Gitika Partington : Community Voiceworks Community Voiceworks is an unrivalled collection of fun, reflective, empowering, and moving songs in the practical Voiceworks format. With five sections covering a variety of life's key themes, there is something for everyone - from classic hits such as 'Sitting on the Dock of the Bay', 'If I had a hammer', 'Walking on Sunshine', and 'Something Inside So Strong' to well-known traditional songs and new works by acclaimed choir leaders. The CD provides recordings of individual parts, allowing non-readers to learn aurally, and song sheets are photocopiable. A truly inclusive collection for all groups who love singing together, regardless of experience! Songlist: I open my arms wide, I am not thinking about you, Spring Song, A cat meditating, A Twist in the Air, Deep Down in my Soul, All will be well, Nickomo: E malama, Caballos galopando, Amazing grace, How Sweet the Sound, Down in the River to Pray, There is silence in my heart tonight, Keep me, Peace white dove, Sitting on the Dock of the Bay, Ain't gonna study war, Ride this Train, People get ready, Give me wings, I can hear a train a-comin', If I had a hammer, Sold down the river, Shona malanga, Ya Basta!, I wish I knew how it would feel to be free, Keep your heart good, Think of me, The Mountain, A Pebble on my Tongue, and more Kinsey Sicks : Dragapella Yes, this CD is everything the group's name implies, and more! Taking on issues as serious as AIDS and as hilarious as the never-ending pursuit of bodies beautiful (their own or someone else's), this quartet is flagrant in its willingness to gore any sacred cow. The only taste they could be accused of having is musical. The arrangements and harmonies, while not innovative, are perfectly respectable and provide a satisfactory backdrop for the lyrical content. "AZT," a parody of the Jackson Five's "ABC," uses the names of HIV medications in a perfect synchronization of words and rhythm. "Impossible Mission" is a paean to Tom Cruise, "Lifesize Jesus" an homage to Karen Carpenter. The "Kinsey Sicks" theme song is an X-rated group mission statement (Dragapella "puts the sin in syncopation"). The Supremes' "Love Child" is fatally lampooned in "Baster Baby Blues." Dragapella's social satire will be a favorite, no matter your orientation! Songlist: Brava!, Gentle Loving People, Kinsey Sicks Theme Song, Take Me Home to Meet Your Mama, Lifesize Jesus, Men Are Pigs (But Why Keep Kosher?), Be Here Next Year, The Rose, Impossible Mission, Begona's Song, Self-Esteem, Keep Your Hands Away, Worry, Proud Marys, AZT, I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free, Baster Baby Blues, Macaroona, Beaver |
