The Four Freshmen : Four Freshmen Collection 'Love Lost' is a collective work by Bob Flanigan, Don and Ross Barbour and Ken Albers. 'Oh, Lonely Winter' is from the Four Freshmen and Five Guitars Capitol record album. Lyrics by Bill Comstock and music by Ken Albers. 'This October' is considered one of the greatest of all hits of the Four Freshmen. 'I'll Remember April' was recorded on the Voices in Love albums, this great arrangement by Dick Reynolds is one of the all-time favorites. The cappella arrangement of Indian Summer by Nelson Riddle is stunning. Songlist: Indian Summer, Love Lost, Oh, Lonely Winter, This October, I'll Remember April The Four Seasons : Jersey Boys - Vocal Selections Jersey Boys premiered at the La Jolla Playhouse on October 5, 2004 and ran through January 16, 2005 The musical opened on Broadway on November 6, 2005 at the August Wilson Theatre starring John Lloyd Young as Frankie Valli, Christian Hoff as Tommy DeVito, Daniel Reichard as Bob Gaudio, and J. Robert Spencer as Nick Massi. Directed by Des McAnuff, the then artistic director at La Jolla Playhouse, the musical uses many of the group's hit songs to tell the turbulent story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons' rise to fame. Ben Brantley of The New York Times wrote, "THE CROWD GOES WILD. I'm talking about the real, mostly middle-aged crowd at the August Wilson Theater, who seem to have forgotten what year it is or how old they are or, most important, that John Lloyd Young is not Frankie Valli. And everything that has led up to that curtain call feels, for just a second, as real and vivid as the sting of your hands clapping together."20 vocal selections from the Broadway musical about Rock and Roll Hall of Famers The Four Seasons. This is the story of how a group of blue-collar boys became the biggest American pop sensations of all time, selling over 175 million records worldwide. Songlist: Beggin', Big Girls Don't Cry, Big Man In Town, Bye Bye Baby (Baby Goodbye), Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You, C'mon Marianne, Cry For Me, Dawn (Go Away), December 1963 (Oh, What A Night), Fallen Angel, Let's Hang On, My Boyfriend's Back, My Eyes Adored You, Opus 17 (Don't Worry 'Bout Me), Rag Doll, Sherry, Stay, Walk Like A Man, Who Loves You, Working My Way Back To You Gene Puerling : Puerling Charts I A collection of mostly a cappella arrangements from quite possibly the greatest vocal jazz arranger ever. Songlist: The Fool On The Hill, Here, There And Everywhere, Michelle, We've Only Just Begun, Yesterday, Try to Remember, On a Clear Day, Emily, Where Is Love?, The Sound of the Singers Unlimited Gene Puerling : Puerling Charts II Includes the Grammy Award winner "A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square" as recorded by The Manhattan Transfer. The note-for-note arrangement matches the original recording! Songlist: Deck The Halls, The Gene Puerling Sound, Silent Night, Snowfall, A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, April in Paris, Autumn in New York, Dancing in the Dark, Indian Summer Gene Puerling : The Best Of Gene Puerling There certainly is no more influential and revered a cappella arranger than the brilliant Gene Puerling. From his auspicious beginnings as a founding member of the vocal jazz group the Hi-Lo's, with whom he recorded thirteen albums between the years of 1953-1964, Gene revealed the talent and promise that would later be fully realized with his work as director, arranger and performer with the Singers UnLimited. SATB, accompanied with optional rhythm section Songlist: Button Up Your Overcoat, Georgia On My Mind, Rockin' Chair, The Shadow of Your Smile, Small Fry Jay Althouse : Classic Jazz A Cappella Here's a collection of three song each from three of the greatest songwriters of the classic jazz song - Gershwin, Porter and Ellington. Highly-regarded arranger Jay Althouse offers some stunning, tight, and tasty harmonies for unaccompanied mixed voices that can be performed separately or as three different sets by composer. Songlist: A Cole Porter Jazz Trio, Just One Of Those Things, You Do Something To Me, An Ellington Jazz Trio, Solitude, It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing), A Gershwin Jazz Trio, I Got Rhythm, Someone to Watch Over Me, Night and Day, Satin Doll, Nice Work If You Can Get It Lambert, Hendricks and Ross : Vocal Jazz Arrangements Lambert Hendricks & Ross mastered the art of vocal bebop and the Jon Hendricks classic "Everybody's Boppin'" proves the point with its frantic tempo and the fast swing groove underneath. A vocal jazz tour-de-force! "Birdland" is a quintessential jazz classic with lyrics by the incomparable Jon Hendricks in a funky fusion setting by noted arranger Paris Rutherford. A perfect showcase for vocal jazz groups! Darmon Meader's arrangement of "Charleston Alley" pays tribute to Lambert, Hendricks & Ross, as well as Charlie Barnet, while expanding the voicings, and also placing the song in a much more "SATB-friendly" key. This arrangement is a great introduction to the classic vocalese style of Lambert, Hendricks & Ross, and will work well for most medium to advanced vocal jazz groups. Songlist: Charleston Alley, Birdland, Everybody's Boppin', Desafinado (Slightly Out of Tune) Marion Linton : Cole Porter A Cappella Beginning as a waltz, "I Get A Kick Out Of You," this lively Cole Porter tune goes into 4 at the bridge. Initiated by the bass, this time change provides a good vehicle for practicing four in the space