Golden Staters

Tenor Gary Harding, his brother Jack Harding, Baritone, Milt Christensen, lead, and the inimitable Mike Senter, bass, The Golden Staters; won the Gold medal in Atlanta in July, 1972. GS' road to the top included 4th place in Chicago in 1966, fifth in 1967, third in 1968, and a Silver Medal in St. Louis in 1969. An injury to their lead kept them out of competition in 1970, another third in 1971, then finally the gold. 25 classic barbershop songs fill this delightful cd, some of our favorites are, 'Jean,' 'Draft Dodger Rag,' 'Mary Poppins Medley,' 'Hello, Dolly,' and 'Give My Regards To Broadway.' All good stuff, and frankly, it's impossible to listen to this CD and be in a bad mood!

Good News Quartet

Two-time gold medal winner Mo Rector of San Antonio, Texas, formed the Good News! quartet. The need and the ministry was simple: to make available good, simple, natural, four part a cappella arrangements of Christian hymns and gospel songs, and to help them learn the music by producing cassette learning tapes.

So, in 1985 Mo gathered three other international quartet champion singers and they began singing God's praises. Since then the Good News! has been hosting a Gospel Sing-a-long every year at the annual Barbershop Convention in cities all across the United States and Canada. They began with 150 singers in Hartford, CT., and it has grown to over 1500 enthusiastic singers last year in Salt Lake City, UT. Mo was replaced by Jim Foy as the bass in 1992. The Good News! has produced five recordings containing sixty-two of the world's favorite spiritual songs, all done in the barbershop style. They are now working on their sixth album.

Gotcha!

At an afterglow in September of 1996, four members of the Masters Of Harmony decided to sing a song. Three hours later, they had exhausted the entire repertoire from three choruses and a few international championship quartets! In short order, Gotcha! was born.

The quartet spent 1997 moving through the competition ranks, including sweeping the grand championship at the buckeye invitational. Riding high from first year successes, Gotcha! qualified for their first International Quartet contest in 1998 in Atlanta , with a 20th place finish. With renewed confidence, the quartet focused on the 1998 Far Western District contest in Phoenix, and came home with a championship trophy.

Grandma's Boys

In the summer of 1968 a high school quartet from Quincy, IL rode a Greyhound bus to Cincinnati, checked into the "Y," sat in the back row at the international contest and listened in awe as quartets like the Western Continentals, Mark IV, and Golden Staters won the top medals. They had recently named the quartet, and 11 years later, when three of the original four ran onstage in Minneapolis to claim their own gold medals, it still bore the name Grandma's Boys. Jay Giallombardo (bari), Hank Brandt (lead), John Miller (bass), and Jeff Calhoun (tenor) were singing in three different high school quartets when they first got together in the spring of 1968. Their determination to stick together was rigorously tested over the next few years. After only a few weeks of rehearsals with a new tenor, Grandma's Boys placed sixth in the next year's contest. The combination proved the right one, however; in 1978 the quartet won the silver medals, and in '79 they walked offstage with the Landino Trophy.

Great British Barbershop Boys

Barbershop Quartetting, quite possibly the earliest form of boy band music, is making a come back, and four young men who go by the name The Great British Barbershop Boys are leading the way.

Alan Hughes (tenor), Zac Booles (lead), Joe Knight (baritone) and Duncan Blackeby (bass) were originally members of the National Barbershop Youth Chorus but they decided to branch out and sing a few numbers as a quartet. Within nine months of the quartet forming, the boys were made British Quartet champions, and by October 2008 they also added the inaugural British Collegiate Quartet title to their ever-growing list of accomplishments.

Great Northern Union Chorus

The Great Northern Union is a premier a cappella male chorus in the upper Midwest region dedicated to the performance, education, promotion, encouragement and preservation of high quality vocal music, primarily in the barbershop style.

The Great Northern Union (GNU) was founded in 1985 with the goal of becoming one of the nation's best men's choruses. Since its inception the organization has entertained thousands with high-energy performances, appealing collaborations, and consistent achievement both regionally and nationally.

