Originally composed and recorded in 1947 for the soundtrack of the film Green Dolphin Street by the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, it became a standard after Miles Davis recorded it in 1958. The lyric and original introduction have largely been forgotten over the years, however both are featured prominently in this brand new arrangement from Scott Kitzmiller. A unique tune that alternates between a Bossa Nova feel (straight 8th notes) and a Swing feel (swung 8ths), this is chart for the quartet or chorus looking for something different and refreshing to add to their repertoire.
Release Date: 1947
Reminiscent of the Gene Puerling/Singers Unlimited arrangement, this new realization alternates between standard swing and a soft Samba feel. There is ample room for both singers and players to step out with solos and improvisations.
