This could be the most awesome piece of the 21st century. Why? Here's a tune that is energizing and exciting - concert programmable - that teaches singers how to read rhythms. Every high school and college choir will want to have this piece to start their year.

Here is a song that celebrates the joy of childhood - the playfulness, the newness, shrills and laughter. Based on Kankana-ey, a Filipino folk song, the words are also in Filipino as well as non-sensical sounds. The piece begins slowly but quickly accelerates, finally ending in joyful sounds of children's laughter. Medium difficulty, for SSAA children's choirs.

Virtual choirs have sprung up all over the place as choirs find ways to stay connected during this pandemic. High School choral director, Chris Rust, was inspired to write about why we sing and the message has caught on. Choirs cannot wait to be singing next to each other again, and this will be a favorite then as it is for the virtual choir.

Selected for the 2015 Pacific International Children's Choir Festival, this gentle prayer is gracious and moving. Jude Roldan has been composing music for the world-famous children's choir his wife conducts, Hail Mary the Queen Children's Choir for years. While the altos hold on to a pedal tone, the voices above construct heart-warming chords. Along with the sanctus bells and aleatoric chant, this piece is both simple and profound. Great for treble choruses of all ages.
Composer: Jude Roldan
Pin pin de sarapin is a fingerplay song and chant from Capiz. It is a counting-out game where a player touches one finger after another of the other players and bends the finger on which he lands at the end of the chant. The series of action is repeated until only one finger of a player remains unbent. Jude Roldan has transformed this game into a charming song. Great for children's and treble choirs. Medium difficulty.

Sometimes simplicity says it best. The lovely Welsh tune Suo-Gan has been arranged with intelligent reserve by veteran Judy Herrington and new-comer Kyle Haugen. Texts are provided in both English and Welsh with pronunciation guides. An excellent choice for high school choirs.