85 members strong, the GNU is an auditioned men's a cappella chorus based out of the Minneapolis/St. Paul area but includes members from the upper-Midwest region including Wisconsin, Iowa and North Dakota. While our roots originate in barbershop harmony, the GNU bridges music genres that include gospel, pop, jazz, classical, and modern a cappella.

Growing Girls

Growing Girls formed on January 5th, 1979 in Ronninge, Sweden. All four girls were 11 years old at the time, hence the name Growing Girls. Anna's & Malin's mothers sang together in a quartet called "The Beautiful Screamers" and the young daughters thought it would be fun to start a quartet of their own. They asked their respective classmates, Naima & Suzanne if they would be interested in singing in a Barbershop quartet. Naima & Suzanne immediately replied: "Sure, but... what's Barbershop?" Anna's mother, Britt-Helene Bonnedahl, Master director of International medalist chorus Ronninge Show Chorus, became the quartet's coach and mentor. Since the girls started they have performed all over Sweden and the US, as well as in Germany and New Zealand. They all attended Adolf Fredriks Musikskola, a school for performing arts in Stockholm, and were encouraged by their music teacher, Bo Aurehl. In 1983 Britt-Helene started the Ronninge Show Chorus, and Growing Girls were welcome to join Sweet Adelines International at 14 (finally!), with sponsors. The quartet competed and won in the Area (Regional) contests in 1985, 1986 and 1988, and went on to compete at the International contest in Houston in 1988, to reach their dream of becoming Queens of Harmony, in Miami Beach in 1989.

Happiness Emporium

The Happiness Emporium, 1975 International quartet champions, is living proof that experience pays off. The "Emporium" members averaged 37 years of age when they won gold medals. Their collective experience, even before they came together for the first time in 1972, included participation in 24 international contests and with three district champion quartets, plus four USO tours to the Pacific.

Seven months after formation they placed 24th at the contest in Portland. The next year they were 9th, and in Indianapolis in 1975 they leaped to the gold. When Bob Spong retired from the quartet in 1983, Dick Treptow sang with them until 1987, and then Rick Andersonreplaced Dick on bari.

Harbor City Music Company Show Chorus

As a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, competition keeps our skills at top level. This dynamic group of women recently won the Division AA (Mid-Sized) Gold Medal AND the Audience Favorite award at the 2010 Harmony Classic Competition, held during the Sweet Adelines International Convention in Seattle WA this past October. Still basking in their victory, they are currently preparing to compete in the main event at the 2011 SAI convention in Houston, TX.

While there are more than two dozen choruses in the Atlantic-Bay-Mountain Region of Sweet Adelines International, the Harbor City Music Company Show Chorus strives to set itself apart through its attention to musicality, creativity, and artistry. Thanks to Michael's amazing arrangements, our repertoire goes far beyond traditional barbershop, encompassing everything from Broadway to the Beatles and Billy Joel. When last asked, Michael calculates that he has arranged nearly 30 different songs for the chorus, and is always considering new melodies to add to the repertoire.

Harborlites

Based in Anaheim, California, the Harborlites Chorus was founded in 1960 as a chapter of Sweet Adelines International to encourage and promote barbershop singing for women. In the ensuing decades, Harborlites has grown both in numbers and in recognition, winning both regional championships and international medals, with our performances incorporating fine singing along with innovative choreography and our trademark: energy!

Heart of Texas Chorus

The Heart Of Texas Chorus is the performing chorus of the Central Texas Corridor Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, the largest all-male singing organization in the world. In addition to more than 30,000 members in more than 800 chapters in the United States and Canada, there are affiliated organizations in: Australia, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, Sweden, The Netherlands, Great Britain. There are also barbershop singers in Denmark, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and parts of the former Soviet Union. The Central Texas Corridor Chapter is one of approximately 50 chapters in the five-state Southwestern District of the Barbershop Harmony Society.

