During that Christmas season, his son was critically wounded in a war, and the text expresses his anguish over war and his longing for peace on earth. Mary Goetze's arrangement of 'Wexford Carol' (from Ireland) has exquisite 3 part harmonies and gives that special voice in your choir the opportunity for an 8 measure solo.
