They generated many hits throughout the 1950's and well into the next decade, and so popular were they that, as representatives for Coca-Cola, they received the highest fee in advertising history up to that time. These 24 romantic melodies just inspire harmony, and the orchestrations are brilliant as well. "Tiptoe Through The Tulips" uses imitation among the horn and string sections to reinforce the vocal line, while "Them There Eyes" is punctuated by percussion and horn accents and a half-time coda. The three voices, very similar in tone color and generally having a low tessitura in the female range, blend easily, and their vocal style is natural and without artifice. It's wonderful stuff. Songlist: Do You Remember When?, Sometimes I'm Happy, June Night, All By Myself, Tiptoe Through The Tulips With Me, Them There Eyes, Mississippi Mud, Cuddle Up A Little Closer, Lovey Mine, Does Your Heart Beat For Me?, Somebody Loves Me, S'wonderful, Blue Skies, I'm In The Mood For Love, Don't Take Your Love From Me, My Darling, My Darling, Moonglow, Tenderly, I Hadn't Anyone 'Till You, If You Were Only Mine, Wonderful One, I'm Confessin', Moon Song, Love Is Here To Stay, Think Of Me Kindly Vocal Majority : With Strings We love the VM Chorus' a cappella recordings, but, for a change of pace, this romantic CD will soothe even the most implacable soul. Familiar favorites arranged by Jim Clancy such as "I Only Have Eyes For You" and "When I Fall In Love" bask in the smooth vocal blend. Most of the tempos are a slow 4/4, and the orchestral treatments are lush but restrained, allowing the melody to remain center stage. Songlist: Some of the Songs, Chances Are, I Only Have Eyes for You, Can You Feel the Love Tonight?, Moonlight Serenade, When I Fall In Love, Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, I Don't Want to Walk Without You, Moonglow, September Song, And More Vox One : Chameleon This may well be the last album of jazz virtuosos, Vox One." These musicians created the most polished jazz (on the rock and blues edge of the spectrum) by anyone so far. Meticulous arrangements sung by superb performers make you forget any prior arrangement that was the benchmark to your mind's ear for how a particular song was supposed to sound. From the opening wail of the vocal electric guitar and definitive drum beat on "Chameleon" to the complex chord structures on "Round Midnight," you will be lost in a panoply of possibilities for the human voice. John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Harold Arlen, Herbie Hancock, Theolonius Monk and more are treated with nothing short of the genius they deserve. The title cut from one of our best selling CD's ever, "Chameleon," is a cool and refreshing cocktail of vocal jazz. Having emerged from the highly regarded Berklee School of Music, their sound reflects the talent and training that enables them to articulate sophisticated musical concepts with ease. This amazingly rich sonic tapestry is heard in the bent notes of the "guitar" and the slur of the "bass" on this track-amazing! Songlist: Chameleon, Naima (My Dreams), Moonglow, All Blues, Danny Boy, On Green Dolphin Street, You Don't Know What Love Is, Over the Rainbow, Teen Town, 'Round Midnight |

This 1930s standard starts off with melancholy solos between boy and girl. It then takes on the familiar, rhythmic swing that we all know and love. Russ Robinson lets the song shine through with this arrangement. Repetition, plus simple and obtainable harmonies make this a wonderful selection for many age groups and a perfect teaching piece of swing and jazz. Elegant and smooth.