Hi-Fidelity

Hi-Fidelity is considered to be one of the top a cappella show quartets in the country with a locked sound, creative packages and an extremely unique sense of humor (perhaps twisted?). Hi-Fidelity is the current Champions of the Barbershop Harmony Society's Far Western District. They have also taken top honors at another national "mixed" a cappella contest in 2002 when they were crowned the Buckeye Invitational Grand Quartet Champions. Their CD, "Almost Live" has been a big hit, and one cut (Blackbird Parody) was nominated for a CASA award in 2005. You may have seen them in some commercials too! Either as the Roto-Rooter plumbers or promoting the popular X-Box game "Tao Feng, Fist of the Lotus" (a very "painful" commercial - Check it out at www.hifidelityquartet.com). The guys are also members of the current International chorus champions, Masters of Harmony.

Hot Air Buffoons

The Hot Air Buffoons first weighed in back in 1996. They set out on a quest to sing theyll and entertain our audiences in a fashion they have never seen before. They soon surprised themselves and others by not only making people laugh but by progressing in the competition realm as well. They excelled in a competition that was made for them and took home gold medals and a pretty large trophy (which signifies 1st place) in the 2001 internationally renowned Buckeye Invitational Comedy Quartet Competition in Columbus, Ohio. Try saying that 5 times real fast. They have continued in the competition realm and are now the 2005 Johnny Appleseed District Champions. They have also competed internationally and are ranked as one of the top twenty quartets in the world (16th to be exact).

Hot Shots

HotShots has been entertaining audiences with their unique comedic style since January of 2004. Described as a combination of The Rat Pack meets the Marx Brothers, the quartet is always surprising audiences with something new and unexpected. The South Florida-based foursome has been invited to perform at corporate events, private functions, weddings, collegiate outreach festivals, Barbershop Harmony Society conventions and international vocal competitions. They have done everything from warming up the audience from center court at the USTA Davis Cup tennis tournament, to a command performance for the Governor of Utah, and of course, crooning some good-ole barbershop in front of their hometown crowd.

Houston Tidelanders

The Houston Tidelanders Chorus is the performing chorus of the 30,000-man Barbershop Harmony Society's Houston Chapter. We are an a cappella, i.e. unaccompanied, men's singing organization comprised of quartets and our large performing chorus. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, chartered in 1946. There are more than 825 BHS chapters in the United States alone and our peers consistently rank us among the Top 20 performing choruses at the Society's International Chorus Competition.

While attempting to preserve the Barbershop harmony style, which, like jazz, is a musical form unique to the United States, we recognize the importance of broadening our audience appeal so that we are more than a niche performing arts group. We don't merely sing those old "chestnuts" from the early 1900's, beautiful though they may have been. Instead, we perform recognizable pop tunes, Broadway show music, country and western or Gospel songs, which are far more contemporary but which we sing in the Barbershop style, none-the-less.

Ignition!

Ignition! was formed in February 2004. Despite a couple of personnel changes, Ignition! has stayed together. In the summer of 2005, Ignition! added Dan Testa as the new Tenor and recently added Matt Swann as the new Baritone. Ignition! has been fortunate to perform several shows and travel to many places thus far...and hope to do a lot more of it in the future! They made their contest debut in April 2004 after just a few weeks of rehearsal; the quartet was a few points away from a wild card invitation to the 2004 International contest. The following fall Ignition! placed 2nd in the Rocky Mountain District contest. The quartet posted a qualifying score for the 2005 international contest in Salt Lake City, but due to personnel changes were unable to compete. Ignition! became RMD champions in October of 2005, and placed 21st at the 2006 international contest in Indianapolis. In 2007 in Denver the quartet rose significantly in the rankings and finished in 12th place at International.

Innsiders

As the 1976 SPEBSQSA International Champions, The Innsiders climaxed a storied career which included several top 10 finishes in the competition. This quartet's love of singing and their steadfast devotion to their art along with a strong work ethic and lots of talent took them to greatness. This compilation of their master works has been released under the watchful eyes of former member Brian Beck, so you are sure to hear the best that The Innsiders had to offer. Some of our favorite songs include 'Bridge Over Troubled Water,' 'Ghost Riders In The Sky,' and 'Till We Meet Again.'

