The piece opens with a sparkling soprano motif, joined quickly by the other voices in rhythmic and fragmented repetition of the word alleluia, representing an enthusiastic outpuring of joy. The music alternates between 10/8 and 7/8, maintaining a feeling of spontaneity and exuberance.

The Vancouver Youth Choir, directed by Carrie Tennant, was a sensation at the ACDA National Conference in Kansas City. Carrie is known for her creative and outside the box programming. This Iranian Folk Song, arranged by husband and wife musicians Amy Stephen and Amir Haghighi draws on the diverse ethnic population of this rich musical heritage. The original Farsi language (also known as Persian) is used here. An easy to understand pronunciation guide is included with the music and an audio recording is provided on line so director and students can hear the text spoken.
