This glorious arrangement of the hymn tune ELLACOMBE is very attainable for most choirs with enough forces to cover the divisi. The addition of brass septet and timpani furnish magnificence and grandeur, making this work perfect for festive occasions.Brass septet and timpani parts are optional.
Composer: Roberto L. Burton
Some spirituals have been arranged so often that one asks, "Can the world possibly need another?" Check out this score for solo and SSAATTBB voices and you'll undoubtedly echo our resounding yes! Another great one for high school or college choruses.

Glenn Burleigh offers this majestic SATB divisi setting for Christ the King. Based on scripture from Revelation the piece begins with an impassioned proclamation, "And the government shall be upon his shoulders and his name shall be called Jesus." It then steadily builds throughout, leading to an exciting and dramatic conclusion.

An awesome arrangement of a Negro spiritual by one of the late great African American women writers and conductors. Various soloists within the choir intersperse brief calls-e.g., "Here the trumpet blow" in dialog with the full choir, which occasionally breaks into eight parts. Pure excitement.Ê
Arranger: Undine Smith Moore
Either of these pieces would be a great introduction to a slightly chromatic style of choral writing-enough of a challenge to be interesting, but not so difficult as to leave the choir disillusioned! Outside of a couple places, the range for all voices is well within a comfortable span.
Composer: Zachary W. Lavender
A Negro spiritual richly scored for unaccompanied SSAATTB voices. Not at all complex, just very full sounding if you've got the voices. A comforting text that promises that, with Jesus as our leader, we shall walk through the valley of life in peace.
