A graduate of the Julliard School of Music and Teachers College, Columbia University, Walter Ehret served as an adjunct faculty member of Hofstra University, Manhattanville College, and Teachers College of Columbia University. During the past forty years he taught instrumental and choral music in several New Jersey and New York school systems and retired after serving as District Coordinator of Music for the Scarsdale, New York public school system. Choral groups under his direction have performed at Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, state music association conventions, divisional meetings of MENC and the first American Choral Directors Association National Conference. |

This chorus from Handel's Occasional Oratorio has been a favorite for many years.This arrangement retains the essence of the SATB version while reducing it to two parts, parts which may be sung by many different combinations of voices.Performance suggestions included.

From Haydn's Harmoniemesse comes this new arrangement of the Dona Nobis Pacem. Published with both Latin and English words, this is an excellent piece for the concert or church.

Corelli composed some of the most beautiful music of the Baroque era. Veteran arranger, Walter Ehret has adapted one of those melodies to a text from Psalm 71 in a style befitting the times. The result is an excellent new work for church or school.

This popular Czech carol is scored for any combination of two voices. The second part is canonic in stanzas 1 and 2, and is sung in augmentation against stanza 3. A very quick learn yielding delightful results. Perfect for the ad hoc Christmas choir.

This short, jaunty piece for Christmas is suitable for children. The narrative text follows a group of drowsy shepherd boys on their joyful journey to see the Christ child.

Beginning with a trumpet-like fanfare, the joyful chorus of this anthem from the oratorio Saul enters in antiphonal statements. The closing hosannas propel the tempo with an upward cascading counterpoint, climaxing in a typically rewarding Handelian ending.

The Chandos Anthems were composed by Handel while serving as court musician for the English Duke of Chandos. Master editor, Walter Ehret, has taken the fairly extended eighth chorus and created a version that will work well for church or school. The lively spirit and crisp construction for which Handel is famous rings true with this fine edition. Notes and sources are provided.
