Spirited, fun Sweet Adelines quartet Brava!, formed in 1989 in Vancouver, BC, almost immediately became the highest-ranking Canadian quartet ever, placing in the top 10 at International 6 times, grabbing Silver in Portland, Oregon in 2001, and finally winning the coveted Gold in Phoenix in September of 2003. Since then Sandy, Lynn, Elaine and Shannon have been having big fun in concert and recording this excellent studio album (Made in Canada), "Tickled Pink," also an apt description of their feelings about singing together. This vibrant, talented foursome brings us 12 songs, some belters like "All Aboard For Dixieland," "Fly Me to the Moon/East of the Sun" and "Toot, Toot, Tootsie;" and some romantic heart-tuggers like "I Will Love You 'Til the End of Time," "La Vie en Rose," "Sweet Adeline" and "I've Got You Under My Skin." There's some rampant silliness on two Weird Al Yankovic covers, "You Don't Want Me Anymore" and "One More Minute" (called "One More Contest" here), both songs with very funny parody lyrics about group annoyances and getting dumped. We particularly liked the classics, "Without A Song," arranged by our good friend Kirby Shaw, and Billy Joel's timeless "And So It Goes." Well-chosen, beautifully performed stuff by Canada's, and now Sweet Adelines', finest!

Key of She : Our First Time   

Only 15 months old as a group, Key of She's six women singers are anything but shy about jumping into the a cappella scene! "Our First Time" is their self-produced debut, limited-run CD, and if it lacks at all in studio polish, it more than makes it up in spirit and the group's sheer love of singing a cappella together. Recorded in January, 2002 in Sue's Studio,Skillman, New Jersey, this CD is one of the things we most enjoy about a cappella--the fact that Patty, Lisa, Pat, Sue, Dyann & Amy can practice and put a repertoire together, do some gigs, create some fans who ask for a CD to take home, rent some studio time, and produce a very special, beautifully arranged group of songs. Included are Van Morrison's "Moondance," Cole Porter's "I've Got You Under My Skin," Shania Twain's "Honey, I'm Home,"Leon Russell's "This Masquerade," the very funny feminist hymn "Ah! Around the time The King's Singers was starting up, one of the most productive periods of songwriting in history was coming to a close in America, starting with composers such as Gershwin, Kern, Berlin and Porter in the early 1920s, and continuing through to the early 1960s. In this new 2-CD studio recording - featuring brand new a cappella arrangements by jazz composer and arranger Alexander L'Estrange, and swing-orchestra performances with the South Jutland Symphony Orchestra - The King's Singers bring their own unique performance style to this wonderful music.

Brittany, Mia, Caitlin and Stephanie, the artists formerly known as UnderAge, have been working, competing and performing together for six years. As UnderAge they became 2005 International quartet champions for the Sweet Adelines Young Women in Harmony division, which led to guest performances all over the country, sharing the stage with the Kingston Trio, participating in America's Got Talent in both Los Angeles and Las Vegas, and were guest performers in Germany for the Barbershop in Germany festival. They also won the 2009 Harmony Sweeps Bay Area Regional, and took Audience Favorite and 2nd Place at the Sweeps National Finals in San Rafael. Whew! "All You Need is (Love, actually, on the cover, it's a heart symbol)" is their 2nd CD, 12 of the tunes that have been gaining the group a huge following in web portals such as YouTube and Facebook, including our favorites "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Angel of Music" from Phantom of the Opera, which they totally nailed at the Finals. Other favorites are "Come Fly With Me," the very funny "Angry Bill Bailey," "Straighten Up And Fly Right," "Hooked On A Feeling," "No, No, Norman" and "My Foolish Heart." The Notes are beautiful to look at, with wonderful, powerful leads and harmonies, perfect timing and a great sense of humor-what's not to love?

In July 2001, the Pacific Boychoir embarked on an international tour to New Zealand and Australia. This CD contains pieces performed on those programs. Their repertoire includes a variety of challenging music from sacred masterpieces to spirituals to original compositions. Selections include "Nigra Sum," by Pablo Casals, the world premier recording of the "Gloria," by member Gabriel Fanelli as well as several of the "Old American Songs," by Aaron Copland. The choir is led by Kevin Fox and accompanied by Marcia Roy.

Women's Chorus of Dallas : Change of Heart   

Change of Heart" was recorded at Dallas' Meyerson Symphony Center in March, 1997 at the close of TWCD's eighth season, and it is a celebration of love in its many forms. In addition to Dr. Timothy Selig, director, and Anne Albritton, accompanist and composer/arranger, we have guest artist Holly Near. We are given 13 songs here (actually more than that, "Love Is...," for instance is a medley of 8 love songs), all accompanied and beautifully and richly sung by the over 100 TWCD members. As with all TWCD CDs, the liner notes are beautifully done, extensive and touching.