Interstate Rivals

1987 International Champions, the Rivals placed sixth in 1984, third in '85, and moved to second before topping the charts, so to speak. That they were the second youngest quartet ever to win the championship would seem to imply a lack of experience, but when they won they had 45 years barbershop singing among the four. Each of the Interstate Rivals went on to win another quartet championship, Joe Connelly with Keepsake in l992, Kip Buckner with the Gas House Gang in 1993, while Jay Hawkins and Paul Gilman were half of the 1995 Champions, Marquis. What a history! In their selection of a dozen songs they stick to beautiful barbershop singing only hamming it up a bit on 'Cecilia.'

Jackpot!

Kay, Gina, Joanie and Jan - Winter Park, Florida's Jackpot! Quartet, has been together for over 6 years now and are the 2009 Sweet Adelines International 2nd place finalists. These 12 rock-solid Sweet Adelines standards show us what was clear to the judges this quartet has big voices, big harmonies and the kind of wonderful, ringing chords rarely heard in a Sweet Adelines group. Favorites are 'Taking a Chance on Love,' 'Unforgettable,' 'For Once in My Life,' 'Almost Like Being in Love,' 'Easy Street,' 'Money Medley,' 'I'll Take Romance' and 'How Deep is the Ocean.' The debut CD 'Can You Hear Me Now' has the good stuff, certainly one of the best Sweet Adelines recordings we've heard in a long time, by one of Sweet Adelines' top quartets!

Joker's Wild

Consider a deck of cards for a moment... The Ace is always the best, followed by the King and so on down the line. But when it comes to Barbershop Quartets, it's possible to be an Ace and King at the same time! How, you say? Simple. You just apply the card that can make anything happen... the Joker!

Joker's Wild was formed in August of 1990 when the original four members met informally at the Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio and harmonized together. The sound and enthusiasm of the evening convinced them to form a quartet to showcase their natural blend.

Kansas City Chorus

We are a fun loving group of over 100 women who gather each Monday evening to sing and learn the musical art form of barbershop harmony. Made up of women of all ages and backgrounds, during the day we are mothers, nurses, business professionals, teachers, bus drivers, etc. But on Monday evenings we're just "us" having a great time preparing for shows, competitions, and performances when we become "stars"!!

Since our first meeting in 1945, the Kansas City Chorus has had a long tradition of striving for excellence in the craft of barbershop-style singing. We have the distinction of being the second oldest chapter in the International organization and of being the Champions of the very first Regional Competition held in Topeka, Kansas in 1952. For many years after that, winning a first place medal eluded the chorus. But in 1980, a new era began: Jo Kraut became director of the chorus, and since that time, the chorus has grown both musically and numerically! After Jo's retirement in 2008, Stacy Schumacher was chosen as the Kansas City Chorus Director. Under Stacy's direction, the chorus is continuing our quest for success.

Keepsake

Hailing from Florida, the much-acclaimed Keepsake are an exciting addition to our catalog. They have dedicated this recording to Charles "Bub" Thomas of Walt Disney World's "Dapper Dans," and a marvelous tribute it is. Winners of the 1992 Quartet Championships, the group's stellar sound is sublime. The group's use of dynamics, the arrangements (by a who's-who of arranging talent) and their choice of material-most impressive all. Their exquisite "Lost In the Stars" (written by Kurt Weill and Maxwell Anderson) is a fondant of perfect notes. "Blue Velvet" is similarly rendered and has a signature coda; speaking of which, the ending of "How Deep Is the Ocean" is a show-stopper. The traditional barbershop fare, including "Make 'Em Laugh," "I Love a Piano" and "The Entertainer," is of course flawless. Don't miss this one!

LoveNotes Quartet

LoveNotes formed in 2002 and have since been competing, performing, and teaching all over the world. They competed in the Harmony Sweepstakes a cappella competition in 2009 at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco where they won 1st place and also received the award for Best Original Arrangement for Bohemian Rhapsody. They went on to compete at the Harmony Sweepstakes Nationals where they placed 2nd while also winning the Audience Favorite award.

