Over their 15-year career the prolific Brothers notched up 50 U.S. Chart entries, 21 of them on the Coral label before signing with RCA Victor. Two generous CDs here, with 25 songs on each; most of the big hits on CD #1. Comfortable in many genres, they scored hits with top-40 pop like "Sentimental Me" and "Rag Mop," the country songs "Wagon Wheels" and "The Last Roundup," the religious-styled "Lovely Lady Dressed In Blue," the spiritual "Shadrack," the Hawaiian songs, Moon Of Manakoora" and "Hawaiian War Chant," the popular ballad "To Think You've Chosen Me, and novelty numbers such as "The Thing." There are of course standards such as "Stardust" and polkas like "Hoop Dee Doo." All are band accompanied, particularly nice are those recorded with Les Brown and his Band of Renown, "Undecided," "Sentimental Journey" and the wonderful "No Moon At All." There's too much good, entertaining stuff here to review, but the Brothers' trademark rich, smooth harmonies are consistently delightful throughout. Songlist: A Tree in the Meadow w. Monica Lewis, You, You, You Are the One, Cruising Down the River, Rag Mop, Sentimental Me, Music, Music, Music, Stars Are the Windows of Heaven, Can Anyone Explain? (No, No, No!), Thirsty for You Kisses, Oh Babe, The Thing, The Wang Wang Blues, Hawaiian War Chant, Undecided w. Les Brown, Sentimental Journey w. Les Brown, I Wanna Love You, I'll Still Love You, Auf Wiederseh'n Sweetheart, String Along, My Favourite Song, No Moon At All, Can't I?, You, You, You, My Love, My Life, My Happiness, I Can't Believe That You're in Love with Me, Tell Me A Story, Sing Me A Song of the Islands, Shadrack, I Love You Much Too Much, Only, Only You, and more Big Chicken Chorus : Poultry In Motion The Big Chicken Chorus offers top entertainment value, with great songs and medleys such as "It's A Good Day," "Beer Barrel Polka" and "How Do I Get Out Of This Chicken Outfit" medley. Including the members of 1999 Quartet Champs Fred, whose Clay Hine is director of this band of barnyard barbershoppers, the Chorus placed third in Anaheim. Some of the arrangements, such as "I Can't Give You Anything But Love/L-O-V-E" and the "Jungle Book Medley," are a virtual comic revue, with patter, exaggerated phrasing and silly word play; however, when it's time to get serious - read: sentimental - the Chorus knows how to straighten up and fly, well, right. "Georgia," and "Old Folks At Home" are restrained, stately and graceful. Songlist: It's a Good Day, Beer Barrel Polka, Georgia On My Mind, I Can't Give You Anything But Love / L-O-V-E, You Are My Sunshine, Jungle Book Medley, You Tell Me Your Dream, Steppin' Out Tonight / When Francis Dances With Me, Old Folks at Home, Sh-Boom, Brown Eyes Why Are You Blue, The Apples Medley, I Love You Truly, Chicken Hearted, How Do I Get Out of This Chicken Outfit, The Star Spangled Banner Medley Blue Cheese : Roll Back the Stone OK, it's a funny name for a 3-man, 1-woman Bluegrass Gospel quartet, formed by 4 BYU students in 2003, but once we've heard these yummy harmonies and spirited tunes, we aren't likely to forget the name! From the color pictures scattered in the liner notes we see that these four are having a good time performing and spreading their ministry, dressing in blue jeans, non-matching shirts and t-shirts, and even in hillbilly hats and beards. The 15 songs, however, are as simple and powerful as any a cappella Bluegrass or Gospel we have ever heard. "Reaping in the Spirit," "Brethren, We Have Met to Worship," the title tune, "Death Shall Not Destroy My Comfort," the wonderful "Angel Band," "Jesus' Love is like a River," "Abide with Me," the traditional Christmas tunes "What Child is This," "Silent Night," the spiritual "Christmas Train," with lyrics by the group, and the traditional "We'll Soone Be Done" are Gospel favorites. Secular tunes like "Danny Boy," with guest artist Kristine Perry, "You are my Sunshine" and "I am a Man of Constant Sorrow" from the movie "O Brother, Where Art Thou" are also excellent. Blue Cheese is strong, tasty stuff that takes us back to the beginnings of country music, that makes us want to tap our feet and sing along! Songlist: Reaping in the Spirit, Brethren, We Have Met to Worship, Roll Back the Stone, Death Shall Not Destroy My Comfort, Amazing Grace, Angel Band, Jesus Love is like a River, Abide With Me, Danny Boy, You Are My Sunshine, What Child is This?, Silent Night, Christmas Train, We'll Soon Be Done Fred : Putting The HA In HArmony These four gentlemen from Georgia, known otherwise as the "Clown Princes" of barbershop, have once again captured the hearts and funny bones of entertainment lovers everywhere with their newest collection of songs. "Putting the Ha in HArmony" is a double length recording, containing over 20 of Fred's most memorable live performances. The recording chronicles the past ten years of contests and shows, climaxing with their winning the SPEBSQSA's international quartet championship.
