First stepping heavily onto unsuspecting stages in 1996, the Buffoons' blend of Barbershop and humor has digested very well with audiences-and judges! They won the 2001 Buckeye Invitational Comedy Quartet Competition, and are the 2005 Johnny Appleseed District Champions. Internationally they are currently ranked 16th in the world. But, despite these successes, the group point out, "our true love is to entertain," and entertain they do! Dressed in their "fast food server" outfits, the Buffoons deliver 13 of the silliest parodies, take-offs and generally foolish songs we've heard since Moosebutter took 2nd at the Harmony Sweeps Finals! Take(out), for example, "Crash Test Dummies" and "Dummy Mummy," which portray life from the perspective of people with checkered circles stamped on their plastic skulls. "Food Jive" is an ode to food addiction, "Mistakes" is the cure for it, and two hilarious live competition cuts from the '06 Indianapolis BHS contest, "Let's Get a Plate from Them All" and "South Rampart Street Buffet" continue the food theme to great audience response. Stellar parodies of "Last Night Was the End of the World" and "Yes Sir, That's Godzilla" - well, you get the picture. Dr. Christopher Aspaas, assistant professor of choral/vocal music at Northfield, MN's St. Olaf College directs the Viking Chorus, a group of more than 80 first-year student men who have been organized to sing the highest quality literature. Their repertoire includes motets, cantata movements and anthems, contemporary choral pieces, spirituals, folksongs, and music traditionally associated with men's singing groups. There are 17 songs here, some favorites are the Moses Hogan spiritual "Plenty Good Room," the African song "One by One," from "Rhythm of the Pridelands," "The Water is Wide/Blow Ye Winds" medley, the profound "This is My Song" by Jean Sibelius, the rhythmic gem (with non-vocal percussion) "Betelehemu," the powerful spiritual "Rainbow Round My Shoulder," Ludovico Viadana's "Exsultate Justi," Franz Biebl's "Ave Maria," Eric Sayre's "Agnus Dei," and the traditional songs "Danny Boy," "Byker Hill," "Loch Lomond" and "Shine on Me." There is some light accompaniment (such as organ, piano and percussion). "Repertoire" is a strong collection, sung with a masculine, soulful spirit that touches and moves us!

Prior to their debut recording session for Specialty Records in 1952, Label owner Art Rube advised the Swan Silvertones to "really shout and make everybody happier and make the old sisters fall out and really tear down the building!". The Swans, often regarded as a "smooth" quartet, were in a stylistic transition during the three years they spent at Specialty and the company succeeded in bringing out their harder, churchier edge. These 18 selections were never previously released. Eight were recorded in the studio and ten in front of a live audience, all capturing the famous group singing and testifying as it haven't before or since.
