The text of "Wind Song" is derived from the names for different types and characters of winds found all over the globe. Each wind is presented in its own language, and the mood of each is reflected in the music. Written to excite and intrigue, the creative and improvisatory work for women's choir "'s No Wonder" highlights the double meaning of the title. It's no wonder that winter itself creates snow wonder. The musical structure of "How Can I Keep From Singing?" is similar to the well known American folk hymn, Amazing Grace. A verse of Amazing Grace is included in the last section of this arrangement. "Songs From Gahu is a recreational piece of the Ewe (eh-weh), who live in Ghana and Togo, West Africa. Gahu" is a rich texture of singing, dancing, drumming, drama and the visual impact of colorful costumes. It originated in Nigeria and was brought to Ghana in the 1950's by Ewes who had travelled there, "Gahu" means "expensive dance" and refers to the elaborate nature of the costumes. These four songs (among many others) accompany the dancing and drumming of Gahu.

The newest release from The American Boychoir, directed by Fernando Malvar-Ruiz, is a wonderfully eclectic collection that reflects the faith that has been expressed consistently across different backgrounds, religions and races since the founding of this country. Founded in 2004 by Dr. Dawn Willis, Bella Voce consists of 40 to 45 auditioned singers, performing existing and newly-commissioned sacred and secular works for women's voices. The ensemble is drawn from four counties throughout Vermont, many of whom also sing in a variety of school, church and community choruses across the region. One of the highlights of the last few years for Bella Voce has included several collaborations with Gwyneth Walker. The members have enjoyed working closely with this gifted composer, whose catalog includes over 170 commissioned works, reflecting both serious and light-hearted musical styles. These 17 works are surprising, refreshing, witty, innovative and inspiring. Some favorites are "Women Should be Pedestals," the dramatic "How Can I Keep From Singing," "Gifts From The Sea," the delicate "Mornings Innocent," the a cappella tune "The Name is Changeless," the joyous "Love Is A Rain of Diamonds," the love song "I Will Be Earth," the lovely a cappella song "So Many Angels," "Walk That Valley," "Never Sit Down," the traditional songs "Crossing the Bar," "Peace I Ask of Thee, O River" and the title tune. The St. Olaf College Viking Chorus is a group of 60 first-year college men who have been organized to sing high quality music written for men's voices. They perform a program that includes motets, cantata movements, as well as contemporary choral pieces, spirituals, folk songs and the like. Included are 24 songs, from the title tune, Richard Farrant's "Hide Not Thou Thy Face," and Vivaldi's "Crucifixus," to Michael Cox' beautiful "O Holy Child," the folk songs "Down By The Sally Gardens" and " The Miller of Dee," closing with the lovely spirituals "Steal Away" and "Somebody's Calling My Name."
