Review: "Feel the Earth Move" is one of rock's most iconic women's songs (from Carole King's Tapestry), this pulsing, rhythmic arrangement incorporates elements of doo-wop and contemporary a cappella beneath a barn-burning solo. Vocal or other percussion optional. The Beatles greatest modern folk/pop song "Blackbird" is finally available for SSA groups, with the melody moving between vocal parts and interspersed elements of counterpoint and 3-part harmony. The number #1 song from the Footloose soundtrack "Holding Out For A Hero", sung by Bonnie Tyler, was one of the biggest songs of the 1980s. Bombastic and fun, it's a great feature for a female soloist, and makes a great show closer or encore. he Andrew Sisters had a hit in 1947 with the lighthearted, playful ditty "Too Fat Polka" that's more relevant now than ever!

Review: Deke Sharon has become one of the leading arranger of "contemporary" a cappella and here is a fine collection of classic pop songs. "Dancing Queen" - ABBA is back, so get some dancing shoes for your choir! Upbeat, infectious and fun, this arrangement will bring energy to singers and get audiences dancing in the aisles. "Killing Me Softly With His Song" was popularized by Roberta Flack in the 1970s, updated by the Fugees and Lauryn Hill in the 90s, this song connects with many generations. This arrangement provides a terrific vehicle to show off the talents of a sensitive female soloist. The modern day classic "True Colors" has been a huge hit for both Cyndi Lauper and Phil Collins. Review: "Fields of Gold" - If it wasn't written by Sting, this haunting melody could easily be a traditional English fold song. The melody moves through all four women's parts, with the background texture changing in each verse, ranging from arpeggiated polyphony to warm close harmony. "Here Comes the Sun" - Perfect for a spring concert, this bright Beatles classic features rich harmonies and light arpeggiated textures resulting in a warm sound without being too complex. The melody is in the Soprano 1 line, allowing either a group or individual solo. "Mama I'm A Big Girl Now" - This playful song from Hairspray brings the sound of the early 1960's to life with a universal theme. The many verses can be sung by different soloists. "Songbird" - Based on the Eva Cassidy recording, this honest, emotional ballad features light arpeggiated textures and soaring harmonies supporting a gorgeous, heartfelt soprano melody with occasional duet/trio lines.
