Review: This 8-minute work has three distinct sections that flow together without stopping. The Gloria section that opens the work is exuberant and rhythmic. The miserere middle section is poignant and stirring. The et in terra pax section is assuring and comforting. Other accompaniments are available by rental: Brass Quintet and Percussion, Chamber Orchestra and Full Orchestra.

Written for the honor choirs of southeast Minnesota, this is a joyful and dignified piece. The poem by Edna St. Vincent Millay expresses an appreciation for life, for its simple pleasures of nature and civilization. Dickau's writing provides a distinctive piano part and intriguing vocal writing, for which he is well-known. The spirit of the piece is upbeat, positive and fine craftsmanship. An excellent festival and concert piece. Medium in difficulty.
Composer: David Dickau
Truly an uplifting piece of promise and hope with a stirring history, this setting by English composer Paul Ayres is appropriate for graduation ceremonies, and concert occasions. Appropriate for both children's voices or adult voices, the optional cello part is a moving addition. A chamber orchestral accompaniment is available separately.

The new Jonathan Talberg Choral Series features advanced music of distinction for festival use. Dr. Talberg (Cal State Univ. When Ken Berg's first Solfege Suite for 2-part voices appeared a few years ago, the response was unprecedented. Now the first set of three songs (Galop, March and Bolero) has been revoiced for SAB (middle school) choir and offers the same opportunities for learning the do-re-mi's that doubles as a concert piece.
Composer: Ken Berg
As with most of the other Solfege Suite selections, this piece can be sung entirely in unison by following the melody voice throughout. The divisi in the melody lines are either in octaves or very simple 3rds. The harmony voice, while really cool, is entirely optional. Directors may choose to use them with a section of voices or an ensemble of voices, or not use them at all.
Composer: Ken Berg
Professor Sharon Gratto has built a career providing historical context to multicultural and folk music. Pavane Publishing is proud to launch her new series with this classic tune attributed to Huddie Ledbetter. A simple three-part treble choir accompanied by a stand-up bass gives an authentic American home-spun quality to the work. Truly fun to sing, this arrangement sounds just the way the song should always be sung.
Composer: Huddie Ledbetter
Classic Brian Tate: an uplifting text, catchy and sing-able a cappella counterpoint, uniquely combining a folk and spiritual sound, this is a winner. Arranged for male voices now, this piece joins several other voicings in our catalog.

Sometimes all you need is a title to get your attention. This is one sweet tune, with a clever word game in every phrase. Originally from an entire sweet of clever word songs for SATB, this voicing works for almost any group. Available: 2-Part.
Composer: Allan Robert Petker
Selected for the David Dickau Signature Series, this love song opens with touches of counterpoint this English folk song before moving into the familiar refrain. The balance of accompaniment and a cappella moments make this an excellent work for developing balance and blend.

Selected for the new Music of the Americas Multicultural Series from North Dakota State University, this zesty piece hails from Mexico. The encouraging message is that chuchumbé will reach you whether things go good or bad. It is similar to saying the rhythm or dance of life will positively infect you no matter what. And what a great dance it is, with hand percussion bringing additional rhythm to the piece. The verses are so playful it is appropriate for performers to alter the words based on the region in which they are singing. Easy to Medium. For male choirs in high school or college.
Arranger: Jorge Cozati
Three French Canadian folk songs make a superb set for any concert program. Roll On, My Ball, Roll On tells a tale of ducks and hunting and silver guns and an evil prince, all the while you can picture a small child rolling a ball down a lane. Provided in the original French, all three songs enable an exploration in French-speaking Canada. The complete set includes J'ai Cueilli la Belle Rose, Petit Rocher, and En Roulant Ma Boule Roulant.
Arranger: Matthew Emery
This song sings its message loud and clear: singing in a choir teaches community. Children love the message and how the tunes work together, musically illustrating the point. Great for children's choirs, festivals and concert. Easy.

Brian Tate is a master at creating a new song that sounds seasoned in time. Equally amazing is how natural the vocal parts are - almost singing themselves. Gather at the River reminds us of a hymn but sounds like a spiritual, and yet the message remains ubiquitous - both sacred and secular. Middle schools, high schools, churches and community choirs will find this an excellent piece to program. Easy.
Composer: Brian Tate
It's got soul - it's got rhythm - it's got spirit - it's a great piece to sing. With barely a nod to the classic Spiritual, Ellen Foncannon has created her own spirited tune and gospel-type words. The character of the song lends itself to either church or school. Great for high school choirs and festivals too. Easy.
Composer: Ellen Foncannon
From the Book of Common Prayer comes a supplication of gratefulness for all that God has provided. Memley's setting is immediately captivating. A strong melody and fulfilling accompaniment make this a worthy offering for Thanksgiving or any service of gratitude.
Composer: Kevin Memley
A mother's love for her daughter as she grows up is expressed in this poem by Jenice Meagher Cutler. Debra Scroggins' musical setting lives up to the title. The tenderness and emotion are deep, and the warmth of the cello only adds to the sentiment. Excellent for treble choirs high school and older.
Composer: Debra Scroggins
Brian Tate has cleverly combined the texts from a variety of frequently used spirituals to create a brand new choral selection. The yearning for belonging is quickly evident and rocks gently to a satisfying finish.

The text was found on a basement wall in Cologne after WWII, and embodies the strength of optimism we grasp at times of despair. Dedicated to the Katrina victims, Jonathan Adams has created a moving musical setting. In close harmonies he produces a melody that rises with the poem. Equally effective for church or school.
Composer: Jonathan Adams
Already a haunting melody, this setting is even more captivating with the addition of the oboe obbligato. Although piano can always accompany adequately, the use of harp furthers the mystic sonorities. This is a stunning Christmas concert selection of medium difficulty.

The moving WWI poem by John McCrae has received many choral treatments, but talented composer, Doug Andrews, gives us a refreshing musical perspective. The lilting melody is caressed in gentle harmonies and tasteful part writing. A compelling tribute during times of conflict, this is an appropriate offering at this time.

The sounds of a rainstorm come to life in a musical description that is creative and captivating. Christine Donkin uses nonsense syllables first aleatorically, then into a charming melody that grows with the storm, then subides. Pavane is very proud to release this Winner of the Cincinnati Children's Choir 2011 Composition Competition. Great for children's choirs and treble choirs of all ages!
Composer: Christine Donkin

It was time for a new piece to serve as the concert closer and this is it.