In the Fall of 2013, LoveNotes was crowned International Quartet Champions at the Sweet Adelines International Quartet Competition in Honolulu, Hawaii. They were also chosen as winners of the Celebrity Award by Neyla Pekarek of The Lumineers. They have released five CDs throughout their quartet career.

Lustre

Lustre is a lovely award winning quartet out of the Baltimore area. Lustre's musical adventures began in 2005, and what a journey it has been! Kate, Lori, Lori, and Jenny met through Harbor City Music Company Show Chorus, and have been ringing chords together ever since. They have wowed their audiences at performances and contests around the country, from shows in Maryland, DC, and Pennsylvania to international competitions in Houston and Denver. You may even have seen them singing at a Baltimore Orioles game or two! Lustre is proud to be the 2013 Sweet Adeline's International 7th Place Quartet Finalist.

Mark IV

Many personnel changes, some of them brought about by Uncle Sam, brought together the talented foursome that won the Gold in St. Louis in 1969. Mo Rector, fine bass of the '58 champs, the Gaynotes, baritone Dale Deiser, lead Alan Koberstein, and tenor Franklin Spears were years ahead of their time in finesse, warm rich sound, and overall musicianship. They only stayed together until 1974, pleasing audiences with their music and gracious personalities; but we are left with this masterpiece cd. Pure entertainment, from 'Anything Goes' and 'Daddy Sang Bass,' to 'Every Step Of The Way' and 'If You Love Me, Really Love Me.' 22 songs in all, a generous helping of the stuff barbershop is made of, the top of the Mark!

Marquis

From their inception in August 1993, the members of Marquis were committed to excellence in music and sharing the love of that music with their audience, while enjoying the friendship formed within the quartet and their families. This commitment enabled Randy, Jay, Dale, and Paul to take only twenty three months to win the gold medal at the 1995 International Barbershop Convention in Miami Beach. With their victory, the individual members f Marquis have accumulated twenty four appearances in international barbershop competition resulting in seventeen top five medals. Jay and Paul earned their second gold having previously won in 1987 with the Interstate Rivals.

Martini Quartet

Martini Quartet formed in July 2007 over a round of cosmopolitans at Sandy Marron's home in Tacoma, Washington. Singers Sandy Marron (tenor), Lisa Myers (lead), Shannon Harris (bass) and DeAnne Haugen (bari) knew right from the beginning that they had a special blend! Yet this Martini has been shaken AND stirred not just once, but three times during the group's four year journey to become Sweet Adelines International's 2012 International Quartet Champions!

Masterpiece

Masterpiece... a supreme artistic achievement; sometimes the work of one, sometimes a collaboration of many. In the world of vocal music, it is the marriage of multiple efforts to seamlessly become one. Rob, Patrick, Alan, and Brett have enjoyed success in various groups over their varied musical histories, and have finally come together to share a unique sound and experience with their audience.

Masters of Harmony

Since 1985, the Masters of Harmony chorus has risen to the highest levels of choral singing and has gained an international reputation for its mastery of technically demanding close harmony in the a cappella style. Under the direction of Mark Hale, the internationally acclaimed men's chorus has a dynamic repertoire that encompasses music from the classics to jazz, patriotic to sacred, rounded out with standards and Broadway pops. The musical magic and performance artistry rendered by more than 100 singers elicit standing ovations at every concert. No one is left untouched when the Masters of Harmony performs.

The Masters of Harmony was founded in 1985 and chartered as the Foothill Cities, California Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. In December of 1987 we moved to the City of Santa Fe Springs and commenced a relationship with the city government and the community that has continued to blossom and thrive. Our purpose was, and still is, to pursue musical excellence, with every member expected to be an active participant in the chorus and its related activities.

