Perpetuum Jazzile : Vocal Ecstasy From the large Slovenian pop choir Perpetuum Jazzile, best known for their cover of Toto's Africa (with over 19 million YouTube views), this collection of top hits will allow pop, show and concert choirs everywhere to recreate this amazing sound! Several songs have vocal percussion. Songlist: Joyful, Joyful, Oh Happy Day, Africa, September, Boogie Wonderland, Just The Way You Are, Rosanna, True Colors, In The Stone Various Arrangers : Fun Songs for Mixed Voices A Cappella "Just the Way You Are" - Billy Joel's pop hit from 1978 receives a fresh and contemporary treatment in this a cappella setting, with melodic lines seamlessly moving from part to part within a light vocal texture that will challenge your pop/jazz singers to perform at peak level! "A Groovy Kind of Love" - From the king'singers' album Circle of Life comes this great 1966 pop song that was covered by Phil Collins in the '80s. "Bring Back That Leroy Brown" - For a novelty change-of-pace, this song by Queen's Freddie Mercury is arranged by Philip Lawson. Fun and funny, your group will love to perform it and your audience will be entertained. "Rosanna" - Toto's 1982 pop hit in a colorful a cappella setting with beatbox vocals and fun triadic harmonies. A great showcase for a pop ensemble or larger concert group! Songlist: Just the Way You Are, A Groovy Kind of Love, Bring Back That Leroy Brown, Rosanna Voice Trek : An A Cappella Trek St. Paul, MN-based 3-woman, 2-man jazz quintet Voice Trek has a rich, clean, poised sound, and arrangements that can turn very familiar tunes like the Beatles' "Ticket to Ride," Dave Brubeck's jazz anthem "Take Five," Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now" and Michel LeGrand's "Windmills of Your Mind" and turn them into new songs, unexpectedly tasty musical treats. There's a spirited, sassy cover of Rossini's "William Tell Overture" that would have the Swingles looking over their shoulders, Sinatra's "Fly Me To The Moon" becomes a (lightly accompanied) scattish, salsa romp, and Toto's "Rosanna" is a finger-snapping winner, as is Brazilian composer Manfredo Fest's energetic "That's What She Says." A bonus track, "America the Beautiful," was included "after the tremendous response from the a cappella community when they performed it at the West Coast Summit!" 11 songs, each a many-faceted gem. "An A cappella Trek," Voice Trek's 5th recording, is a joy from beginning to end, one of the best Vocal Jazz CDs we've heard this year! Songlist: That's What She Says, Ticket To Ride, Take Five, Both Sides Now, The William Tell Overture, A Little Luck, Fly Me to the Moon, The Windmills of Your Mind, Rosanna, America, The Beautiful Wibijazz'n : In The Pocket Wibijazz'n is a 17-strong, mixed, student-run contemporary a cappella ensemble based in Winters College, York University, Toronto. Since 1988 the members have been solemnly dedicated to the proliferation of the Groove, and to having unreasonable amounts of fun in the process! "In the Pocket" has 16 songs, including the 7-song medley, "WIBI FM (Take 2), which represent the group's favorites from the past 5 years: "Automatic," "Change the World," the marvelous "We Belong," "5 Reasons Why," an ethereal cover of "Come Back to Me," a bouncy, tongue-in-cheek "Sesame Street" and "Pinball Number Count," a dramatic cover of Sting's "Fortress Around Your Heart," great vocal percussion on "Rosanna" and Peter Gabriel's classic "In Your Eyes," and finishing with the brilliant, 9-minute medley, WIBI FM. A sumptuous, delicious CD by one of the best collegiate groups we've heard! Recommended. Our favorite: Sting's "Fortress Around Your Heart" Songlist: WIBI FM, Automatic, Change The World, We Belong, Reasons Why, Wibijazz'n' Stroke, What A Girl Wants, Come Back To Me, Sesame Street, Pinball Number Count, Fortress Around Your Heart, Tully Jig, Beyond The Limit, Rosanna, In Your Eyes, WIBI FM (take 2) |