of three and vice versa. The tune is short, punctuated by rhythmic shots and ends with a bang. "Let's Do It" is impossible to sing without a smile. Humor, wit, quotes as well as insect and animal sounds thrive throughout its four verses. It's a challenge but well worth the work--and talk about a crowd please! "Love For Sale" is a challenging setting for Cole Porter's cynical look at love. From a soulful alto solo, we move to an up-tempo Latin groove suggestive of life on the street. Featured again in the bridge is the alto whose message is colored by humorous comments and quotes. Rich harmonies abound and build to a dynamic ending. A vamp is used throughout "What Is This Thing Called Love" as an introduction, interlude, ending and even as accompaniment for a be-bop chorus where high women's voices bemoan the pain of love gone wrong. Soprano, as solo or section, is featured on melody throughout this chart. Songlist: I Get A Kick Out of You, Let's Do It (Let's Fall in Love), Love For Sale, What Is This Thing Called Love? Various Arrangers : Vocal Jazz Classics for Female Voices "Autumn Leaves" - A fresh take on a classic standard with intricate, yet accessible jazz harmonies and effortless voice leading. Kirby has taken one of the most gorgeous ballads of our time and crafted a special arrangement that's bound to please. Songlist: Walk Like a Man, Sherry, Bye Bye Baby (Baby Goodbye), Jersey Boys (Choral Highlights), Let's Hang On Various Arrangers : 60's Girl Groups The poodle skirts and malt shops are long gone, but the golden era of the girl groups lives on in this fab collection of 60's top pop female harmony groups. The iconic 1960s hit "Dancing in the Street" by Martha & the Vandellas is on overdrive! A perfect show choir theme, this arrangement opens with a vocal build punctuated by horn punches and handclaps before exploding into the instantly recognized verse. The party atmosphere continues with a fun vocal stack before closing with the final powerful "call." The 1963 pop hit by the Crystals "Da Doo Ron Ron" is a sweet and sassy salute to the music of an earlier era! SSA groups of all ages will enjoy singing the easy triadic harmonies that define the genre. Songlist: Da Doo Ron Ron, Be My Baby, One Fine Day, Heatwave, Sweet Talkin' Guy - Music Of The Chiffons (Medley), Dancing in the Street Various Arrangers : The Vintage Harmony Girl Groups The 1950's were the golden age for the close harmony girl groups with many of them enjoying top pop hits and regular TV appearances. Many of the female harmony groups of today owe much to these early pioneers and this collection of songs are some of the finest of the era. Includes number one hits from the Andrews Sister, McGuire Sisters and the Chordettes. With piano accompaniment. Songlist: Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Mister Sandman, Lollipop, Sugartime, Sincerely Various Arrangers : Irving Berlin A Cappella Without doubt Irving Berlin was one of America's greatest songwriter and his music will be performed for generations to come. His songs lend themselves well to harmony arrangements and here are some of his greatest songs arranged by some of the best in the business. The impeccable Mattson touch is clearly evident in this warm a cappella setting of "Count Your Blessings Instead Of Sheep". Full harmonies envelop the listener in a rich blanket of sound and the lyrics flow expressively and naturally in a simple but meaningful way. Varied choral textures and luscious harmonies make "How Deep is the Ocean?" an ideal selection for a cappella vocal groups. Ultimately romantic! "They Say It's Wonderful" will work equally well for a large concert group or a smaller ensemble such as a show or jazz choir. Smooth a cappella vocal lines and expressive jazz textures will create a special moment in your concert! Songlist: How Deep is the Ocean?, Count Your Blessings Instead Of Sheep, I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm, What'll I Do?, How Deep is the Ocean?, They Say It's Wonderful Various Arrangers : A Ladies Vintage Christmas They don't write them like they used to! A collection of arrangements of classic Christmas songs originally made famous by some of the great ladies of song. "Santa Baby" - A Christmas list for all the good big girls! This new a cappella arrangement offers beautiful lush harmonies with a female solo feature. Closes with one of Ira's most creative lyrics: "But there's no knot for me." The expressive ballad "When I Fall in Love" has been expertly arranged for a cappella mixed voices. A classic song plus a classic setting equals a memorable performance experience for all. Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's Hawaiian-style "Over the Rainbow" has become a prevalent part of today's popular music. Performed in Glee's first season finale by Matthew Morrison and Mark Salling, the unique setting has been sung by several American Idol contestants and featured in many TV shows and movies. In this creative arrangement, a divisi choir accompanies the soloist, duet, or small group, performing a cappella or with optional piano, ukulele, or guitar. "The More I See You" - Originally released in 1945, this standard continues to touch hearts. Langford's advanced vocal jazz setting, dividing into multiple voice parts, really brings the melody and lyrics to life. Worth the rehearsal time! "Someone to Watch Over Me" - Originally written as an up-tempo number for the musical Oh Kay!, Ira convinced George that it was better as a ballad.
