Written solely by Brian Wilson, the song is his very first composition. The lyrics were inspired by Judy Bowles, Wilson's first serious girlfriend, whom he had dated for three and a half years.[2] He explained the genesis of the song: "Back in 1961, I'd never written a song in my life. I was nineteen years old. And I put myself to the test in my car one day. I was actually driving to a hot dog stand, and I actually created a melody in my head without being able to hear it on a piano. I sang it to myself; I didn't even sing it out loud in the car. When I got home that day, I finished the song, wrote the bridge, put the harmonies together and called it 'Surfer Girl'.

This collection feature some of Brian Wilson's finest songs arranged by some of barbershop's top arrangers. What a great combination! Songlist: Surfer Girl, Kokomo, In My Room, Beach Boys Medley The Beach Boys : The Beach Boys Anthology The Beach Boys are an American rock band. Formed in 1961, the group gained popularity for its close vocal harmonies and lyrics reflecting a Southern California youth culture of cars and surfing. Brian Wilson's growing creative ambitions later transformed them into a more artistically innovative group that earned critical praise and influenced many later musicians. Songlist: All Summer Long, Barbara Ann, Be True To Your School, California Girls, Caroline, No, Catch A Wave, Dance, Dance, Dance, Darlin', Do It Again, Do You Want To Dance?, Don't Back Down, Don't Worry Baby, 409, Fun, Fun, Fun, Girls On The Beach, God Only Knows, Good Vibrations, Help Me Rhonda, Heroes And Villains, I Get Around, In My Room, It's OK, Keep An Eye On Summer, Kokomo, Little Deuce Coupe, The Little Girl I Once Knew, Little Honda, Little Saint Nick, Pet Sounds, Please Let Me Wonder, and more MC6 : Doo Wop A Cappella Jackson, Paul, Kim, Joe, Gary, Dan and Rick have at least two things in common: they're all wonderful Doo-Wop singers, and they're earning a lot of fans in Arizona! "Burgers, Shakes Doo-Wop," contains 16 pretty straightforward covers of Doo-Wop standards like Bob Gaudio's "Sherry," Brian Wilson's "Little Deuce Coupe," Fred Parris' "In the Still of the Night," Hart & Rodgers' "Blue Moon," "The Lion Sleeps Tonight..." this album might have been called "Greatest Doo-Wop Hits of All Time!" These 7 guys (MC6 plus 1?) absolutely nail every song, and the additional voices add more richness and depth to the harmonies. Other favorites are "Up on the Roof" and "One Fine Day" by Carole King and Gerry Goffin; "Runaround Sue" by Ernie Maresca and Dion Dimucci, Al Yankovic's very silly "Since You've Been Gone," Del Shannon's "I Go to Pieces," Billy Joel's "The Longest Time" and the album closes with Harmony Sweeps audience favorite "Goodnight Sweetheart" by James Hudson and Calvin Carter. MC6 clearly loves Doo-Wop and entertaining us, and, like the burgers and shakes we remember, it's all big fun and delicious! Songlist: Sherry, 409 / Little Deuce Coupe, Come Go With Me, In The Still Of The Night, Blue Moon, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, Surfer Girl, Up On The Roof, Runaround Sue, One Fine Day, Since You've Been Gone, Teenager In Love, So Much In Love, I Go To Pieces, The Longest Time, Goodnight, Sweetheart, Goodnight OC Times : Destinations "Destinations" is the second well-crafted album by Lead Sean Devine (formerly of one of our favorite groups, the Alley Cats), Tenor Shawn York, Baritone Patrick Claypool and Bass Cory Hunt of Orange County, CA-based OC Times. When we reviewed their debut album "Let's Fly" they had just won Silver (2nd Place) medals at the 2007 SPBSQSA International Quartet competition in Denver. We called them "the fast-rising future of Barbershop," and we were so right, in 2008 they won Gold! After that came a national and international tour that covered 33 states and 9 countries, from Madrid, Spain and St. Petersburg, Russia to Helsinki, Finland and Aukland, New Zealand. Returning home, OCT made their next Destination a recording studio to record their 14 favorite tunes, most arranged by their friend Aaron Dale. Some favorites are Freddie Mercury of Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," a pair by Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, "Surfer Girl" and "Fun, Fun, Fun;" Howard Steiner/Buddy Kaye's "Don't Be a Baby, Baby," William Trader's "Fool Such As I," Randy Newman's "I Will Go Sailing No More," Billy Rose/Mabel Wayne's "It Happened in Monterey," Alan & Marilyn Bergman/Marvin Hamlisch's poignant "The Way We Were" and the live cut "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You" by Maurice Mysels/Ira Kosloff. Each of these cuts is a little Barbershop masterpiece, brought home to us by consummate entertainers OC Times, and "Destinations" is big fun from beginning to end! Songlist: Oh Look At Me Now, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Surfer Girl, Fun. Fun, Fun, Don't Be a Baby, Baby, Be My Baby Tonight, Dream a Little Dream of Me, You Belong to Me, Fool Such As I, I Will Go Sailing No More, It Happened In Monterey, The Way We Were, Unbelievable, I Want You, I Need You, I Love You |
