The seed of the composition was 'It was a lover and his lass,' witten in 1975. This book contains: It Was a Lover and His Lass; You Spotted Snakes; Sigh No More, Ladies; O Mistress Mine. This book is an award winning collection. Songlist: It Was A Lover And His Lass, Sigh No More, O Mistress Mine, Op. 6, No. 2 Nancy Wertsch : Shakespeare Suite The music here is meant to evoke the amorous thoughts and feelings of young lovers in Shakespeare's England. "It Was A Lover and His Lass" is a musical picture of a pair of happy young lovers meandering through the lush green countryside and enjoying the warmth of a spring day. It is obvious that these tow are a part of the total flowering spring. "Oh Mistress Mine" is a tender appeal by the young lover imploring his beloved to roaming and come to him. He employs various arguments to convince her that love should happen now and not later. His ardent desire is reflected in the music. However, at the end of the piece his love remains unrequited. In "Daffodils" there is so much youthful energy that it almost gets out of control. The key here is "tumbling." The whole piece goes in spurts and stops, with duddilly dum dum's and oo's containing little naughty thoughts here and there which can't say in words. All the chaos seems to come under control for awhile until the pent up energy bursts forth in "tumbling, tumbling, tumbling" and gleefully ends "as we go tumbling in the hay." Songlist: It Was A Lover and His Lass, Oh Mistress Mine, Daffodils Various Arrangers : Encores For Choirs 2 SATB choirs are always looking for top quality show stopping concert pieces guaranteed to bring the house down with shouts of 'Encore!' Songlist: A Modern Major-General, Auld Lang Syne, Bring us in good ale, Buffalo Gals, Calme des nuits, Chick, chick, chicken!, Counting Up My Toes, Country Gardens, Dashing Away With The Smoothing Iron, Deconstructing Johann, Dry Bones, El Hambo, Ev'ry Time I Feel the Spirit, Good Hope, Ill WInd, It was a lover and his lass, Jargon, Mission: Impossible, Nachtlied, Orpheus in the Underground, Parting Friends, Shenandoah, Stranger in Paradise, Take it from Figure 'O', The Long Day Closes, The tide rises, the tide falls, Three-minute Messiah, 'Un'-Popular Song, Vocalise, Wiegenlied, and more Various Composers : Madrigals for Treble Voices This collection attempts to provide repertoire for treble-voice groups who desire to sing madrigals. Although a great wealth of madrigal literature exists for mixed voices, some attention has therefore been given to the text of each selection in order to make it more appropriate for feminine choruses. Songlist: It Was a Lover and His Lass, Let All Who Sing Be Merry, Maidens Fair of Mantua's City, The Messenger of Love, Now Is the Month of Maying, The Silver Swan Ward Swingle : Swingle Originals 'How Do I Love Thee' is a a traditional choral setting of Elizabeth Barrett Browning's wonderful poem. 'Tre Karleksdikter' means 'Three love-poems.' These are settings of well-known Swedish poets, and would present a good challenge for a choir wanting to explore the Swedish language. 'It Was A Lover And His Lass' is a setting of Shakepeare's famous sonnet. The text has a lot of scat-like syllables (e.g. "hey-ding-a-ding") which Ward Swingle was able to adapt and use as part of the guitar-like accompaniment. Songlist: It was a lover and his lass, How do I love thee?, Tre Karleksdikter Ward Swingle : A Cappella Jazz for SSAA Here's a collection of arrangements by Ward for unaccompanied women's voices. This arrangement of the old Irving Berlin standard "I Got Rhythm" evokes a Dixieland combo while Ellington's "Don't Get Around Much Anymore" swings with a fun opportunity for some voices to scat. "It Was a Lover and His Lass" also has a lot of scat-like syllables (e.g. "hey-ding-a-ding") while "Reeds of Innocence" has a strong rhythmic element in the writing, with vocal imitations of flute sounds. It goes along at rather a moderate pace and is not difficult to sing. This is a fun collection for singers and for audiences alike. Songlist: Don't Get Around Much Anymore, I Got Rhythm, It Was a Lover and His Lass, Reeds of Innocence Gerald Finzi : Collected Songs For the first time, the lovely songs of British composer Gerald Finzi (1901-1956) are collected together in one volume, in two keys. The final touch of sparkle is added by Proms favorite Wayne Marshall's piano, with Malcolm Creese on bass. Co-founded in 1996 by the late Dr. Jane Hardester and Diane Simons, the choir produced their first CD, "In the Beginning - 1998 to 2005", featuring the Bel Canto singers, known for their impeccable intonation, blend, and expressiveness. The title song "In the Beginning" by Imant Raminsh shows off the choir in its early years, and the 2005 premier performance of "Platanos" by Edward Cansino demonstrates their later maturity as singers.
