Hooked on a Feeling” is a 1968 pop song written by Mark James and originally performed by B. J. Thomas. Thomas's version featured the sound of the electric sitar, and reached number five in 1969 on the Billboard Hot 100 It has been recorded by many other artists, including Blue Swede, whose version reached number one in the United States in 1974. The Blue Swede version made singer Björn Skifs' "Ooga-Chaka-Ooga-Ooga" intro well known (and famous in Sweden at the time), although it had been used originally by British musician Jonathan King in his 1971 version of the song
In 1974, the Swedish pop group Blue Swede did a cover version, which included the "ooga chaka" introduction from Jonathan King's 1971 cover. Their arrangement was inspired by a bootleg recording of Do You Like Worms? from the unfinished album Smile by the Beach Boys.[8] The Blue Swede version of the song also tweaked the lyrics to avoid a drug reference. This version reached number one in the United States. Billboard ranked it as the No. 20 song for 1974.

Songlist: Titanium, Be Our Guest, Happy Together, Fight Song, Hooked on a Feeling B Vocal : Seis Voces... Nada Mas? We just had the rare pleasure of experiencing b vocal, Spain's fast-rising all male a cappella sextet, winner of the New York City 2010 Harmony Sweepstakes Regional, live on stage at the National Finals in San Rafael. Their wild, funny set, culminating in a hilarious a cappella rendition of "The Barber of Seville" that would make Ward Swingle proud, earned them the most lopsided ballot count for Audience Favorite we can remember. There is so much vocal talent here, and so much natural humor that recalls physical comedians such as Charlie Chaplin and the Marx Brothers, b vocal have become big stars in Spain and Europe, and are well on their way in the U.S. There are 15 songs here, a healthy mix of songs in English, such as The Back Street Boys' "I Want It That Way," The Corrs' "What Can I Do," B.J. Thomas's "Hooked on a Feeling," live renditions of Elton John's anthem "Your Song" and Wet Wet Wet's "Love is All Around" and Extreme's "More Than Words;" and in Spanish, such as Juanes' "A Dios Le Pido," the fairly silly "Mucho Mejor" by Los Rodriguez, Marc Anthony's "Te Tengo Aqui" and Mana's "Clavado en un Bar." B vocal was clearly having big fun on stage at the Finals, and just as clearly having a great time in the studio recording "Seis voces." We love this group, and are pretty sure you will enjoy "Seis voces!" Songlist: A Dios Le Pido, Color Esperanza, Te Tengo Aqui, Mediterraneo, I Want It That Way, Carolina, What Can I Do, Mucho Mejor, Sabor de Amor, Clavado en un Bar, Hooked On a Feeling, Your Song, Si Tu me Dices Ven, Love Is All Around, More Than Words Martini Quartet : Shaken, Stirred and Crowned Sweet Adelines 2012 International Quartet Champions, also known as "Queens of Harmony" Martini is actually an international voices across the border phenomenon, with Bass Shannon Harris and tenor Corinna Garriock hailing from Canada, and lead Michelle Shoemaker and baritone DeAnne Haugen from the United States. The group first got together in 2007 with a different tenor and lead, and placed 8th in the world 2008 in Honolulu. Michelle joined the group in early 2010, and Martini placed 5th in Seattle after just a few months of rehearsal. Then in January 2011, Corinna joined the group, and 6 rehearsals later, created magic in Houston, being crowned Queens! "Shaken, Stirred & Crowned" is a 13-song "best-of" collection that celebrates Martini's remarkable rise. Favorites are a pair of live standards, "How Are Things In Glocca Morra" and "My Baby Just Cares For Me" (with some very funny asides); a nice arrangement of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," the Mancini brothers' "Sometimes," M. James' pop hit "Hooked On A Feeling," C. McVie's "Songbird," Lerner & Lowe's "If Ever I Would Leave You," George Gershwin's "Somebody Loves Me," a nice cover of J. Lynne's "Mr. Blue Sky," R. Gaylord's "I Will Never Pass This Way Again" and the lovely traditional tune "The Parting Glass." Martini has the song selection, tight harmonies, sweet leads, powerful stage presence and ringing chords of which champions are made. Don't miss this "best-of" by Sweet Adelines' Best! Songlist: Mr Blue Sky, Somebody Loves Me, If Ever I Would Leave You, Songbird, Hooked On A Feeling, Sometimes, One By One, Charmed Life, Hallelujah, How Are Things In Glocca Morra?, My Baby Just Cares For Me, I Will Never Pass This Way Again, The Parting Glass Melodeers : Melodeers Magic Formed in 1960, the 125-strong Sweet Adelines chorus the Melodeers have been named International Champions three times. Director Jim Arns did more than half of the arrangements on the CD, and he gets a lot of credit for the group's energetic and vivacious style. There are 12 songs here: "We'll Sing All We Know Tonight," "My Honey's Lovin' Arms," "The Churchbells are Ringing For Mary," "Let Freedom Ring," "Rocky Top," "The Chicago Medley," "It's Your Song," the very funny "I Wanna Come Back As A