This unique setting of e.e. cummings' celebrated poem i thank You God is a challenge, but the overall effect is stunning. Dissonance, tone color, and texture are ever-changing in this a cappella gem where chord cluster follows chord cluster. Changing meter and tempo further accentuate the unbridled happiness expressed in the text. Cummings' vividly painted words are well-suited to René Clausen's inimitable gift of melody. Breathtaking. Exquisite. This powerful prayer for peace and mercy is sheer beauty. Layers of sound and color and texture weave seamlessly into an intricate tapestry of devotion. From the larger work, Memorial, written in response to the events of September 11, Kyrie is a moving, emotional plea for peace.

Rene Clausen's impressionistic La Lumiére (The Light) is a wonderful, sensual experience in tone color and texture. As the poet's spiritual perception changes, he views his visual landscape in a new light. In much the same way, Clausen transforms the listener's aural landscape with layer upon layer of changing harmony and musical texture. Written for a cappella choir with divisi in each voice part, this modern impressionistic choral will showcase the talents of the most discerning ensemble.

This lilting arrangement of the 23rd Psalm recalls for us David, the musician; David, who danced before the Lord; David, who found great joy in his love for God. René Clausen's Psalm 23 is fresh and dance-like, expressing the poetry of a man who was confident and strong in his faith. It is a wonderful anthem with a familiar text for use any Sunday of the year.

German hymn tune, Weisse Flaggen; some a cappella; soprano descant; effectual text expressing thankfulness and commitment to God What a powerful piece! Commissioned by the Presbyterian Association of Musicians for the tenth anniversary of the Westminster Conference on Worship and Music, René Clausen has set this fabulous text by Thomas Troeger to a majestic German hymn tune. God's strength and might are heard and felt in the music as Troeger's words remind us that we are the created, not the creators. Through Our Beating Hearts Remind Us heralds the awesome power and constant love and care of God, the Father. Every breath, every pulse beat is under His control. We are called to never forget what a gift life is. This is a majestic song of praise!

Words from Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 With rich, lush harmonies, mixed meter, and a lovely oboe obbligato, the music follows the wide-ranging emotions of the text in this exquisite composition. To Everything There Is a Season has been set by numerous composers, but René Clausen masterfully approaches this well-known scripture by enhancing the many moods of the lyric with color, text painting, and gently shifting meter as no one else can. Very moving.
