"'A House of Prayer' is a meditation on the diverse images of church found in the Hebrew Bible (especially Isaiah 56:7), the New Testament (especially 1 Peter 2:5), and contemporary theological reflection (especially recent words of Pope Francis). It is well suited for use at the dedication of a new church, the anniversary of a church, or whenever images of church emerge in the Lectionary." -Tony Alonso
Settings of the Gloria incorporating the refrain of "Angels We Have Heard on High" are a wonderful way to encourage and inspire the sung prayer of diverse assemblies throughout the Christmas season. Alonso has adapted the verse tune and, inspired by the invigorating piano accompaniment of Cotter's arrangement of the hymn, he has expanded the composition further, specifically for ensembles in which piano or guitar is the primary accompanying instrument. Includes an alternate accompaniment, which may be more appropriate in certain instances.
Taken from the collection Encounter: From the Heart of Pope Francis, G-9616, the stunning text for this beloved tune is matched only by the outstanding arrangement. This surprisingly simple piece will easily find the perfect home in your choir for the Christmas season.ÊLearn a little more about this piece in this short interview with Tony Alonso.Listen to the recording and preview the score to A Weary Couple in thisÊscore video.

A chorale-like 3-stanza hymn in simple triple meter that has the unique feature of presenting the choice of totally different piano and organ accompaniments. The former yields a more contemporary feel, while the latter results in a classic hymn version. A trumpet part is published separately.
While actually a solo with choir or small ensemble, this lovely and lyrical song of healing and hope proclaims the recurring and comforting phrase "don't be afraid"-words we all need to sing and hear these days! Try this piece using a male and female soloist for increased variety. For cantor or soloist.
Arranger: Chris de Silva
"Don't be afraid" assures this comforting text written for those in suffering. The gentle folklike tune is scored for any combination of two voices with an accompaniment that consistently anticipates the third beat of the bar. The cello part could be played on another instrument capable of producing a legato line in a tenor register.
Tony Alonso has fashioned a pairing of text and music that will become a regular part of your Communion ritual. The 2-part writing is ideal for small choirs. Parts for flute and oboe are included in the octavo.Ê
'''Be My Hands and Feet' is a response to the words and deeds of the Risen Christ, connecting language of the resurrection with the demands of discipleship. It would be appropriate throughout the Easter season. . . . It would also be appropriate whenever images of mission, ministry and discipleship appear in the Lectionary readings throughout Ordinary Time." -Tony AlonsoThis is a piece that will have many opportunities for use throughout the year, as indicated in the composer's notes. There are several appropriate places in the liturgy for this text; the refrain is ideal for quick memorization, making it attractive for use during the Communion processional. The optional bridge, with its contrapuntal cries of "Alleluia," provides a nice contrast to the mostly homophonic texture of the verses.
Tony Alonso offers this arrangement of Kantor's pairing of the old and the new (similar to his "Silent Night/Night of Silence" juxtaposition). This edition provides an instrumental interlude featuring GREENSLEEVES, thereby allowing the assembly to confidently sing their part against the countermelody of "Child of Light."
Composer: Daniel Kantor
From the Revival collection, this piece takes the tune LLANFAIR, adds a modern accompaniment, and pairs it with two texts by Charles Wesley. This very accessible work offers multiple presentation possibilities. Fresh and inviting!
Composer: Robert Williams
This is a highly practical and attractive, yet quite simple, song for anointing during confirmation. As a plus, it is bilingual. The English refrain is enriched by a Spanish, musically independent descant. The verses-almost like a litany of the saints-call out a long list of Christian names (Anglo and Hispanic) to which the eventual response is "Come and be sealed." Other names can easily be added or substituted, even those of the entire class.
Inspire your congregation with this favorite Pentecost text in a beautiful rendering of the traditional tune. With the aim of providing fresh arrangements for contemporary ensembles, this edition from Revival (G-9405; G-9538) provides parts for SAB choir, optional parts for C instrument and cello, and an optional harmonization with descant on the final stanza.

This is part of a larger, 14-octavo collection called Revival, G-9405, a series of traditional hymn arrangements for contemporary ensembles intended to lead and inspire the singing of the liturgical assembly. The flowing accompaniment of this song creates a feeling of vastness within a palette of simplicity. The text (sung in English, Spanish, Korean, and Tagalog) underscores the universality of Psalm 51's plea for the presence of God in our hearts. For cantor or soloist

Drawn from Luke's account of the Emmaus story, this rather folklike and systematically syncopated verse and refrain moves along at a good tempo making it an ideal processional. The essentially SAT scoring of the choral parts (basses can double the melody) lends a tight contemporary sound. Additional interest is created through a bridge section and instrumental interlude.Violin or C Instrument

This Communion processional is ideal for use throughout Ordinary Time and on the Sundays of Lent and Eastertide. The multiple verses for cantor and the instrumental interlude provide options for tailoring the length of the piece to the length of the Communion procession.
A litany invoking the coming of the Holy Spirit. A brief cantor-assembly dialog begins the piece and "teaches" the assembly their part. The choir accompanies the cantor's verses on a neutral syllable, switching to words with the assembly's response. For cantor or soloist
A traditional melody with a fresh arrangement by Tony Alonso will be rewarding for your choir, pianist and flautist. Parts of the Magnificat text (in Latin) are interspersed. Excellent part writing-a beautiful anthem deserving of attention!

Tony Alonso has beautifully set John L. Bell's text, which has its origins in the parable of the Prodigal Son. Each of the first 3 verses is from the point of view of the three main characters, combining them for the fourth verse. Ideal for Lent as well as any reconciliation-themed service.
Inspired by Psalm 121 and the writings of Thomas Merton, this impassioned declaration rhythmically moves with stately confidence, building to a crescendo that conveys with unwavering certainty that God ever walks this path before us. The tender melody resonates deep within the soul while the choral writing supports and enhances without detracting from the power of this poignant text. For cantor or soloist.Ê