MatriX

The formation of MatriX in the spring of 2001 combined three seasoned veterans: Paul Gilman, (baritone with the international champs, Interstate Rivals and Marquis); Dale Fetick (tenor with the international champs Marquis); and Mark Green (lead with International champs Jokers Wild) with a newcomer Brian O'Dell on bass. MatriX successfully entered into barbershop competition by capturing the Johnny Appleseed District championship in October 2001. The quartet went on to place 19th at the International barbershop convention in 2002.

2003 brought on a change in the direction of MatriX and an even bigger newcomer in lead Jeff Wallace. With that formation in November of 2002, the group went on to place 12th in the 2003 Montreal international competition and 9th in the 2006 Indianapolis event. You will enjoy the nice rich and exciting sound of MatriX and their mix of old and new music that will have you sitting back in your seat reflecting and at the same time wondering what is to come.

Max Q

Why the name Max Q? During the launch of space vehicles, the launch crew can be heard talking about "passing max q". That is the point where the combination of increasing speed and decreasing density is maximum. Vehicles are designed to withstand only a certain Maximum Q before they will suffer structural damage. When Max Q takes the stage, you will discover a new kind of increasing speed of sound and reduced vocal density that creates their own kind of structural damage. A barbershop super quartet!!

MAXX Factor

MAXX Factor was formed in 2004. This current foursome has been singing together since August 2007. Lead Leslie Wodday became a Queen of Harmony in 2000 with Signature Sound Quartet. She joined MAXX in August of 2007. Founder Valerie Hadfield-Rasnake is a barbershop brat. She sang with Region 19 medalist Quartets Ritz Carleton and Vanity Fair. Co-founder Baritone Kim Hudson, also a barbershop brat, has sung with Region 19 medalist quartet Vanity Fair. Prior to joining MAXX in 2005, Tenor Molly Plummer sang with Region 19 multi-medalist quartet RhythmWorks. Molly and Valerie are members of the International medalist chorus Pride of Baltimore. Kim and Leslie, currently Chapter-at-Large, have competed internationally with the Pride of Baltimore chorus.

Melodeers

The Melodeers Chorus is one of over 700 choruses of Sweet Adelines International, a worldwide, non-profit organization dedicated to women's four-part a capella, barbershop style harmony. Under the leadership of Master Director 700, Jim Arns and Choreographer, Renee Porzel, the Melodeers have earned five international gold medals. Their trademark is a combination of an exemplary musical product, crowd-pleasing choreography and stunning, innovative costuming. The Melodeers marvelous sense of humor and 'Pushing the Envelope' style keeps audiences laughing and crying from coast to coast.

Metropolis

Formed in February of 1994, Metropolis has come to the attention of national television audiences within the past few years, beginning with their appearance on the pilot episode of Four Floor Show on E! Entertainment Television in June 1995 and the filming of a national Dr. Pepper commercial later that same year. They continue to make appearances in various media, most recently singing jingles for radio commercials and having appeared in the limited release film entitled "Pacino is Missing." The members of Metropolis have performed in a cappella groups on national and local television, film, radio, and in 28 different states and provinces including Florida, Michigan Minnesota, Hawaii, Alberta, Ontario, California, Arizona, and Nevada. They have competed in numerous different vocal styles encompassing Jazz, Doo-Wop, Broadway, R&B, Dixieland, Madrigal, and Opera.

Michigan Jake

In 1983 Mark Hale and Greg Hollander joined the Barbershop Harmony Society. They quickly became friends and started singing in a quartet together within two months. This quartet, the Sound System, started with Mark on tenor and Greg on Baritone, but soon Greg moved to Bass and Mark moved to Baritone. Along with Phil Kinser, lead, and Mike Wheeley, tenor, they sang together for about five years, winning a district championship and competing at the International Competition in 1988. They retired in 1990.

Mid States Four

A quartet was organized by four employees at the Bell & Howell Company. Marty Mendro, lead; Forrest Haynes, baritone; and Bob Corbett, bass. Haynes had been a member of a quartet that was one of the last to appear on the Keith road show circuit on stage and radio. Mendro, a soloist in church choirs during his younger years, was introduced to barbershop harmony at Bell & Howell during World War II. The foursome became 6th place international finalists in 1945 and 1946 and were Illinois District champions in 1946.When three of the quartet members left Bell & Howell, the group changed its name to the Mid-States Four. The president of the Mid States Insurance Company had taken an interest in the quartet and offered to sponsor them, providing uniforms and expenses in return for jobs done for his firm if they would use the corporate name.

