The original work by Giuseppe Pitoni (1657-1743) was a cappella, but Donald Moore has added a straightforward accompaniment of piano and optional flute or C-instrument. What a great way to introduce your students to music of the Baroque era; the music is Baroque in style but the arrangement is crafted expressly for today's 2 and 3-part choirs. Dynamic changes add interest to the singable melodies and solid harmonies. Perfect for concerts, festivals, and adjudications.

You'll feel the African pulse of this piece from the first measure. "Changamano, join together. Moja, moja, one by one." The text features seven Swahili words or phrases; a pronunciation guide and translations are included in the publication. It's a "music" song, it's a "unite as one" song, but most of all, it's a joy to sing. Includes optional solos and a treble trio descant. Staging Suggestions are featured on Sally's "Showtime!" video, Alfred #21176.

Russell Robinson has carefully edited this 17th Century madrigal for today's 3-part choirs. The key has been lowered a fourth, allowing part I to sing in a comfortable, one-octave (D-D) range. It also provides part III (the changed or changing boys' voices) with a limited 6-note range. Open score means easy reading for young choirs. Includes historical and performance notes. Introduce your middle school or junior high choir to madrigal singing with this well arranged work.

This outstanding work has a multitude of uses: Music in our Schools Month, music advocacy, graduation, concert opener. But you might sing it simply because it's a beautiful "music" song that will touch your singers. It opens with two optional solos ("It starts with just a single voice, one you barely hear."), and develops into a strong statement for music ("When voices come together, the message can be strong."). Perfect for vocal groups of any age, or for combined choral concerts.
Composer: Sally K. Albrecht
A simple four-measure a cappella opening develops slowly and meaningfully into a gorgeous ballad of farewell. "I know you must travel your road as I must travel mine, but may our paths meet again sometime." Of course, it's an obvious choice for graduation, baccalaureate or end-of-year concerts, but we also recommend it as a closer for any concert. It just might become your choir's traditional encore.
