Barbershop Harmony Society : Barbershop Tag Singing  Have you ever walked by a group of performers and been completely drawn in? Their focus, their sound, their look, their persistence for excellence and authenticity? The pursuit of high-level singing and performing is a huge part of the experience for many people who sing barbershop. Barbershop harmony, however, also has an embedded experience that isn't tied to the musical outcome, but just the shared experience of making spontaneous music. This is called tag singing. Teaching, learning, and singing tags is an opportunity for all types of learners to enhance their skill set for both the singer and the teacher. Whether by rote or sight reading from paper or digital access, tag singing brings people together to experience close harmony and to share in the joy of creating something together. There is no better feeling when you witness that level of inspiration and empowerment in your classroom!