Midwest Vocal Express

Founded in 1989, Midwest Vocal Express (MVE) male a cappella chorus specializes in "Storytelling through Song," performing Traditional barbershop favorites, Show tunes, Spirituals and Popular music

Headquartered in Greendale, WI, and made up of singers from across Southeast Wisconsin, MVE is known locally for the best in family entertainment, and worldwide for their "legendary" theatrical presentations on the Barbershop Harmony Society's International Contest Stage.

Mission Valley Chorus

Mission Valley Chorus is a group of women singers with a rich history spanning over 60 years of history as a chapter of Sweet Adelines International Region 12. Our dedication to harmony, and to our Director Angela Suraci, and to each other shapes the chorus as we make music together. We love to learn, sing, compete, and perform our four-part a cappella harmony, and we love to do all those things while having fun!

Seven has to be the lucky number of the Most Happy Fellows, who were crowned international quartet champions in Philadelphia in 1977, one of only 18 quartets who won the gold the first time they medalled in international competition. This edition of the quartet was seven months old; baritone Jack Lyon had only joined in January. In the three previous years, the "Haps" placed 21st, 14th, and 7th, all numbers divisible by 7. On the 7th day of the 7th month of the 77th year, they were the 7th contestant to appear in the finals - and won the gold. The plane that had brought them to Philadelphia was - what else - a 747.

Moxie Ladies

Moxie Ladies is a champion Sweet Adeline quartet that's been delighting audiences all over North America, and they're delighted to have the opportunity to sing for you today. The quartet represents two regions: Region 17 and Region 4, and they've won those regional quartet contests respectively. They've qualified to compete at the Sweet Adelines International Competition with other quartets throughout the world for the last three years. In October, 2007 they were elated and honored to be named the 4th Place International Medalists and in 2009 they were crowned Queens of Harmony.

Their journey together began back in January, 2005 when they met for the first time with this foursome. Jennifer and Amy, who are both music educators, began their barbershop quarteting careers in Distinction and won their first regional competition together just one year after joining the hobby! Gretchen and Stacey, who are both in advertising sales, are second-generation barbershoppers and sang previously together in Success Express, two-time International Top Ten Quartet Finalists.

Ms Behavin'

As the name implies, Ms. Behavin' is a sassy group of gals that make the most of life and four-part harmony. They refuse to mention their years of experience -- you might figure out their ages! Their mission is to make you laugh, cry, sigh, cheer, and then go shopping. Top 10 finalists in Phoenix 2003.

Musical Island Boys

The Musical Island Boys from Wellington have continued to prove themselves among the best male barbershop quartets in New Zealand and the world. Originally from Tawa College, the Musical Island Boys have gone from strength to strength over time, and continue to strive to perfect the craft of a cappella singing in the barbershop style. In 2002 AND 2003, they won the New Zealand Secondary Schools Young Men In Harmony competition. In 2003 they also placed third and received bronze medals at the New Zealand Open Mens' Competition in Hamilton. That year they placed second and received silver medals at the 7th Wellington Open Compeition, placing behind the National Champion Sweet Adelines Quartet Fourth Avenue.

My Three Sons

In 2003, a father and his three sons made barbershop quartet singing history when they became Florida statewide champions. They are the first father and (3) son group to do so since the Barbershop Harmony Society was founded in 1938. The quartet, appropriately named My Three Sons, was formed in 1998 in Sarasota, and to everyone's amazement, became the 1998 statewide Novice Quartet Champions with a 10 year old Lead and a 9 year old Tenor.

Nashville Singers

Nashville Singers celebrates the power of the human voice to entertain, educate, unite, uplift, enrich, and inspire, by performing an ever-widening repertoire of choral music at the highest artistic level, for a broad community of audiences.

