Songlist: Hooked on a Feeling, Stand by Me, Happy Together, In My Room Various Arrangers : Choral 60's Hits The Mamas & The Papas' hymn to the West Coast state California Dreamin' was actually written in chilly New York City by John and Michelle Phillips before they even formed the band that made them famous. Simon & Garfunkel were New York through and through and Simon's jaunty song about the Queensboro Bridge - aka Feelin' Groovy - uses its local colloquial name. Skeeter Davis, born Mary Frances Penick, was the survivor of a car crash that killed her singing partner Betty Jack Davis. They had enjoyed some success as The Davis Sisters but The End Of The World was the biggest hit of Skeeter's subsequent solo career. In My Room saw The Beach Boys moving indoors from all that sun and sand and recording one of their most reflective and lovely songs. Meanwhile the British invasion was threatening the pop status quo in America and Can't Buy Me Love, from the film Hard Day's Night, gave The Beatles yet another number one in the US charts. Songlist: California Dreamin', Feelin' Groovy, The End of the World, In My Room, Can't Buy Me Love Various Arrangers : Barbershop Beach Boys The sweet harmonies of the Beach Boys are so perfect for close harmony arrangements in the barbershop style. Songlist: Day-O (The Banana Boat Song), Goodnight, Sweetheart, Goodnight, Happy Together, Hello Mary Lou, In My Room, The Longest Time, Silhouettes, Under the Boardwalk The Beach Boys : The Beach Boys Anthology The Beach Boys are an American rock band. Formed in 1961, the group gained popularity for its close vocal harmonies and lyrics reflecting a Southern California youth culture of cars and surfing. Brian Wilson's growing creative ambitions later transformed them into a more artistically innovative group that earned critical praise and influenced many later musicians. Songlist: All Summer Long, Barbara Ann, Be True To Your School, California Girls, Caroline, No, Catch A Wave, Dance, Dance, Dance, Darlin', Do It Again, Do You Want To Dance?, Don't Back Down, Don't Worry Baby, 409, Fun, Fun, Fun, Girls On The Beach, God Only Knows, Good Vibrations, Help Me Rhonda, Heroes And Villains, I Get Around, In My Room, It's OK, Keep An Eye On Summer, Kokomo, Little Deuce Coupe, The Little Girl I Once Knew, Little Honda, Little Saint Nick, Pet Sounds, Please Let Me Wonder, and more Close Harmony For Men : In My Room - Parts CD The 1963 pop hit by the Beach Boys translates beautifully into close harmony style! Songlist: In My Room, Part-predominant CD, Full Performance, Tenor, Lead, Baritone, Bass The Blenders : Totally Whipped Fargo North Dakota is the center of the a cappella universe! Say what? Well it becomes so, at least momentarily, with each new Blenders release. This first release from 1992 introduced a young quartet of men who were bursting with creative energy, musical cleverness, and humor. Mostly we are treated to original work with just 4 covers for those who like to judge talent against the past. Totally Whipped was a great initial release and truly foreshadowed the career which is one of the dynamic successes of the a cappella world. Be prepared to boogie! Songlist: Jump Up, Accidental Lovers, You Can't Do That, In My Room, She Was Mine, Stand By Me, Faith, Drive By, Get Ready, Last Kiss, Together, Mama Knows Best, I Understood (Be Who You Want), Rock Your World, Last Kiss (808 Mix) Dachays : Vintage The male quintet The Dachays (pronounced Da-shays) have Doo-Wop roots going back to the 1960s. Their love of the music and of harmonizing together led them into the studio, and some very fine buttery-harmonied doo-wop was the result. "Lonely Way," "So Fine," "Teardrops," "Our Day Will Come," the classic Brian Wilson anthem "In My Room," "My Girl Friend," "United In Group Harmony," "Zing Went The Strings Of My Heart," "Tonight Medley," "What Time Is It?," and an original by Mike Binder of the group, "The Girl In The Light (Reminds Me Of You). There is some light accompaniment on "Our Day Will Come" and "Girl In The Light," percussion and 12-string guitar by Mike. It's clear these guys have big fun on streetcorners, and we're invited to hang out! Songlist: Lonely Way, So Fine, Teardrops, Our Day Will Come, In My Room, My Girl Friend, United in Group Harmony, Zing! Went the Strings of My New Heart, Tonight Medley, What Time Is It?, The Girl in the Light (Reminds Me of You) OC Times : The Road Pride of Orange County, CA, Lead Sean Devine, formerly of the much-beloved Alley Cats, Tenor Shawn York, Baritone Patrick Claypool and Bass Cory Hunt of OC Times rose quickly in the Barbershop Harmony Society's International Quartet standings, placing 18th in 2004, 5th in 2005, 2nd in 2007 and finally winning Gold in 2008! Since then the group has been touring nationally and internationally extensively, finally pausing long enough in LA's The Greene Room for Marc Greene to work his magic on their aptly-titled third album, "The Road." There are 13 classic, feel-good tunes here, some of our favorites are Fats Domino's soulful hit "I'm Walkin'," Elvis Presley's "Good Luck Charm," Brian Wilson's poignant anthem "In My Room," The Tune Weavers' "Happy Happy Birthday Baby," Bobby Darin's hit "Beyond The Sea," Josh Turner's "Why Don't We Just Dance," Lennon & McCartney's "If I Fell," a sweet "Just My Imagination/My Girl" Medley, and Bob Dylan's "Wagon Wheel." Top-drawer arrangements, pitch-perfect harmonies, unbelievably soaring closing chords - the Times has it all. Want to listen to one of Barbershop's all