Here is one of the most famous boleros and most sung Mexican song in the world now set in a concert choral arrangement. This arrangement is a regular part of the King's Singers repertoire as well as vocal Essence and the Mexican choir Vox Populi Project. This music is hip and contemporary while staying true to its stylistic heritage.
Arranger: Julio Morales | Composer: Consuelo Velazquez
Here is a traditional Lakota lullaby that was often sung by mothers towards their young boys. The Lakota language has become nearly extinct but composer/arranger Linthicum-Blackhorse has made it his life's work to bring the language back to life. In this arrangement, the IPA pronunciation guide is included in the body of the music in order to make it accessible to all singers and choirs.
Composer: Linthicum-Blackhorse
Here is a setting of 4 spirituals (Do Lord; Walk Together Children; A City Called Heaven; & Ol' Time Religion) arranged for SATB choir, solos, Brass quintet and timpani. Performed at the 2023 ACDA mixed honors choir under the direction of Eugene Rogers, this is a true concert closer.
Arranger: Stacey V. Gibbs
Capturing the importance of the Greenfield poem and the dramatic story of Harriet Tubman's life, Rollo Dilworth has crafted a powerful new spiritual. Tubman was often referred to as a conductor of the Underground Railroad and as the Moses of her people. In recognition of these titles, musical themes from the spirituals If I Got My Ticket and Go Down, Moses have been incorporated into the score.

Combining two spirituals with original music and emplying two soloists, this arrangement from first time contributor Carlos Simon is amazing. Series editor Eugene Rogers wrote and said get this piece in print so I can begin programming it! High praise indeed.
Composer: Carlos Simon
The poet writes that The loving heart begs his lover not to let his kisses die. If his kisses die, then too does their love. This same passion is captured in the four verses of music as the melody passes among voices. Wide dynamic ranges are required from the singers and awareness of where the melody is within the ensemble is critical.
Composer: Julio Pineda
This is a rhythmic, contemporary, gospel-style anthem with words that challenge all of us to take responsibility for making our communities safe, supportive, and just.

Using excerpts from Virginia Woolf's suicide letter to her husband, this is a powerful and moving work. Winner of the prestigious University of Michigan Brehm Choral Composition Competition this 7-minute work exhibits how empathy through art can be a strong mechanism to develop our understanding of one another.
Composer: Carolina Heredia
Volta is written with an attempt to answer the question of why love, or beauty, requires nothing of us in order to spark, and yet we will give everything to protect it. When love stirs, it asks for nothing but a world made safe for truth, for beauty, for the tense blooming. This is program music which is asking for our full range of musicianship and emotion.

Premiered at the National ACDA Conference in Kansas City by Carrie Tennant and the Vancouver Youth Choir in 2019. This piece combines the different aesthetics of drought politics, dance hall dub and youthful drive to create something that is at once as ordered as it is chaotic.
Arranger: Kristopher Fulton | Composer: Nathaniel Brenner | Performed By: Tune Yards
Now available for SATB. Here is a three movement suite intended to elevate conversations regarding mental health. Commissioned by the University of Michigan Men's Glee Club, Mark Stover, conductor, Broadway composer Aron Accurso brings his sense of the dramatic to this powerful score for men's voices.

Here is the stand alone third movement from the powerful Suite You Are Enough. One of five U.S. adults experience mental illness, and we all have negative thoughts that creep into our consciousness from time to time. Sometimes those thoughts overwhelm us like a storm. We hope this music makes conversations about mental health occur more easily.
