The lovely King Sisters, hailing from Utah, were six in number, though the group usually featured four at a time, allowing for flexibility as family commitments encroached. Having been influenced by the Boswell Sisters, they sought fame and fortune in the early thirties, and began singing with bandleader Horace Heidt. Their success continued into the forties and fifties, as contemporaries of the Andrews and McGuire Sisters, and even into the 1960's, when they had their own television program, "The King Family Show." With their orchestra, conducted by Frank DeVol, the girls produced a slew of close harmony classics, from the wistful ballad, as in "The Day You Came Along" and "I Don't Know Why," to the cheerful "Cielito Linda," "You Made Me Love You" and "Pagan Love Song"; and who could forget "When The Swallows Came Back To Capistrano"? What a trip down memory lane!

It's no surprise that The King's Singers have recorded a huge number of love songs on all kinds of albums over the last fifty years. Some of these were albums devoted to love songs like Chanson d'amour and Romance du soir. Other albums couldn't help but include music about love, although their theme was actually different. This album, Love Songs, is a chance to revisit some of the ensemble's favorite tracks that they've recorded over the last two decades, compiled from across their back catalogue with Signum Records. The tracks they've chosen have come from five different albums, released between 2008 and 2017. Rather than trying to take in any of the enormous number of classical love songs from the back catalogue, the group wanted to focus on some of the best folk songs, jazz standards, and pop songs that have featured in King's Singers concerts throughout their history. The Real Group : Debut   

This album is the first by The Real Group (recorded in 1987) as you might suspect from the title. It was recorded with two microphones straight to a two-track tape deck with no mix down. Amazing! They are already so good you won't realize that fact by the most critical listening. What dynamic balance! The original release was a vinyl edition of 2500. In 1995 that early recording was rereleased on cd and given the appropriate title, Debut. Of the thirteen tunes, three are sung in Swedish, while the rest are the types of familiar covers that we've come to expect, "All Of Me," "Misty," "Li'l Darlin'," "Night And Day," "As Time Goes By," "My Romance" and "Who Put The Bomp," among others. Formed in 1975, the Side Street Ramblers went through an epic journey to winning the SPEBSQSA Quartet Gold in 1983, having to replace their lead singer three times and such hurdles as a case of the flu that turned their bass into a tenor. But Keith Houts, tenor, Brian Beck, lead, Dennis Malone, baritone, and Earl Hagn, bass, were nothing if not focused and persistent, as the many costume changes in the colorful liner notes show. With the trophy in hand, the group went on to perform in 34 states and 12 foreign countries and become one of the best-loved barbershop groups of all time. "Encore" is a 2-CD set, which includes 30 great SSR classics. The guys are equally adept at cracking us up, tugging on our heartstrings or knocking us back in our seats with a ringing barbershop chord. Chaka Khan has been singing for 35 years. The multi-platinum, Grammy Award winning singer began her career in the early 1970s with the pre-imminent funk group Rufus. A beautiful and dynamic vocalist, Chaka was raised on Chicago's South Side. She began her career as a solo artist interestingly, singing jazz. Her fame however, came with contemporary solo funk hits like "I Feel For You" and the classic "I'm Every Woman," which she successfully recorded 10 years before Whitney Houston's cover version. This 1992 live performance at New York's famed jazz club The Blue Note, finds Chaka in the musical environment in which she has always felt most creative. In great voice and surrounded by five talented jazzmen, she performs a rare catalog of songs closely associated wit jazz. Several of which cannot be found on her recordings. She sings the Ellington/Strayhorn "Take The 'A' Train," Rodgers and Hart's "My Funny Valentine," plus "Summertime" and "I Loves You Porgy" from Gershwin's folk opera Porgy and Bess.
