Tears On My Pillow was first recorded by Little Anthony and the Imperials on End Records and was that group's debut recording under that name. Their original recording of the song became a Billboard Top 10 Pop smash, peaking at #4, and was The Imperials' first million-seller. It was also a two-sided hit, with its flip side, "Two People in the World," also becoming a major hit. Although it remains one of the Imperials' signature songs, "Tears on My Pillow" has been extensively covered, including a No. 1 in the UK Singles Chart version by Kylie Minogue in January 1990

This four piece doo wop group also incoporates classics such as 'Barbara Ann' and 'La Bamba' into their terrific repertoire, which includes can't-miss hits like 'Under the Boardwalk' and 'Why Do Fools Fall in Love.' They mimic psychedelic guitar twanging on 'Love Potion #9' and sizzle with finger- snappin' energy on the arpeggiated chords of 'Rock and Roll is Here to Stay.' 'Runaround Sue' crackles with energy and humor-these guys are clearly veteran performers. A highly professional and entertaining recording. These Alley Cats will win you over! Songlist: A Cappella, Morse Code Of Love, I'll Never Fall In Love Again, Teenager In Love, Run Around Sue, Tears On My Pillow, Why Do Fools Fall In Love, The Wanderer, My Girl, La Bamba/Twist And Shout, What's Your Name, Barbara Ann, Under the Boardwalk, Love Potion #9, Rock 'N Roll Is Here To Stay Charm : It's So Hard to Say Goodbye A re-issue of one of our best-selling CD's, this Jersey City group sing doo-wop and soul in the 'Boyz II Men' tradition, though their repetoire extends from the 'forties-era Ink Spots to Motown, a la the Stylistics or Temptations. Twenty songs, including seven previously unreleased, are included on this album, which was recorded in 1983. It is remarkable indeed the combination of vocal talent and range across such a variety of arrangements. Listen to 'Mint Julep,' for a gospel-influenced take on doo-wop; on the other hand, 'Drip Drop' is Chubby Checker twistin' rock 'n roll. Charm's version of the Dell Vikings' 'The Sun' works both sides against the middle, with a potent bass laying pipe underneath a honeyed falsetto. Other great tracks: "At My Front Door," "I Found A New Baby," "I Want You To Be My Girl." Songlist: I Found A New Baby, The Morse Code Of Love, Why Do You Have To Go, Stop, Look, Listen, One Mint Julep, Why Do Fools Fall In Love, Feelings, Can I, Sixty Minute Man, Misty, Sh-Boom, Drip Drop, The Sun, Brighter Day, Valerie, I Want You To Be My Girl, Ebb Tide, Tears On My Pillow, At My Front Door, It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday Showvinistics : Heart Of Saturday Night East Coast doo-wop group, whose five members ably perform oldies from a variety of styles - the common denominator of which is that they are all great American music! R & B influenced vocal harmony groups ('Drifter's Medley') and first-generation rockers, a la Buddy Holly ('Maybe Baby'), both contributed to the doo-wop sound of the fifties and early sixties. In turn, those trends evolved into Motown ('Lonely Teardrops'), and the Brill Building pop of Neil Sedaka ('Rainy Day Bells'). The Showvinistics' arrangements of songs from each of these eras retain the integrity of the style, while adding subtle impact with their solid and confident vocals. Four tracks are accompanied. Songlist: The Heart Of Saturday Night, Morse Code Of Love, Don't Ask Me To Be Lonely, Oh What A Night, Rainy Day Bells, Countdown to Love, Lonely Teardrops, Maybe Baby, Blue Moon, Drifter's Medley, Here I Am Broken Hearted, Tears On My Pillow, A White Sport Coat / Young Love, Star Spangled Banner |
