Panofka was one of the great 19th century voice teachers. His background as a violinist and composer greatly informed these athletic bel canto vocalise compositions. Op. 81 is for Alto, Baritone, or Bass.

"Cowboy Song" is a contemporary art song for baritone voice and piano. Within the score, there are many different musical cues for the singer to suggest different acting choices. For example, triplet figures are used as a motive for the cowboy, and staccato figures are used on the line, "O the townsfolk talk to see me walk six inches off the ground." Only nine pages, this song just "rolls along."

This series now has a new "Part II" for each voice type, at the same level as the original volumes. Composed as a commemorative work exploring themes of loss, particularly remembering the children who perished in the Aberfan tragedy in 1966 which buried a school full of children. Eight Love Songs for High Baritone Voice, Violin, Violoncello, and Piano, formerly known as Love Songs, contains eight contrasting love songs. Commissioned in 2010 by MusicFestVancouver for renowned Canadian baritone, Tyler Duncan, and Australia's pre-eminent chamber music ensemble Freshwater Trio. The set of eight songs is the result of ongoing collaborations between lyricist, Tara Wohlberg, and composer, Stephen Chatman. The lyrics, full of inner rhymes and wit, explore far ranging aspects of love, such as unexpected encounters, tenderness, Schubert and his song Gretchen am Spinnrade, dreams, dating, some Hanky-panky, and the wrong and right moves of Mr. Smooth. The contrasting musical settings typify Chatman's eclectic panoply of classical and popular musical styles, from Ragtime and Tango to Neo-Romanticism. Total Duration: 19:30

The fourteen songs in this volume were composed between 2002 and 2009. A set of six, America 1968, represent poet Robert Hayden's view of our country during a volatile time.
