Commissioned by Chicago's Old Saint Patrick's Church for Easter 2012, "Acts of God" joyfully uplifts the Scripture-based text to a cohesive, substantial piece for your choir and pianist. Perfect for Easter Sunday, this piece can be performed at any joyous occasion or special celebration.
In Rory's words: "The 'conceit' of this lyric is that the stranger met is God encountered.... the one who is the 'outsider' to us has something to teach us about love, about self-abandonment, about who God is." The assembly will be able to join in after the melody is introduced by a soloist and/or the choir on the first two or three stanzas.String quartet part is optional.
Here's a wonderful incarnation of the Gloria! The refrain is relatively standard, based on the refrain from "Angels We Have Heard on High," so the assembly will have no problem singing along. But the first part of the Gloria text is wonderfully set to a chant tone for SAB voices. Finally, the last portion of the text ("For you alone are the Holy One...") is sung as a descant over the Gloria refrain!
Set a cheerful tone for your Christmas celebrations with this lilting SAB arrangement of a delightful French carol. The baritone section alone states the melody in the first verse. The altos begin the second but are quickly joined by the baritones in a canonical treatment. The sopranos soon enter on the refrain building the intensity.Ê Verse three begins with all parts in unison but divides into a final crescendo, which heralds the awesome news of a newborn king.
The easy gospel swing of this original piece by Rory Cooney is infectious and will add a cheerful tone to your worship. The versatile text makes it practical for use as a song for gathering, meditation, or sending forth. Intuitive three-part writing will require nominal rehearsal but will deliver a rewarding result.
Syncopated rhythms in the accompaniment infuse a joyful spirit, while the guitar, flute, and violin parts (available separately) bring a friendly, folksy feel to this new adaptation of the beloved 1 Corinthians 13 text. A lively, up-tempo setting that is perfect for weddings. For cantor or soloist.
This highly original setting of Psalm 23 utilizes the Gelineau verses uniquely arranged for two voices. The refrain is from John 21:15, "Feed my lambs."For cantor or soloist
This traditional spiritual is given a swung, bluesy treatment that only Rory Cooney could provide! He has also supplied additional text, expounding on the need to keep hopeful in adversity. Keep your eyes on the prize!
The String Quartet and Optional Brass Quartet parts are optional.Horn in F can be substituted for Trombone I.For cantor or soloist.

A tender lullaby to the baby Jesus, the steadily moving waltz tempo and memorable tune make this piece equally effective whether sung in procession or as a quiet meditation. The variety of instrumental options furnishes flexibility and adds charm to this simple Polish carol. A pronunciation key for the Polish verse is included.
Using the American tune shenandoah with a text based on Revelation 21 and 22, this setting is constructed in call-and-response form with unique first and third phrases in each verse for choir and a fixed response for assembly on phrases two and four of each verse. Refreshingly instant music for the assembly, especially useful for the last Sundays of the year.
Throughout his career, an original text and tune from Rory Cooney has meant the of thought-provoking words with the ideal musical setting for those words. This piece is no exception! The gentle melody allows the words to be expressed with clarity and truth to those who hear them.
Set for cantor, assembly, and 2-part choir, this psalm for Mass at Midnight sparkles with a bell-like quality. The lovely flute obbligato can be underscored by optional string quartet. The composer cleverly yokes this lilting, singable refrain with Psalm 118 for the Easter responsorial psalm published separately(G-6543)
A choral setting of this popular African American spiritual, arranged with a 12/8 swing and jazz-like violin part. The verses are in the traditional call and response of solo and choir, with the refrains and coda entirely choral.
This exciting arrangement of Psalm 104 comes from one of the leading composers of liturgical music - Rory Cooney. Without fail, "Send Out, Send Out Your Spirit" brings the excitement of the psalm text into the music, with an underlying syncopation that will energize your musicians.
While the tune is based on a traditional Czech carol, this is one of Rory Cooney's most powerful original texts. The piece would make a stunning Communion meditation, evoking images of joy at the infant Savior's birth, while foreshadowing his sacrifice so that we might eat of the Living Bread. The piano provides support for the choral parts, but the piece may be sung a cappella; or, if circumstances allow, the use of the optional string quartet will add to the warmth expressed in the words and harmony of the singers.String Quartet or Keyboard accompaniment
A lovely arrangement of the beloved tune, with new words from Rory Cooney. The text does not ignore the reality into which Christ was born; nevertheless, it manages to offer hope to us as children of God. If your resources allow, you might opt for the available string quartet parts in place of the keyboard accompaniment-or perhaps your group has the skill to sing unaccompanied, as on the demonstration recording.String quartet or keyboard accompaniment.
The carefully constructed text is primarily a meditation on Psalm 72, its imagery surrounding the enthronement of the king of Israel applied to the leadership of church and state in our time. It is a song for use throughout Advent to Epiphany. Its theme is a longing for peace and justice.
Written as a commission for his own choir, "To You Who Bow" is a simple song of praise to God who humbled himself for our sake. The emotional text of this tender hymn depicts a loving image of our God "who dreamed the boundaries of Orion, but will not break the reed"-at once powerful but also gentle, loving, and merciful. The fluid rhythmic motion and graceful melody creates a natural rise and fall that builds the piece effortlessly to its moving final verse. The SAB choral writing along with parts for flute, trumpet, and cello add richness but do not detract from the poignant text. "To You Who Bow" is sure to become a congregation favorite.Download a reprint box for your congregation from OneLicense.net
Another fine arrangement of this English carol standard. Imaginatively scored for SAB voices with string quartet and flute, the piano can cover the string part in their absence. This is not just for choirs without tenors. The men's part-which carries the tune much of the time-fits well into the range of both tenors and basses providing high musical satisfaction for even the larger choir.String quartet or keyboard.Ê
The closing text, "Turn around and believe in the gospel," will strike a memorable chord in your congregation when this joyous piece is introduced to them. Flexible instrumentation options, including a part for flute or piccolo, help enliven the already bright and rhythmic feel of this piece. Let your choir announce the good news to your congregation and, in turn, your congregation announce it to the world!Flute or Piccolo
For cantor or soloist. The percussion part is for tambourine and drum set.