Man," "Fever," "Hooked On A Feeling" and "The Seventies Medley" ("I Got You Babe," "Stayin' Alive" and "YMCA") plus a pair of live tracks recorded at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, "Floatin' Down to Cotton Town" and "Oh How I Miss You Tonight." These women sing like there's no tomorrow, and that's what makes the Magic! Songlist: We'll Sing All We Know Tonight, My Honey's Lovin' Around, The Churchbells Are Ringing For Mary, Let Freedom Ring, Rocky Top, The Chicago Medley, It's Your Song, I Wanna Come Back as A Man, Fever, Big Hair, Hooked On A Feeling, The Seventies Medley, Floatin' Down To Cotton Town, Oh How I Miss You Tonight Sirens : PreMusical Syndrome Not to be confused with the Collegiate ensemble USC Sirens, The Sirens were formed in New York City in the Fall of 2000, and are a Contemporary a cappella all-woman septet. "PreMusical Syndrome" is their debut CD, and it's an excellent one. 8 all-a cappella cover tunes, beginning with George Michael's "Freedom 90," Lenny Kravitz' "Fly Away," Radiohead's "High and Dry" and Amanda Marshall's "Sunday Morning After." Other winners are U2's "Pride," Blue Swede's "Hooked on a Feeling" and a very nice "TV Medley" that pushes a bunch of our nostalgia buttons. The Sirens have a fresh, clean, fun sound, we enjoyed every of "Syndrome" and we're looking forward to hearing more. Songlist: Freedom 90, Fly Away, High & Dry, Love Will Keep Us Together, Sunday Morning After, Hooked on a Feeling, Pride (In the Name of Love), TV Medley Toxic Audio : Toxic Audio The release of this CD has been eagerly awaited - fans of the group's live performances have been clamoring for it! This mixed quintet, based in Florida, has all kinds of chops, as singers as well as entertainers. They have a contemporary sound, including vocal percussion, but a jazzy influence can be detected, such as on the track "Loving You," (no surprise, as the song was arranged by Yumiko Matsuoka). Indeed, it is this facility that fleshes out the arrangements and gives the finished product substance. "Hooked On A Feeling" chugs along with its "ooga chaka" pulse - an example where humor also works musically. "My Cherie Amour" shows once again the tightness of the "rhythm section," "Big Yellow Taxi," arranged by the group, proves their facility in this area. Several original songs show another facet of the group's talent. Songlist: A Toxic Tribute To Pat And Debby Boone, Spooky, Can't Win, Loving You, Hooked On A Feeling, Ordinary Life, Take A Chance On Me/ Dancing Queen, My Cherie Amour, Big Yellow Taxi, Outta My Mind, Say Goodbye, The Super-Phat Low-Cal Disney Rap, A Dream Is A Wish UR2Kam : A Cappella UR2KAM is Simo Breede, baritone, his brother Tanel Breede, bass, Markus Leppoja, 1st tenor, and Mart Loite, 2nd tenor, and they are young, good-looking barbershop-doo-woppers from Estonia (please no "Estonia when you're driving in your car" jokes!). The liner notes are in Estonian, so we don't know what UR2KAM means, only that the group does all their own very mellow arrangements. There are a number of western pop covers here, sung in cutely-accented English; among our favorites: Jimmy Buffett's "Kokomo," "Sloop John B," "Sealed With A Kiss," "Hooked On A Feeling," "Blue Moon," "Ave Maria," and "Amazing Grace"-which highlights Tanel's smooth, powerful bass. Not in English, but spirited and entertaining: "Paula, sul on poisipea," "Labi saju," Jahikoera armuulg," and "Rajalaul." The CD is fresh and sweet-the guys have a lot of talent, and this is an excellent first effort for them! Songlist: Intro, K-K-K-Katy, Kokomo, Blue Moon, My Special Prayer, Sealed With A Kiss, Hooked on a Feeling, Paula, sul on poisipea, Ave Maria, Labi saju, Sloop John B, Amazing Grace, Jahikoera armuulg, Rahalaul Vocal Six : Vocal Six First CD by Swedish male sextet, Vocal Six, released in 1992. Though broadly classified as contemporary, in actuality their sound, and selection of material, leans heavily towards jazz. Compact close harmony, brilliant swipes and scat breaks characterize their style, as exemplified by "Music, Music, Music," "My Baby Just Cares For Me" and a deliciously understated arrangement of "I Left My Heart In San Francisco." A poignant, piano-accompanied "My Funny Valentine," wrings out every teardrop, as does the haunting Sting cover, "Sister Moon." Vocal Six plays the dance card with the "Bad/Thriller" medley and the group's own "Barberhouse Acid Rap," where they loosen their collars and grunt, James Brown style. Songlist: Wake Up!, Lady Madonna, Tango, Bad/ Thriller, Sister Moon, Barberhouse Acid Rap, Music, Music, Music, My Baby Just Cares for Me, I Left My Heart In San Francisco, My Funny Valentine, Baby, Hooked on a Feeling, John Blund |

Hooked on a Feeling was written by Mark James and was a number one hit for pop group Blue Swede in 1974. The song has been revived over the years through television and movies most recently in the blockbuster film Guardians of the Galaxy. Perform this piece in the campy Blue Swede style, enjoying the fun-loving lyric and playful melody.
