Review: Canticles in Candlelight is a musical service of illumination that gradually fills the sanctuary or concert hall with music and light. With Scripture, narration, carols and candles, this compelling cantata tells the treasured story of Christ's birth. Filled with variety yet rooted in a traditional music vernacular, there are tasteful classical references in the arrangements as well as opportunities for congregational singing. From the hushed whisper of the Candlelight Processional to the festive arrangements of some of our most beloved carols, this work has something for everyone. An optional quiet ending is offered for churches wanting a more devotional closing. Includes: Prologue; Processional; Prepare and Celebrate; Advent Longing; Come, Long-Expected Jesus; Awake! Arise! Rejoice!; Carols of Joy and Hope; Joy to the World; A Christmas Madrigal; Turn Your Heart to Christmas; A Festive Christmas Flourish; Silent Night, Holy Night. Review: Written as a prequel to Pepper Choplin's best-selling Easter work, Once Upon a Tree, this new cantata follows closely the first two chapters of Luke. As the narrator, Luke leads worshippers through the story as he writes and reflects on the power and significance of the events. From the struggle and unbelief of Zechariah to the innocent faith of Mary, from the exuberance of the shepherds to the quiet joy of Simeon, Luke reveals the real human emotions of the story. Listeners are able to identify with the characters and experience the Christmas event in a deeply personal way. The music is dramatic and is enriched with the masterful orchestrations of Brant Adams. Whether performed simply with Luke as the narrator, or with additional characters and full staging, Once Upon a Night promises a profoundly moving Christmas memory for all.
Review: Written to commemorate the Passion of Christ, this cantata is a moving tribute to His life and ministry. Composed for maximum flexibility and scored for SA(T)B voices, the optional cued notes make it possible for the cantata to grow with your choir. Smaller choirs will enjoy the rich textures and larger ensembles will be able to engage their full resources. For churches that desire an instrumental component, a very modest consort instrumentation creates a reverent accompaniment. The narration contains scriptures and prayers to convey the graceful theme of Christ's sacrificial love. Ending with the crucifixion, A Gathering of Grace will set the stage for Easter morning.

Review: Inspired by the spiritual Were You There, this musical experience is based on several monologues by those who were at the cross. The work leads us through many emotions: from the Holy Love shown to Mary Magdalene, to the intimacy of Mother Mary's Still My Son, to the regret of Peter in It Should Have Been Me. The musical can be of almost any length since each momologue and anthem may be used independently. However We Were There is used, it will provide a powerful Holy Week resource for years to come. Maximum length if all pieces are used: 53 minutes.