time best do their stuff? Hit "The Road!" Songlist: I'm Walkin', Good Luck Charm, What's Your Name?, All I Do Is Dream Of You, In My Room, Happy Happy Birthday Baby, Beyond The Sea, What Don't We Just Dance?, If I Fell, Just My Imagination /My Girl, Wagon Wheel, From The First Hello, One More Chance Philharmonix : Lazy Day Rick Serpico, Amy Carr, Donna Perrone and Tom Halley are PhilHarmonix, is a mixed Barbershop/Sweet Adelines quartet founded in 1997. They are winners of the 2000 Buckeye Invitational. Included on the CD are 13 songs. Some of our favorites: the title tune, "Lazy Day," The Beach Boys' "In My Room," Gershwin's "Slap That Bass," Tom Jones' "Soon It's Gonna Rain," Randy Newman's "Dayton, Ohio-1903," and "The Rhythm of Life" by Cy Coleman. Tight harmonies and great tunes add up to a winning CD! Songlist: Lazy Day, Straightened Up and Fly Right, Once in a While, Blue Skies, In My Room, A Whole New World, Puttin' on the Ritz, Soon It's Gonna Rain, Slap that Bass, When the Red, Red, Robin Comes Bob, Bob, Bobbin' Along, Dayton, Ohio -- 1903, This Little Piggy Went to Market, The Rhythm of Life Tuxedo Junction : Tuxedo Junction Even if you don't give a fig about barbershop, you'll find yourself appreciating the warm and heartfelt performance of this foursome from Austin, Texas. Yes, it's four part harmony in the barbershop style, for certain, but their tastes are as sprawling as the great state they call home. Standards are the majority, with special kudos for a standout arrangement of "When I Fall In Love"; the luscious harmonic motion of the coda is pure honey. Other pleasures are "Peg O' My Heart," "It Had To Be You" and their namesake, "Tuxedo Junction," as well as the doo wop favorite, "Silhouettes," Larry Gatlin's "Alleluia," the Beach Boys' "In My Room" and our nomination for the most sylvan of melodies, "Lullaby." Songlist: Tuxedo Junction, Java Jive, It Had To Be You, When I Fall In Love, Jeepers Creepers / Them There Eyes Medley, I Can Dream, Can't I?, Peg O' My Heart, Birth Of The Blues, Midnight Blues, Lida Rose / will I Ever Tell You?, In My Room, Silhouettes, Alleluia, Lullaby Vocal Majority : With Strings Vol 2 Let the Vocal Majority Chorus transport you back to those memorable days of the 60s and 70s in this release. America's Premier Pops Chorus sings the favorites: "What a Wonderful World," "Can't Help Falling In Love," "Unchained Melody," "Can't Smile Without You," "There's a Kind of Hush," and "My Special Angel." Added to these great hits, this recording features "Bridge Over Troubled Water," "You Are So Beautiful," "In My Room," "California Dreamin'," "Long and Winding Road," and "Never My Love." With Jim Clancy's incredible choral arrangements sung by America's Premier Pops Chorus with orchestral accompaniment, this is VM at its best. Songlist: What A Wonderful World, My Special Angel, The Long and Winding Road, California Dreamin', You Are So Beautiful, Can't Help Falling In Love, Never My Love, In My Room, Can't Smile Without You, Unchained Melody, There's A Kind of Hush, Bridge Over Troubled Water Western Wind : My Funny Valentine The Western Wind was formed in 1969 and two of the founders are still singing. Perhaps the longevity of the group is due to the fact that their repertoire includes everything except heavy metal. This particular album includes classic American love songs form 1920 to 1950. The works include songs by Rogers and Hart, George Gershwin, Thelonious Monk, Duke Ellington, Brian Wilson and John Denver. Though mostly jazz, their classical training comes through on "My Funny Valentine," particularly. Two songs, "Oh, Lady Be Good" and "I Got Rhythm"were arranged by Dick Hyman who accompanies the group on piano. The cd notes include biographies of the composers and info about the music. Songlist: I'm Beginning to See the Light, Mood Indigo, Don't Get Around Much Anymore, My Funny Valentine, Oh, Lady Be Good, I Got Rhythm, 'Round Midnight, Well You Needn't, Ruby My Dear, Leaving On A Jet Plane, I Can't Make You Love Me, In My Room, Sh'boom, Life Could Be A Dream Who's Your Daddy! : Who's Your Daddy! "They sing! They rock! They need a nap!" is the teaser for all male a cappella quartet Who's Your Daddy!, and might make you think they're a lightweight garage band; but you'd be mistaken. Freddy, Rick, Adam and Chris have some serious vocal chops, as well as long, extensive credits in the music business, as well as in film and television. This is the debut album for these four dads, and it's got 14 freshly-arranged Rock, Pop and Soul favorites, joyously and powerfully sung. From The Cars' "Let's Go," Stevie Wonder's "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" and "Livin' For The City," to the Sly and the Family Stone's "Hot Fun in the Summertime," Brian Wilson's poignant "In My Room," the Spencer Davis Group's 1967 hit "Gimme Some Lovin'," The Cream's "Sunshine of Your Love" and The Young Rascals' "Groovin'," these are great songs sung by guys who know how to do them justice. Two other favorites are medleys, "Time of the Season" segued with Prince's "When the Doves Cry" and Queen's anthem "Bohemian Rhapsody" segued into Queen's "Somebody to Love." But every cut is a stone, fun winner. Treat yourself to "Who's Your Daddy!" Songlist: Let's Go, Signed Sealed Delivered, Livin' For The City, Fire And Rain, Shining Star, Long Train Runnin', Hot Fun in the Summertime, In My Room, Time of the Season / When Doves Cry, Gimme Some Lovin', Free Falling, Sunshine of Your Love, Groovin', Bohemian Rhapsody / Somebody to Love |
