"Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" appears twice on the album: as the opening track (segueing into "With a Little Help from My Friends"), and as "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)", the penultimate track (segueing into "A Day in the Life"). As the title song, the lyrics introduce the fictional band that performs on the album.
Since its original album release, "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" has also been released on various Beatles singles and compilation albums. The song has also been performed by several other artists, including Jimi Hendrix, U2, and a comic interpretation by Bill Cosby, using the opening to John Philip Sousa's Washington Post March as the instrumental bridge.

Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Alti & Bassi : Medley Alti & Bassi are five debonair-looking, fun-and-Western-music-loving Italian men whose "Medley" is exactly that, a 32-song medley. Or more correctly, a medley comprised of seven medleys, beginning with 8 heavily-accented Disney chestnuts ("Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf," "Heigh Ho," Bibbidi Bobbity Bu" and others); a masterful 4-song Platters medley ("My Prayer," "Sixteen Tons," "Only You" and "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes"); a jazzy "West Side Story" medley ("Maria," "Tonight" and an apropos "America"); an "I Love America" Broadway medley ("Singin' In The Rain," "Cheek To Cheek," "Night and Day" and "New York, New York"); a seven song Beatles medley "A&B Road" ("Abbey Road," get it? It includes "Sgt. Pepper's," "If I Fell," "Norwegian Wood," "Help," "All You Need Is Love" and other favorites); a "Canto Libero" medley of Italian favorites ("Fiori Rosa Fiori Di Pesco," "Il Mio Canto Libero" and "Con Il Nastro Rosa") and finally the "A&B G's" medley (The Bee Gees of course, "(Saturday) Night Fever," "How Deep Is Your Love" and "Stayin' Alive"). These guys have loved and listened to a lot of records, cassette tapes and CDs to sound as much like these groups as they do. We love all this music, too, and Andrea, Alberto, Paolo, Diego and Filippo have the a cappella chops to do it justice. Listen to the yummy bass lead on "Sixteen Tons" (which we seem to remember as a Tennessee Ernie Ford hit, rather than the Platters, but no matter), and to the falsetto lead on "Saturday Night Fever"-these guys may come across as somewhat silly at times (we prefer "fun-loving") but they can really sing, and they give us a sweet taste of 32 wonderful songs here. Which we think you will enjoy, as we did! Songlist: Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf, Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes, Heigh Ho, A Spoonful of Sugar, The Bare Necessities, One Song, Bibbidi Bobbidi Bu, Everybody Wants To Be a Cat, My Prayer, Sixteen Tons, Only You (And You Alone), Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, Maria, Tonight, America, Singin' In The Rain, Cheek to Cheek, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, The Long and Winding Road, If I Fell, Norwegian Wood, All You Need is Love, Help, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Fiori Rosa Fiori Di Pesco, Il Mio Canto Libero, Night Fever, How Deep is Your Love, Stayin' Alive Kickshaw : Superstar Having been introduced to Seattle's Kickshaw in the 1997 Harmony Sweepstakes, we knew this CD was worth our attention, and it has surpassed our expectations. (Seattle's a cappella scene is happening, having also produced m-pact and the Coats). This funky foursome grooves to a dance beat, that's for sure; "Superstar," written by the group, is our favorite, but "Papa Is A Rolling Stone" is a close runner-up. However, Kickshaw throws out several curve balls too - the chant of "Invictus," which reveals a depth and intelligence that goes beyond frilly shirts and disco frivolity. The production is outstanding, some of the best we've heard - "Dance To The Music" a great example, as Kickshaw cops a guitar and drum tone that may even be better than the real thing, and the arrangement is clever. Cool. Songlist: Sound Check, Voice!, Superstar, Invictus, Papa Was A Rolling Stone, Dance To The Music, The Deed, The Party Song, Walkin' Man, My Heart Is For You, Invictus (reprise), Are You Gonna Go My Way, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Overboard : Help! Boston's all-male professional a cappella sextet Overboard put on an incredible show at the Harmony Sweepstakes Finals in San Rafael this month (in fact, it was the strongest field we have ever seen, and a tremendous show!). Group member, arranger, producer and tracker Nick Girard took on the massive task of rearranging 12 of Lennon & McCartney's most beloved hits from "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" and "The White Album," using only vocal percussion and faux instruments (yes, that includes faux harp at the beginning of "She's Leaving Home!). "In My Life," "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," "Taxman" (which segues into "I Saw Her Standing There"), "Something," "She Came in Through the Bathroom Window," "Come Together," "Good Day Sunshine," "When I'm 64," "The Fool on the Hill" - Overboard nails every one of them, seemingly effortlessly. "Help!" is a tour de force, an a cappella masterpiece by a group fast on its way to stardom! Songlist: In My Life, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Taxman, Something, Got to Get You Into My Life, She's Leaving Home, She Came In Through the Bathroom Window, Come Together, Good Day Sunshine, When I'm Sixty-Four, For No One, The Fool On The Hill, Hello Goodbye, I Saw Her Standing There (reprise), The Long and Winding Road, A Day In the Life, Eleanor Rigby, Good Night, Help!, Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight, Getting Better, Get Back, The End/In My Life (reprise) Persuasions : Sing The Beatles Jerry Lawson, Jayotis Washington, Ray Sanders and Jim Hayes are the legendary Persuasions, and this is 14 of the Fab Four's most popular tunes, done as soulful a cappella doo-wop. The cover is a dramatic and somewhat ironic photo of a crowd of frenzied, screaming white English girls being held back by a wavering line of English bobbies-ironic because of the different receptions and rewards given to contemporary musicians, the veteran Persuasions and the young, white Beatles, both lovers of the same soulful black American R&B. The Persuasions survived, though, to become fathers of a burgeoning a cappella movement, and to bring us another juicy, deep-bassed doo-wop classic. 'Eight Days A Week,' 'Oh! Darling,' 'Come Together,' 'Rocky Raccoon,' 'Octopus's Garden,' 'Love Me Do,' 'With A Little Help From My Friends,' 'From Me To You,' 'Yesterday,' 'Ob La Di, Ob La Da,' 'Don't Let Me Down,' 'The Ballad Of John and Yoko,' 'Imagine' and 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.' This is the real 'Rubber Soul!' Songlist: Eight Days A Week, Oh! Darling, Come Together, Rocky Raccoon, Octopus's Garden, Love Me Do, With A Little Help From My Friends, From Me To You, Yesterday, Ob La Di, Ob La Da, Don't Let Me Down, The Ballad Of John And Yoko, Imagine, Sgt.
