"Still, still, still" is an Austrian Christmas carol and lullaby. The melody is a folk tune from the district of Salzburg. The tune appeared for the first time in 1865 in a folksong collection of Vinzenz Maria Süß [de] (1802–1868), founder of the Salzburg Museum. The words describe the peace of the infant Jesus and his mother as the baby is sung to sleep. They have changed slightly over the years but the modern Standard German version remains attributed to Georg Götsch [de] (1895–1956). There are various English translations.
We love this time of the year! But we have to admit that the Christmas season is an incredibly busy time of the year. We hope you're all able to set some time aside this season to relax and soak up some “still.” As always, this song is 100% a cappella. Merry Christmas!
Love,
Eclipse 6

Here we have a sumptuous, rich collection of 22 Christmas songs that show off CL's range, talent and feeling. From the Gregorian chants "Hodie Christus Natus Est," "Veni, Veni Emanuel," "Lux Aeterna," and "Alma Redemptoris Mater," the English carol "God Rest You Merry Gentlemen," and the Canadian "Huron Carol," to Diane Loomer's title tune, the Sarum chant "Veni Redemtor Gencium: and the Austrian carol "Still, Still, Still," this is great stuff. There is some light accompaniment such as organ on a few cuts, but basically this is just a great male chorus showing off its chops on Christmas music ranging from the traditional and well-known to unknown and eclectic. Highly recommended. Traditional favourites such as ", "In the bleak midwinter," and the beautiful Austrian carol "Still, Still, Still," jockey for position amongst modern-day classics like "Winter Wonderland," "Frosty the Snowman" and "Sleigh Ride." All are presented in new arrangements by some of the group's favourite arrangers: Berty Rice, Keith Roberts and Alexander L'Estrange. Songlist: Santa Claus is Coming to Town (Arr. Alexander L'Estrange), It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, Still, Still, Still, Carol of the Bells, It Came Upon the Midnight Clear, Frosty vs Rudolph, the Re-Boot, White Christmas, Ding Dong! Merrily on High, The First Nowell, Sleigh Ride, The Little Boy That Santa Claus Forgot, Silent Night, Winter Wonderland, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, We Wish You a Merry Christmas Libera : The Christmas Album Libera is as close as a boyschoir could ever be to be called a pop sensation but in a way that's exactly what this group is. With millions of CDs sold and touring world wide this ensemble has taken choral music to whole new audiences to great success. The singers of Libera who are aged seven to sixteen attend many different local schools in South London and come from a variety of backgrounds. Although they are boys and they sing, they do not think of themselves as choirboys, but rather as an alternative kind of boy band. This Christmas release, their first holiday album, is superb and you will listen to this recording season after season. Songlist: Joy to the World, Still, still, still, Carol of the Bells, Veni, Veni Emmanuel, Once in Royal David's City, O Holy Night, White Christmas, Corpus Christi Carol, In Dulci Jubilo, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, Sing the Story, Coventry Carol, The First Nowell, Jubilate Deo, While Shepherds watched their Flocks, Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel) Michigan State Children's Choir : A Classic Christmas The MSU Children's Choir program began in 1993 with the founding of the MSU Community Music School. The program now has 145 singers representing 23 different school districts and communities. The Choir has been honored to perform at the 2002 6th World Symposium on Choral Music as the representative of the US, and at numerous conventions of the ACDA. Mary Alice Stollak directs the talented Choir in 12 exquisite (mostly organ accompanied) Christmas carols and a pair of sacred pieces, Bach's sublime "Ave Maria" and "Alleluia." There's some rarely heard French carols, "Manger Carol" and "Oh, Leave Your Sheep," English and Irish traditional carols, "Wexford Carol" and "Sussex Carol," and traditional German, "Still, Still, Still;" in additional to "Joy to the World," "Silent Night" and others. The Choir has a sweet, bright sound that makes "A Classic Christmas" a very special album. Songlist: Joy To The World, Manger Carol, Ave Maria, Wexford Carol, Oh, Leave Your Sheep, Silent Night, Ding Dong! Merrily On High, Alleluia, Sussex Carol, Angels We Have Heard On High, Still, Still, Still, O Come, All Ye Faithful The Norman Luboff Choir : Songs Of The World Vol 1& 2 The Norman Luboff choir is one of the great choral folk/pop groups of all time, and "Songs" is one of those great 2-LPs on one CD compilations that give you so much great music for your money. First released in 1959, these 24 (all but one song accompanied) songs embrace the music of many countries, most of which are fresh to our ears today, but nonetheless smooth, rich and beautiful. The one a cappella tune, "Dear Fatherland, Farewell," is a nostalgic winner with bass harmonies to die for. Soloists William Reeve, Betty Mulliner and William Lee amaze us and break our hearts. Some of our favorites: "Lift a Glass to Friendship" from Poland, "Pepita" from Portugal, "Bamboo Flute" from China, "Cockles and Mussels" from Ireland, "The Lonely Birch Tree" from Russia, "Valencianita" from Venezuela - all are wonderful and touching. Highly recommended! All of the songs are performed in the a cappella tradition. Caroling, directed by Captain Chad A. Steffey, is dedicated to all of the men and women of the United States Air Force who are away from home during the holiday season. Here is the treasured Austrian folk carol in a warm and lyrical setting for men's voices. Excellent for TTB ensembles from middle school and beyond. Performance Time: Approx. 3:10.
Arranger: Audrey Snyder | Country: Austria
Having seen, and even published, several settings of this Austrian carol, we must say that this setting is especially appealing with its continual 4-part choral texture, moving eighths, lullabylike accompaniment, and a simplicity that assures most choirs of the ability to master it with minimal rehearsal time.Keyboard or String QuartetThe keyboard part may be omitted if the strings are present. This is a nice and not too difficult SATB arrangement of an Austrian carol which may be accompanied by a keyboard or a string quartet
Arranger: Brent McWilliams
This arrangement of Still, Still, Still utilizes the warmth of an English Horn, or Oboe solo to gently bring life to this beloved Austrian Carol about the Holy Babe asleep during a quiet, chilly night. The unison chorus later enters with Corde Natus Ex Parentis (Of the Father's Love Begotten), the plainsong by Aurelius Clemens Prudentius (348-413) about Jesus' eternal reign. Because the chorus sings plainchant, it may equally be effective performed by adults or children.
Duration 3:20
Composer: Paul Stuart
A lovely arrangement of the beloved tune, with new words from Rory Cooney. The text does not ignore the reality into which Christ was born; nevertheless, it manages to offer hope to us as children of God. If your resources allow, you might opt for the available string quartet parts in place of the keyboard accompaniment-or perhaps your group has the skill to sing unaccompanied, as on the demonstration recording.String quartet or keyboard accompaniment.

Victor Johnson lends his artful pen to the beloved Austrian carol, which proves a fitting vehicle for his sensitive signature style. Long melodic lines, generous harmonic suspensions, an intricate piano accompaniment, and a luminous cello obbligato combine to make a special moment for holiday programs. SSA and SATB singers will sound their best on this terrific treatment that is a joy to sing and a pleasure to hear.

This festive arrangement of a traditional German carol features an English text, translated and adapted by John Rutter himself. The first two verses are sung by soloists (or alternatively by a semi-chorus over a background of choral hums) before all singers come together in the final verse and then fade into solemn stillness.
Arranger: John Rutter
A lyrical countermelody weds the timeless Isaiah text to this most tender of Austrian carols to produce an exquisite musical treasure. Available: SATB. Performance Time: Approx. 3:10.
