"Dream On" is a power ballad by Aerosmith from their 1973 debut album, Aerosmith. Written by lead singer Steven Tyler, this song was their first major hit and became a classic rock radio staple. Released in June 1973, it peaked at number 59 on the Billboard Hot 100 but hit big in the band's native Boston, where it was the number one single of the year on WBZ-FM, number five for the year on WRKO and number 16 on WMEX (AM). The song received immediate heavy airplay too on the former WVBF (FM), often showing up in the #1 position on "The Top Five At Five" in June 1973.

Ernie Haase & Signature Sound : Dream On With this collection from the men's southern gospel quartet Ernie Haase and Signature Sound, you can recreate the ragtime style of "Are You Enjoying the Show," or the bluesy heart of "My Heavenly Father Watches Over Me." With its enchanting doo-wop backup, excite your audience with the tireless energy of "Never Give Up, Never Give In," or move them with Bill Gaither's timeless "Since Jesus Passed By" in a stirring arrangement by Lari Goss and Wayne Haun. This collection is a must for any ensemble or fan who wishes to sing the finest in southern gospel music. Songlist: Right Place, Right Time, Reason Enough, My Heavenly Father Watches Over Me, Dream On, Never Give Up, Never Give In, Since Jesus Passed By, No Unknown Soldiers, Sundays are Made for Times Like These, A Good Heart, Between the Cross and Heaven, Are You Enjoying the Show?, The Old Landmark, Out of Bondage, We Need Each Other Hookslide : Original Spin We've seen Daly City, CA all-male quartet Hook Slide at a West Coast Summit and a couple of Harmony Sweepstakes Regionals, including the 2002 Regional where they missed going to the finals by the smallest of margins. What we saw was a charismatic, talented group with an energetic, beautifully choreographed stage show and a winning combination of covers and excellent material written and arranged by the group. Listening to their debut CD "Original" only reinforces our opinion that Hookslide is going places! Included are mostly songs by the group: "It's You," "Needed More," "Don't Let Me Go," Simple Minds' "Don't You Forget About Me," "What Sin," "Tossed," "Make A Right," "Maybe Next Time," "Waiting," "My Hidden Wish," the driving, manic "Overreacting," a brilliant arrangement of Aerosmith's "Dream On" and "Funkbus." Paul Anderson, Mayank Thanawala, Jonathan Pilat and George Hoffman have a knack of writing and arranging to the strengths of the group, especially Jon's vocal percussion. The liner notes are beautiful and include all the words to the original songs-which is good, because Original Spin" is the kind of CD we'll want to listen to a few times to fully appreciate! Songlist: It's You, Needed More, Don't Let Me Go, Don't You Forget About Me, What Sin, Tossed, Make A Right, Maybe Next Time, Waiting, My Hidden Wish, Overreacting, Dream On, Funkbus Sixth Wave : It Will Come To You The talented three men and three women from Los Angeles who call themselves Sixth Wave first got together in 1999 with the worthy goal of singing in the National Harmony Sweepstakes. To their surprise and our delight, they won the 2001 Finals, and they accomplished their second goal of recording their first excellent CD that same year. Appearing with the luminaries of the a cappella world, The Bobs, Rockapella, Swingle Singers, m-pact and The Perfect Gentlemen, they went to work on "It Will Come to You," their second CD, containing collaborations with Gabriel Mann, Joe Bob Finetti and Michelle Weir, as well as their first three original tunes, Gerald White's "You'll Always Remember the Song," Cindy Bourquin and Gerald's title tune, and a jazz tune by their friend Kent Carlson, "She's Been Around The Block." We have to say right off that "It Will Come" is the best jazz CD we have heard in a long time. From a stellar arrangement of Sting's "Fragile," a sweet cover of the manic jazz chestnut "Twisted," and absolutely nailing Aerosmith's rock anthem "Dream On," to incredibly arranged covers of "Strange Magic," Santana's "Oye Como Va" and a "William Tell Overture" cover that would make not only the Swingles but Rossini himself look over his shoulder, this CD is unbelievably good. The jazz classic "Jeannine," with vocal percussion by Joe Bob, totally soars, and an "Earth, Wind and Fire Medley" that incongruously includes Lennon/McCartney's "Got To Get You Into My Life," with the EWF disco hits "September," "After The Love Is Gone" and "Sing A Song," has to be heard to be believed. We loved Sixth Wave at the finals, and we love this CD!! Songlist: It Will Come To You, Fragile, Twisted, Dream On, Oye Como Va, Strange Music, William Tell Overture, She's Been Around The Block, You Are There, Jeannine, Eart, Wind and Fire Medley, You'll Always Remember The Song Voices Of Lee : In God's Hands The 18 mixed voices of Cleveland, TN-based Lee University's Voices of Lee, directed by Danny Murray, have a lush musical style noted for its excellence in harmony, spirit and performance. Since their debut in 1994, this Contemporary Christian a cappella group has delighted audiences worldwide with a repertoire of high-energy patriotic numbers, and heartfelt gospel favorites. "In God's Hands" is their fifth excellent CD. Nine songs: a beautifully arranged version of "How Great Thou Art," "More Than Wonderful," "Golden Stair," the dramatic "Jesus, The One and Only," the lovely title tune (light piano accompaniment), the inspirational "Dream On," the prophetic "Midnight Cry," and "He Giveth More Grace." Soaring solos, powerful harmonies and message - it adds up to another winner for Voices of Lee. Recommended. Songlist: How Great Thou Art, More Than Wonderful, Golden Stair, Give Me Jesus, Jesus, The One and Only, In God'S Hands, Dream On, Midnight Cry, He Giveth More Grace |