With a chorus membership of about a dozen active singers and a repertoire that spans a wide range of musical genres, Nashville Singers can meet a variety of your performance and entertainment needs. The chorus can provide entertainment for music festivals, corporate and special events, awards nights, banquets, community events, conventions, fundraisers, grand openings, retirement parties, trade shows, sporting events, cruise ships, holiday celebrations and parties, wedding ceremonies and receptions, church services, funerals, nursing and retirement homes, and family happenings, including anniversary parties, and birthday parties.

New Tradition Chorus

The New Tradition Chorus is the chapter chorus of the Northbrook Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. We are a charitable, non-profit organization based in the northern suburbs of Chicago, IL. We provide access to the arts and musical education to both our members and our community.

We typically stage several holiday shows with a variety of Christmas and Channukah selections during the first weekend of December. We also put on a several shows during the spring with a new theme each year. Past shows have include Broadway selections, 40's music, 50's music, Americana, and much more.

New Tradition Quartet

The New Tradition (TNT) was formed in December of 1983. The quartet is comprised of John Sherburn (tenor) formerly of the Crown City Good Time Music Company, Dan Jordan (lead) formerly of the Grand Tradition, 3-time international medalists), Bob Gray Jr (baritone) formerly of the Grand Tradition, and John Miller (bass) formerly of the 1979 International Champion quartet, Grandma's Boys. The quartet placed 7th in their first trip to the international stage in 1984, won the Far Western District Championship in the fall of 1984, captured the FWD International Prelims Champion title in March of 1985 and went on to win the coveted Gold Medal in July of 1985...19 months after forming.

Nexus Quartet

Nexus' definition in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary is an accurate depiction of this quartet's blending of voices and personalities. Comprised of life long musicians, NeXus continues to grow in popularity in the Barbershop Harmony Society and throughout the country. Initially Novice Champions in 2003, Rocky Mountain District Champions in 2004, International competitor in 2005 & 2006, this group is delighted to be out and about performing throughout the country! With their smooth blend, ringing chords and fun personalities, the energetic group stages one of the most entertaining shows available today.

Nightlife

Nightlife, from Southern California, is only the second quartet in barbershop singing history to win gold medals as both international quartet champions and as members of the winning barbershop chorus on the same day! Nightlife first got together in November 1990, and in the International competitions that followed, the quartet quickly achieved success, winning two bronze medals and a silver. But, in July 1996, Nightlife reached the pinnacle of success by being declared the new International Quartet Champion! Nightlife is: Tenor, Rob Menaker; Lead, John Sasine; Baritone, Jeff Baker, and Bass, Brett Littlefield Nightlife has performed around the throughout the country, and has sung for such celebrities as Dick Van Dyke, Bill Hanna of Hanna-Barbera, Ted Turner, and Jane Fonda. The quartet has appeared on all three major networks.

North Metro Chorus

North Metro received their charter in 1967, Canada's Centennial year. As with many choruses, they started out in the basement of one of the founding members and growth and progress took time. When June Dale arrived on the North Metro scene in 1972, they were a small chorus with just 17 members. Under her direction and leadership, membership increased and Regional Championships became a reality. Now this energetic group has grown to 189 women, ranging in age from 21 to 89. With a series of Regional Championships and International Top 10 rankings they have become one of the world's premiere Sweet Adelines Choruses.

OC Times

Inspired by artists like Michael Buble, Frank Sinatra and Elvis, OC Times breathes new life into swing standards, rock and roll classics, and favorites from a variety of other genres. Hailing from Orange County, CA, Shawn York (tenor), Sean Devine (lead), Pat Claypool (baritone) and Cory Hunt (bass) take barbershop harmony back to where it started over a century ago: pop-culture.

In 2008, OC Times won the Barbershop Harmony Society's International Quartet Championship. They have been featured in major publications such asThe Wall Street Journal, Saturday Evening Post, and SPIN magazine. The quartet is also featured prominently in an upcoming documentary film entitled "American Harmony."
