan Adams gives flight to the words with an animated accompaniment and an opening choral fanfare. An excellent graduation or spring concert number, it will be popular with high school choirs. Medium difficulty.
Composer: Jonathan Adams
Dr. Dickau's works have already become festival favorites, and this one follows right in step. Provided both in Latin and English versions, this classic text is given a fresh face in contemporary choral colors reminiscent of the 20th century madrigal style.
Composer: David C. Dickau
Jonathan Talberg's choral series has produced a library of excellence for the advanced a cappella choir, and this latest entry is a beauty. Richard Burchard tends to write in a density that is thick and rich, yet this composition has an openness that feels new and equally satisfying.

From the sensual biblical book, the Song of Solomon, Debra Scroggins creates a sonorous love song. The Hebrew text is matched with harmonies indicative of the Jewish culture. A lamenting oboe obbligato adds to the beauty. This concert piece fits high school and college choirs and community choirs. Medium difficulty.

A fantastic piece that utilizes not only sung notes but also sounds and effects, this a cappella pieces captures your attention from the start and never lets go. An old Japanese children's folk melody, the exact meaning of the words are still under debate, though that is the mystery of children's folk songs. This piece has been selected for the Ron Kean Multicultural Series. Excellent for high school, college and community choirs. Medium to Difficult.
