Betty Bertaux's works have expanded the body of quality repertoire for young singers. Her original compositions are tonally based and characterised by 20th century freshness. Text choices are made with the young singer in mind. Ranging from children's poetry to traditional folk texts in a variety of languages, they capture the imagination of the young vocal artist.

Based on a poem by Lewis Carroll, this charming work for unison treble voices is suitable for even the younger singers. The music captures the essence of the Carroll text, with its sense of innocence and fleeting pleasures of childhood. Excellent selection for school or children's choirs. Duration: 2:20.

This moving arrangement was performed by the Children's Chorus of Maryland at the National Tribute Memorial Service for Fallen Firefighters in October 2002, honoring over 400 men and women who perished in 2001 while performing acts of bravery and heroism.

There are countless wassail songs from the many regions of Great Britain, but Cornish Wassail derives from Cornwall, in the south of England. This cheerful, unison arrangement has two possible endings: the first is rather abrupt and often gets a laugh; the other is a bit longer, and involves audience participation. The choice is yours, and is sure to please. Duration: ca. 3:00.

While He is Born (Il est né) is suitably performed by a unison group of singers of any age, this arrangement was first performed in 1997 by the first grade class of Corpus Christi School in Piedmont, California. There are several musical concepts and skills that can be exercised during the rehearsal of the piece. Such elements as form, tonality, melody, meter, rhythm, harmony, dynamics, theory and expressiveness can all be explored through listening, thinking, movement and solfa.

How good and pleasant it is that people live together in peace. This compelling Israeli melody with its Dorian nature, small range, stepwise motion, and repetitive text is perfectly suited for singers of all ages. The addition of a sparse piano accompaniment and varied percussion timbres complement the effect of an exotic tonal flavor. Duration: ca. 3:15.
