Based on Matthew 6:31-33 this a cappella anthem begins quietly but moves with deliberate pace toward a dramatic key change and joy-filled climax. The tessituras are comfortable for all voice parts in the beginning of the piece, but post key change they become more challenging for the first tenors and first sopranos, who have several passages that are at the top of their range.
Composer: Marques L. A. Garrett
This traditional spiritual begins in a straightforward 4/4 feel, becomes cheerfully syncopated at the refrain, and breaks into a vocal revival meeting for the final thrice-repeated refrain. A good a cappella sound. This octavo was conceived as part of a group titled, "Three Old Souther Negro Church Songs." The other two arrangements, "Lord, I Don' Don'" and "Thank You, Jesus" are available separately.
Arranger: J. Weldon Norris
