Written as a fanfare-like concert opener, bells announce the choir in the age-old tradition of church bells, but with the added possibilities of handmade or found-object bells, as people gather in a spirit of festive celebration, worship and art. The choir can use triangles of varying sizes, bells, or anything which strikes metal-on-metal, the number and variety are limited only by imagination and balance.

This English sea shanty, already a success in SATB and 3-Part Mixed voicings, is now available for men's chorus, just the way it would have been heard originally when sung by sailors as they pulled long heavy ropes on early Navy vessels

Ka Hia Manu (Little Birds) pulls together chants and texts from various Polynesian and Micronesian islands. A metallic, brassy edge to the sound sets this Stephen Hatfield original apart from much of the standard choral repertoire. Think of the spontaneity of kids singing on a bus. Think of hand-woven fabric rather than cashmere. Duration: ca. 6:45.

Son de Camaguey is a Cuban folk song from which the composer takes the refrain and then frames it with kaleidoscopic patterns of ostinati inspired by the song, and by Afro-Cuban music in general. Already one of the most exciting renditions from Stephen Hatfield as an SATB piece, it is now available for men's and women's choirs. Duration: ca. 3:00.

Originally composed for a festival in Newfoundland, this song is based on an old English folk song. It should be sung with a storyteller's sense of delight in his own story; part wide-eyed wonder, part knowing smile.

This traditional nineteenth-century folksong comes from County Cork, Ireland and is based on a Welsh sea shanty, The Lass of Swansea Town. Written for and dedicated to Diane Loomer, founding director of the male chorus, Chor Leoni, this is a reflective arrangement of what is often a boisterous tavern song, capturing the sad sentiment of the lyrics.
