A setting of a Sara Teasdale poem that is an ode to beauty. A performance piece for SATB (with some divisi), piano, and cello; duration ca. 6:00. Though it requires substantial vocal forces, it is a "big" work that is not overly difficult, staying within the established tonality and remaining mostly homophonic.
Composer: Blake R. Henson
This timeless Byrd motet removes the modern barlines that obscure the natural stress of the text. Extensive notes and a word-for-word translation are provided. A great tool for teaching Renaissance style, as well as simply being a piece every choir should know!Ê
Composer: William Byrd
A serious choral work for women's chorus, dedicated to the children of the victims of 9/11. After the second stanza, a chorale-like Kyrie eleison section is introduced and is then juxtaposed with the tune on stanza 3, sung by the mezzo-soprano soloist. The work continues to develop in skillful ways that crescendo through ff alleluias, eventually diminishing to a pp "Was lost, but now I'm found." Serious concert material.
Arranger: Roger Ames
This plea for Christ to come into our lives moves along with a fair amount of unison singing that nonetheless requires careful attention to phrasing and nuance. It expands into two parts in octaves (ST/AB), building into an SATB f then ff, finally tapering off into a four-part canon that fades into a ppp ending. A fairly easy piece that requires a disciplined choir.
Composer: Roger Ames
From the Evoking Sound Choral Series this solfege edition of "The Virgin's Cradle Hymn," a translation from the obscure Latin by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, is among GIA catalog's most unique: "Sleep, sweet babe! My cares beguiling....Come, soft slumber, balmily!"The extensive notes are invaluable to performance practice and interpretation, and the treatise on the solfege analysis of the Phrygian and Lydian modes is a good education in itself!Effective preparation and teaching will make this piece both fascinating and fulfilling for singers.

"Elegy," by Gerald Custer, is a setting of three texts associated with Robert Kennedy during his lifetime. This glorious work for SATB divisi and piano captures Kennedy's idealism and his faith in the inherent good of all people. It is a fitting song of lament and tribute, filled with the hope of a man whose dreams continue to inspire.
Composer: Gerald Custer
Listen"Brandon Waddles opens his moving arrangement of Fix Me Jesus with an extended, eight-part chromatic choral tapestry, weaving voices together into what he instructs should be a warm, seamless whole. The introduction gives way to the chorus of the piece, first introduced by a simple soprano solo that floats over the vocal 'oohs' like prayer.ÊÊ... The final return of the chorus is peaceful, cathartic, and profound."Choral Journal, May 2019, Volume 59, Number 10
Arranger: Brandon Waddles
On a text by Opus Dei founder St. Josemaria Escriva, "Do everything for love," the composition is a musical homage to Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms. For accompanied SATB voices, it demands that the choir be able to navigate the Stravinsky-esque harmonic vocabulary. Ê
Composer: Ronald A. Hemmel
A new edition of a famous Thomas Morley madrigal that attempts to be highly faithful to 16th- century performance practice. Serious repertoire in a serious edition for high school and college choirs.

This a cappella jazz arrangement of the English carol features tight harmonies and strong rhythmic drive. Although this piece may pose a challenge for less experienced choirs, the musical rewards will be well worth the effort. Great for a holiday concert or service of carols.

An art song on a poem by Emily Dickenson. The mind, eager to get past the sting of lost love, begs the heart to hurry along the grieving process. Both the vocal lines and accompaniment offer significant challenges for the skilled women's chorus.
